Serbs eat BREAD with every meal so Sarma is overpowering alone use Bread to make it less powerful taste since alone it's bit too strong. Serbs eat bread a lot.
I recommend you to visit Avala tower you can take bus 402 from Slavija and you can do cardio climbing up to top of a mountain, then you can have a coffee on top of tower and then you can enjoy at park, see monuments, buy souvenirs or have a lunch at restaurant. Great video
The pizza place's name is butzko. Not baka.😊 Butzko translates as chubby. 😊The name is consistent with the high calories contained in the salad dressing on the pizza, as well as the size of the whole pizza. And gettin weight. 😊Also, the kafana's name Zavičaj(Zavichaj), within Skadarlija u have visited, translates smth like homeland. 😊 Recommend visiting the kafana named Velika Skadarlija (Great Skadarlija) and trying the grilled meat called hero's saber.😊
Kajmak is made of milk...you cook the milk...boiled it...then wait for milk to cool down...and when it cools down you put it in a fridge...there is a milk mas thats creating on the the surface of the milk..so you remove it with a spoon on a plate..then just a little sault with two fingers over it..and then as long as there is still some milk mas you repeat it layer by layer...kajmak😊hello from Srbija..
Kajmak is the fat that accumulates on top of unprocessed milk after its cooked and left to cool a bit. So they just collect a lot of that and there you go - kajmak spread :) Why noone suggested pljeskavica (Serbian burger)? :) My favourite pljeskavica is in my hometown of Pozarevac (1hr east from Belgrade), place name is Bucko (same name as that Belgrade street pizza place). They have 2 locations now, but dont go to the new one in the city center, 5-10 mins walk from new location is the old one which is there since i was a kid and the tasste is still the same! If you decide to go there and try it, please take mixed sandwich version, which includes 2 extra sausages on top of pljeskavica, and take only kajmak and crushed hot spice paprika as toppings. There is no coming back to any other after that :) Thank me later :) Bucko just means "fat boy" :)
You are eating in the center of the Belgrade only. You should go and visit other parts of the town, like New Belgrade or Zemun (this part particulary, because you can eat fresh fish from the Danube river, fish soup, and other specialtes)Cross the bridge and you will find another world. Greetings.
Pancakes are not the same as crepes. And they live in US (as far as I know), where pancakes have raising agent and are much fluffier and thicker, something we here call "american pancakes". So what is called a pancake in Europe, they know as crepe, therefor, from their perspective, we here have crepes.
I should have probably explained better in my recommendation comment, full chocolate ones are a no-go for me also, few bites and its enough, also you had a regular pancake and not crepe, crepe is like a waffle. You should have went for a crepe with a mix of fruits and chocolate, or even ice-cream instead of chocolate, they have one with a bunch of fruits, might be number 36 crepe, but don't hold me on that. Glad you liked sarma, like i said KMN is not a fancy place, but they got some nice food over there, its fresh all the time, and a good place to get a meal to eat at home. You should also try Walter cevapi, closest place should be in Dorcol, they got some good cevapi at a decent price, beef soup, nice sopska salad etc, also a nice sitting place. Cevapi are best eaten with kajmak, onions and dried paprika, if you don't mind spicy. If you visit walter consider trying baked paprika with garlic seasoning, its a hit or miss, you are either gonna like it a lot or not at all. Another interesting not that well know fast food place is -Amigo- Kraljice natalije 35 address, if you stubble there order a deep fried salty pancake, if i remember correctly the make of that one is super amigo 1 (pancake), its filled with cheese, mushrooms, sausage etc. Feel free to reach out if you need any other tips or help, my instagram is @portraitmotion
OMG!! Sarma is not fast food to eat on the street.Try FERDINAND KNEDLE, Karadjordjevu sniclu, Milky izazov (challenge ) -challenge is to eat 2kg pancake. If you successful, the pancake is free....
I'm a Serbian who's living in Ontario Canada and for me is also strange those pizza with dressing on it . Every time I go back home ,I don't take any dressing . It is optional.
right down that staircase, take a look the building on the other side of the bridge, and a small street leading awawy from the bridge, there's a pizza place called PizzaPizza, good one. Watch out how you cross that road, I think the steet(dark) is still broken. Right there, behind the corner, couple meters, on the left hand side, you're there.
You didn't get to choose what kind of pizza you get because they only make that kind, the whole point is in the salad toppings, but you definitely went with the wrong topping, shoulda have taken beef or chicken salad.

Sarma vinegar? No way. The cabbage is fermented like sauerkraut. The fermented cabbage leaves are stuffed with herbs meat and rice.

Definitely! Never seen in my whole life someone enjoying sarma that way. Without bread, yuck. All wrong.
There is no vinagre in sarma its made from fermented cabbage. Also you're supposed to eat it with corn bread called proja.
Ah thank you, we’ll have to try it with proja next time then!
