You won’t love russia, I can promise you that. I studied and worked in russia both in the USSR and in the Russian Federation. People are desperate and very worried about the future under the ‘president’ Putin. They are not stupid, and they understand very well what the reality of the situation of russia is today. Only the kleptocracy of the corrupt leaders who has yachts and castles are happy in russia. And now they are angry and worried too. Most people outside the big cities live in poverty and shame. Alcohol abuse is very common. Russia is a desperate society with a dark future. Everything else is a lie. In fact, the whole of russia is build on a lie.

Owning a large house is something that alot of westerns used to do or strive for. But that has changed, it is now a smaller home but with very luxurious items in it. Large homes are just so much more work and if you are single like you are than it is just waste of space.....you gotta heat and clean all that. Kitchens and bathrooms are the biggest areas in homes where money is spent, next is the master bedroom and so on.
100% agree. The house I designed has one big open plan kitchen and living space. I was going to make one floor but I put a small second floor with two bedrooms

Russian traditional cuisine is actually very similar to Scandinavian. Lots of pickled preserves for the winter like pickled cucumbers, tomato, cabbage and pickled mushrooms. Backed things are mostly of the yeasted variety, with berries and fruit fillings. Barbecue is also popular, called shashlyk. Russians mostly eat chicken and pork, beef is not as popular as in the West cause cows are expensive to keep in the winter and so beef is also more expensive.
Modern Russian cuisine has absorbed the traditions of both the peoples of Ancient Russia and the countries that were part of the USSR. Is there a valued added tax applied to the purchase price of land or to the purchase price of an already built house. Best to all Russian's today. I truly wish Russian's the best.
Only the saler will pay tax if he flipped the newly build apartment in less than 3 years ownership ,so saler will pay tax from his pure profit .That is great law to keep the prices down.
Russia is a land of contrast because people were not allowed to build decent houses in the USSR. In the RSFSR, one family could own only a 50 sq.m. house and it was really hard to find almost any building materials. It is going to take some time to replace the old houses and build some infrastructure. P.S. You can build houses on "personal subsidiary plots" as well. Those can be used to build a home or a small farm or even both.
This is not true. Any worker could get land about 600-1000 m2 and build whatever they want. We had cooperatives of owners from one or several factories or other. And you could build house you like.
Hey Sam, I hope that you are doing well and thank you for your wonderful content. I want to add regarding the way to get Russian short-term, long-term recidency plus Russian citizenship. There are those two options to apply which you mentioned, but there are also some other ways which are: - By passing the Russian Language test which makes you qualified to apply for the short-term residency. ( Short term: which is a stamp which the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia put in your passport) - By having a Russian higher education diploma with honours (Red Diploma), Bachelor, Masters or PhD. Your degree must be issued or completed by the Russian Governmental (State) University. Using your Red Diploma, you can apply for Permanent residency (long-term). (Long ter residency: is a blue passport which is like a green-card of the United States.) - While you are studing in the Russain Governmental (State) Universities, you can apply for the shrt term residency and when you complete your degree, you can apply for long or Permanent residency. I hope the information was helpful for you guys. Cheers!
@@SamsRussianAdventures yeah, a friend of mine in Kursk passed the Russian language test and applied for residency. Hopefully, he received his residency. Thank you for your content and information.

For foreigners from Europe who want to move to Russia, it would be best to choose the Kaliningrad Region. Russian enclave in Europe - Only 500 km from Berlin and 250 km to the port city of Gdansk, where you can sail by sea ferry from all over Europe. Kaliningrad is the most European city in Russia, intuitively understandable to Europeans, German European architecture, the Baltic Sea and a mild climate without the cold Russian winter.

Very interesting and informative video Sam. You are always so clear in your explanations. You could be a great tourist agent or a real estate agent!! I am joking. Anyway these houses are amazing. Thank you ❤️
we have 'these' in our part of the world. they're water towers. you pump water up there and then it can supply at that much head of pressure and the pump only need work when it falls beneath a certain level. good for small communities.
You say contrasts.....I agree....I,ve lived in (eastern) Poland for 14 years.....in a village, now some villages are very clean and tidy and all the houses and gardens neat.....then you get some that are populated with trashy people, the ditches are full of cans and crisp packets...etc...???
If I was a younger person (I'm 73 yrs old) and my health was in better condition, I would give serious consideration to moving to Russia. I am astounded at the real estate situation, I don't know anywhere here in the US that could come close to comparison. The situation here has already reached the WEF's "You Will Own Nothing and Like It". Thanks again for your videos, they are always
Sam provides great content and loads of helpful information. There are obviously some nice houses; village living seems best, but I am accustomed to having the infrastructure readymade (sewage, electricity, gas, phone, internet, roads, shops, health care, other amenities). Folks who want more freedom to build whatever/however they want and willing to go through the building process, I can understand the lure. I found it odd that the housing website advertised housing with the toilet outside. That must get chilly.
Thank you Sam for the video. Would you please be sure to cover the laws about what kind of properties one can buy at each stage of getting residential statuses. Like the fact that a person who doesn't have citizenship can only purchase small plots of land with a home. They can not buy a farm only lease land. Things of this nature are very important to know when considering what we can and can not buy. That also includes dachas. I can not buy a datcha😢. There are many that I love and would buy, but they are not registered and therefore I can not be registered in my own home. So, if you can research these laws and know all the INS and outs, that is most important part of knowing what we can purchase. Thanks again for your content!
Thanks for your feedback. I’ve said about land size in an earlier video about building a house in Russia. Really it’s all on an individual basis. It depends on the land that the dacha is built on. Also, you can set up a business and the business can purchase the farm and you can therefore live on the land. They are all so individual. That’s why I made the site, so people can contact me with individual questions and can point them in the right direction.
At first, one should come to Russia as a worker or a student or a guest (tourist). From each stage one can move in the direction of getting residency (temporary, permanent) or a Foreigner's residency permit. Just be ready to rent an appartment first, or get friends or relatives that would invite or help with this. There are also hostels and campuses. And prepare yourself specifically for residency tests *to get a Student visa u don't have to enter the University, there are Language schools related to University that teach Russian language, some prepare for residency tests. May u check: Dom Migranta.

Or one can come on working visa and apply for Foreigner's residency permit Main thing is Russian language (tests). Because, as one applies for FRP - ВНЖ, he has to pass the tests.
I had no idea that they could go immediately to ВНЖ. I thought that was only for HQS visas. It’s interesting that things are changing all the time. Sam have you ever considered getting a government grant to create a service to help westerners come to Russia? Currently most of migrations to RF are historically from the former USSR countries. However, there is a great potential in welcoming people from Europe and North America - from improving demographics, to historical & cultural aspect as many Europeans used to live and work in Russia. For example Vitus Jonassen Bering (Bering straight) alos known as Ivan Ivanovich Bering, or one of the greatest minds in mathematics Leonhard Euler. There are many more examples. Another aspect is bringing investments and expertise with them. I am not familiar with the immigration policies, but perhaps there should be an investment class, a specialist class and a laborer class. An NGO that can represent and assist westerners could be an interesting opportunity

I wouldn't buy a house ANYWHERE. Too much unnecessary space. I would buy a flat 52-55 sq.m. (plenty of space for one person or a couple with no children) and save A LOT of money!!
I like ur channel but I have one complaint- I would really appreciate it if you would put timestamps, as I'm not interested in some prices of house but am interested in others ALSO: can you show help me find equastrian properties/ house with grazing land??
Google is translating сот as "acre" but it's a Russian unit of measurement that means 100 sq. m An acre is about 4 sq. km. Anyway, fascinating, but transferring large amounts of money into Russia is very difficult or basically impossible depending on where you currently live.
@@SamsRussianAdventures You need to be super careful about doing a video like that. I thought about doing one, but it's a complete minefield from a legal standpoint. E.g. the UK has banned exports of UK and EU banknotes, except for personal use cash up to £10,000. Various countries have similar laws. There's a law in Russia that makes it illegal to use crypto for payments. And on and on and on. Bank policies, bank reporting, ad nauseum. Eventually I came to the conclusion it was as much use as month old egg salad. Like, if you go the US and try and use Telegram wallet, they block it forever.
Excellent! I was looking for this comment. One "sotka" = 100 sq. m. = 1076.39 sq ft (roughly). Those 5 "acre" plots of land are actually just over 5,000sq ft😅.
Hi, Sam. Would it be possible to do a video or videos over time on typical Russian Slavic cuisine vs diverse Russian Federation cuisine? Not sure how you could pull this off logistically unless you found a local chef that could make various dishes from across the country? Thank you for the consideration. Blessings.

Speaking of the immigrant allotments regions take in, is there a way to find out which regions still have vacancies? I would assume a less desirable areas will have more vacancies. I enjoyed this content.

Interesting. Nothing wrong with this, but everything in Russia looks DIY and not made to a set standard. Like, the lake seems filled awkwardly, road, houses and fence all seem a bit off and mismatch for where the houses are constructed. Maybe, recycling of any material is of importance in rural Russia, granted quality fixtures are probably expensive and/or in short supply. I personally prefer the homogeneity and quality of a Cotswold village in England or a Commune in France. It would be nice if Russia had these aspects.

At first i would recomend you to get a tourist visa an come here for a week or two just to see it with your own eyes and then just go to russian embassy in US and there you can get consultation on what you need to do to get residential visa. As far as I know Russian embassy works as usial in US unlike US in Russia, we can't get US visa (any kind) direct in US embassy in Russia.
Residential visa is available in Russian Embassy, but one has to find a job in Russia during 30 days according to this visa otherwise he has to leave Russia. U'd better check The list of the most needed professions in Russia 2024 that will allow u to apply for a Foreigner's residency permit after 6 months of being employed in Russia. Your employer has to pay taxes and social fees during these 6 months. Or a Student visa in a Language school related to University. A Programm for foreigners resettlment to Russia 2024, but it is not ready yet. Consult the immigrant lawyers.
For houses it's about 0.1% per year of the official (кадастровая) cost (not commercial, in Russia we have so called "кадастровая" cost, for example my flat's commercial cost is 14 mil. rubls = 140.000$ but official "кадастровая" cost is about 7 mil = 70.000$ so for my flat yearly tax will be 0.1% of 70000$ and it's about 70$) For commercial property (offices, production buildings, shops) it's about 2% of official cost. For land and 'farm' buldings it's about 0.5% of official cost.

Good Job Sam!! I've seen someone on some channel say that they opened a bank account in India and then transfer the money to their Russian bank account, don't know if it's true.
Now one can bring in cash dollars/euros. U should declare it and have proofs of its origins (like u sold your property papers or closed your bank account papers) if it is more than 10 000 dollars. There is also a form T2. And be ready to explain your purposes and plans about how u gonna spend them in Russia (on buying what).

Is there a valued added tax applied to the purchase price of land or to the purchase price of an already built house. Best to all Russian's today. I truly wish Russian's the best.
The property tax is minimum and upon selling, people will find ways to adjust the contract price
If you mean sales tax there is none
Only the saler will pay tax if he flipped the newly build apartment in less than 3 years ownership ,so saler will pay tax from his pure profit .That is great law to keep the prices down.
And another great law about senior citizens do not pay property tax, which is very minimal anyway.
@@SamsRussianAdventures I think he means VAT, which is never included in displayed prices in the US
Russia is a land of contrast because people were not allowed to build decent houses in the USSR.
Yes, there are lots of variants of types of houses and plots.
There are those two options to apply which you mentioned, but there are also some other ways which are:
- By passing the Russian Language test which makes you qualified to apply for the short-term residency. ( Short term: which is a stamp which the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia put in your passport)
- By having a Russian higher education diploma with honours (Red Diploma), Bachelor, Masters or PhD. Your degree must be issued or completed by the Russian Governmental (State) University. Using your Red Diploma, you can apply for Permanent residency (long-term). (Long ter residency: is a blue passport which is like a green-card of the United States.)
- While you are studing in the Russain Governmental (State) Universities, you can apply for the shrt term residency and when you complete your degree, you can apply for long or Permanent residency.
I hope the information was helpful for you guys.

Glad you enjoyed it Billy!
Hi Sam, good to see you again
And prepare yourself specifically for residency tests
*to get a Student visa u don't have to enter the University, there are Language schools related to University that teach Russian language, some prepare for residency tests. May u check: Dom Migranta.
@@catinforest Anything can be achieved. If you set a goal to come to Russia and obtain citizenship and buy real estate. First you just need to come. Visit different cities. In general, feel whether you are comfortable enough. The Russian language can be learned in 90 lessons using the Pimsleur method. He has a very good course, in 90 lessons of 30 minutes each, learn to speak Russian fluently on the most popular topics, from simple to complex. And if you speak Russian, obtaining citizenship will be several times faster. This is done for the benefit of foreigners. Knowing Russian, it will be much easier for them in Russia. In general, if you can speak Russian, even with errors, this will be a big advantage.

There is The list of the most needed professions that Russia needs in 2024, that can obtain A FOREIGNER'S RESIDENCY PERMIT.
An immigrant lawyer in Russia can get a quota for residency for representatives of these professions in some of the regions (depending on where they need this professional).
Or one can come on working visa and apply for Foreigner's residency permit
Main thing is Russian language (tests). Because, as one applies for FRP - ВНЖ, he has to pass the tests.
I had no idea that they could go immediately to ВНЖ. I thought that was only for HQS visas. It’s interesting that things are changing all the time. When I did it I had to have temporary residency first. I pass anyone with questions to an immigration lawyer, as there seems to be so many variants these days.
@@SamsRussianAdventures As far as I understand:
- Student visa at a Language school - applying for residency (temporary, permanent,), tests twice, and finally applying for citizenship.
- Working visa - applying for Foreigner's residency permit (if your profession is from The list of the most needed Professions in Russia 2024), if not u can apply for temporary residency (*watch the previouse item) - tests - wait for several years (about 5) and after that one can apply for citizenship.
Cart of Migrant 2024 is being tested now. If u came with this card (and with a purpose of coming) u should leave with this card. And u can stay in Russia with this card only if one applies for residency or a Foreigner's residency permit till the time u get this permition.

For example Vitus Jonassen Bering (Bering straight) alos known as Ivan Ivanovich Bering, or one of the greatest minds in mathematics Leonhard Euler. There are many more examples. Another aspect is bringing investments and expertise with them. I can try. Political questions are more difficult to ask. I’ll give it a shot.
So far I've been hearing. There's 5 6000 Americans in mood to Russia and roll citizens.I don't got a resency
Roll citizens? You want to apply for residency?
Russia has the right to protect thier culture
Can you purchase a house and not be a resident?
Да
Interesting. Nothing wrong with this, but everything in Russia looks DIY and not made to a set standard. Like, the lake seems filled awkwardly, road, houses and fence all seem a bit off and mismatch for where the houses are constructed. Maybe, recycling of any material is of importance in rural Russia, granted quality fixtures are probably expensive and/or in short supply. I personally prefer the homogeneity and quality of a Cotswold village in England or a Commune in France. It would be nice if Russia had these aspects.
It’s just because everyone builds their own home to their own preference, rather than one company building the entire settlement

this is the price of freedom) freedom of being able to build anything you want or can without getting building perm)) You see, in russia if you want to live "standartised" life you can do so easily in gated communities like I do. And if you want to go wild - go wild. But in the west you going to waste life trying to get a building perm to build a house of you dreams. Google "Коттеджные посёлки от застройщика" and check out images of modern russian villages. Now, the costwolds: are you aware russians have exclave in the baltics with the old german architecture still in place? google "Калининградская область". Russia is big mate, and here you'll find pretty much anything you can imagine.
that 2 acher plot with a shed on it was a bargain i could turn that into 20000000 property for around 40k uk money
Sam are your links to buy me a coffee and all those other things still working. I’m looking for them because UA-cam great videos and you deserve a little bit of support that I can give
Yes they are! I’ve just pinned them in the first comment! Thanks!!!!!
Funny how houses in BumfckAnywhereinTheWest are cheaper, whether it be rural Missouri or Northern Sweden or rural Portugal.
that house with 10.7 acers for 40 uk grand that had no interior was a bargain , i could finish that off for 20k
Does buying property grant you residency rights?
I like those old wooden houses, like before the revolution with all the gingerbread window trimming.
They are nice when restored.
They are nicer to look at than to live in!
@@SamsRussianAdventures That's right. Many have no running water.
Great bro what's the name of this region
Vladimir
whats like the price of a detached house near moscow ? in terms of price per sqfoot or sq meters
That’s an impossible question to answer. Use the site and look at some houses that you like and see the prices.
2:45 All those high fences provide cover for burglars.
They also allow people to make their property nice and not worry if the neighbours dump an old car opposite or some building materials

@dunbustin ---- There is an old saying, *'Good fences make good neighbours'.*

Hi Sam , can you cover a video about all kinds of jobs in Russia ? Or what are the jobs for foreigners and Russian citizens also .
I’ve done a video about visas in Russia. Russia has the same type of jobs as anywhere else in the world! To find a job go to hh.ru and put the site into English.
But what I would like to know, is there forage in Russia, like mushrooms or other wild plants?
Yes, I made a video a few years ago collecting mushrooms
collecting mushrooms is whole russian hobby
Avoid Norilsk or anywhere near a nuclear reactor
Sam, how difficult is it to integrate in Russian society if you don't know the Russian language?
It will just take time. You’ll build up a base of friends. If you see most UA-camrs have a Russian wife, which will help of course!
Hello Sam, I am trying the avito website now and it’s not letting me search or pick Vladimir region. I’m not sure why, I tried in English and Russian. Maybe it’s because I’m in the States ? Nice video by the way!!
There is an App.
That’s strange. Perhaps you need to put the name of the town into Russian for it to be found in the search of town names. I suggest opening google translate and typing the names of the towns you want to search and then copying the Russian into the location search. Perhaps then it will find the name.
@@SamsRussianAdventures I figured it out, I think I need to type the website followed by the name of the town in google, then it takes me to the Vladimir avito website! Thank you!!
You can join the army and get citizenship.
Alright mate. Kiwi living in Australia, married to a Russian. I would love to buy somewhere in Moscow but how would I get money or funds transferred safely to Russia ?
As I said in the video, I’ll be uploading a video about how to transfer money to Russia
@@SamsRussianAdventures thanks very much mate

Can't afford it here, can't afford it in Russia. lol But I can afford to enjoy another one of your vids. :)
Denmark or Norway?
Sorry! But glad you watch the vids.
Good info Sam ta
You’re welcome
I am American with a wife and two youngsters. How do I get a Russian Visa for my family to live in vladivostok
I made a video recently called how to move to Russia in 2024. You can fill out this form and we’ll reply to you. forms.gle/cyx4ah2F1BN3geQB7
@@SamsRussianAdventures what do you do for a job. Or is it just UA-cam?
Residential visa is available in Russian Embassy, but one has to find a job in Russia during 30 days according to this visa otherwise he has to leave Russia.
U'd better check The list of the most needed professions in Russia 2024 that will allow u to apply for a Foreigner's residency permit after 6 months of being employed in Russia. Your employer has to pay taxes and social fees during these 6 months. Or a Student visa in a Language school related to University.
A Programm for foreigners resettlment to Russia 2024, but it is not ready yet.
Consult the immigrant lawyers.
Are there annual property taxes in Russia?
For houses it's about 0.1% per year of the official (кадастровая) cost (not commercial, in Russia we have so called "кадастровая" cost, for example my flat's commercial cost is 14 mil. rubls = 140.000$ but official "кадастровая" cost is about 7 mil = 70.000$ so for my flat yearly tax will be 0.1% of 70000$ and it's about 70$) For commercial property (offices, production buildings, shops) it's about 2% of official cost. For land and 'farm' buldings it's about 0.5% of official cost.
16:47 Looking at that house just hurts me
What sites are popular in Russia where you can find listings?
Did you watch the video?
Sam, Firefox has the same option to translate.
Cool. I view it in Russian but I found out that google has the translate option.
It’s quite possible but there are other ways, I’ll show in the next video!!
