The ripperkon XL backpack is very similar to the Mystery Ranch Blackjack 100 and the Warrior Assault Systems X300. I'm sure he designed it himself with his own needs in mind, but he basically took the best features of both packs such as the gear attachment points, the lid and the access methods, and dare I say it, improved on both designs. Great job ripperkon, you're definitely a person I aspire to be.
My Berghaus Crusader is rated as 90+20 liters, but it's way smaller than that. It's pretty hard to compare between manufacturers because of the differences in the way they measure the volume. I like your design a lot, no unnecessary straps etc flailing around!
Wow, this is an really incredible undertaking! I love this pack and have begun designs for a pack similar to this on my own, but this gives me many more great ideas. Thank you so much for this video and I hope to see more videos like this from you in the future. Rock on, Ripperkon!
I like molle because I can attach pouches for equipment, food, spare clothes, etc. Its handy when your on a mission at night because you have easy access to the equipment and you dont need to open the big chamber of the backpack. Nice video and backpack.
Please film the process of manufacturing your next backpack, i would love to see it. It is indeed the mother of backpacks and really well designed. Cheers!
This is why I love sewing up my own gear-just pouches, a field quiver and a haversack so far but being able to design or customize for your own needs and equipment is a really useful skill. Plus it's not hard to find a grandma who will be delighted to teach you!
I’ve always wanted to do this. If I design and make gear myself, I can hand pick the materials and be certain that everything is high quality, rugged, and stitched for max strength. I’m saving up for an industrial sewing machine. It is a very useful skill and saves a lot of money in the long run. After all, I just have to pay for materials since I won’t need to charge myself fir labor
I would have kept the full frame of the Lastenkraxe, I own the lastenkraxe and the accompanying rucksack that comes with it, it's more than enough for me. The L frame has been tremendous when used around camp to carry firewood, water canteens for longer stays(Here in Australia water is hard to find)
Kill the devil and I will send you this pack ;) Yes, I also thought about it. But this size is sooo special and not often used. But maybe this will change 🤔
Although I prefer internal frame packs for fit, comfort, and generally lighter weight, I've used external frame packs and like the versatility of being able to use the frame to carry items like jerry cans, chainsaws, etc.
Very nice crafted Backpack - respect. I always have to laugh at all the comments were user say they always carry at least 50+ kg around. Most of them would collapse after 5 km with a load of 25 kg.
Another pretty often overlooked factor is in my opinion *where* do you carry your backpack. Carrying 25kg at sea level all day is something completely different than being up in the mountains with such a backpack for only 1/2 a day...
He went full german engineering on this one.
Impressive, being tall is difficult to get a good fit, it’s light, considering it’s size, to be able to make your own equipment is a great skill to have, well done.
The none modified lastenkraxe and the bag you can buy seperately is 70 litres, maybe 80L if really pack it well. Depending where you live they can be a bitch to find at a reasonable price but well worth keeping an eye out.
Next time design one that can slip onto a mystery ranch frame. You can get them to fit your body as they come in three sizes. Plus they are a lot lighter, and you can put an Alice pack, FILBE, or any packs that has the sleeve for an Alice frame. Plus you got some points for designing your own ruck! That’s awesome! I’m planning on making one for the molle large frame. Or having it made by someone who’s is much more experienced than I. I’m going to take some design aspects of this into consideration. Except it’s going to be a roll-top design like the savotta packs. I just don’t have the money nor any knowledge of anyone who does this sort of work.
good idea man those zippers on the side..got also a big one like the berghaus vulcan2..also 120 liter..and i am thinking to go to shoemaker/tailor and let him do the stitching on the side zippers..cool to see some1 thinking outside the box..thx man and good luck
I have the German army back pack, but it doesn't fit my back, am 2.03m tall. So I may have to find a bigger pack, or to make my own. How were you able to built it?
It's always awesome to see people make their own gear like this, looks like you've done a great job with it.Nice to see people still using external frames these days to :) How long did this take overall? And your english is fine dude, people can fill in the gaps when you don't know the words even if it wasn't! :D
Amazing. Well done!! Making a pack like this is one of my goals. But its also a massive project. Especially the prototyping and final adjustments. Which can take ages. By the way, your English is great. A truly inspiring video.
I suppose you needed an industrial sawing machine (heavy duty sewing machine), to be able to sew this backpack? I have sewn/modified a CONDOR COLOSSUS DUFFLE BAG, with chest strap and replaced some straps with longer straps. I did this with hand sewing, and it took a long time. But to sew yourself a complete backpack, that's next level. I suppose, If you can't find one to buy, just sew one yourself 👍 Thanks for sharing.
Servus Konstantin, geiler Rucksack, echt top gemacht.
You should find a partner and produce this backpack. I would defenetly buy it since it fills all my needs wich most other backpacks dio not. Great job!
Great video, the frame system is called a Manpack in the U.K. , you don’t see them so much now but as you say good for mortar rounds Radios, ammo boxes and Water Jerricans also You cannot beat an external from for air circulation , which is also important in cold climates. Your design is great for the uses that you intended. Bergans are a very individual thing, and what suits one person may not suit another person You have a comfortable carrying system that can attach different bags for different uses . When are you going to carry out a parachute jump with this Pack ? Some small detachable shoulder straps would make that floating lid a useable Daysack
I understand the reason you have the zip system on the main bag, my query is do you have any difficulty with zip breakage when the bag is full with the heaviest loads?
Why are most rucksacks made small and very long / high ? Logic tells us that a wider and therefore shorter length rucksack would carry much more balanced and more comfortable .
Many thanks for your great video. "Great" because of your zeal in making it and in presenting it to us viewers. It simply is NOT easy even to modify a backpack. You do need a lot of zeal and passion. I did a few similar (but certainly less complicated) modification of packs. I think I can understand a bit on what it takes to succeed. And you have! Keep up the good work, please. P.S. I have no problem at all with your English. It's to me perfect.
WOW ❗️Now thats one big Ruck ❗️That would make a great INCH bag. You must be fit and strong to carry all that weight.😳💪🏼 I have an 88ltr Ruck and thats really heavy. How far can you carry it comfortably❓Great vid. Thanks 👍🏼
Why not just add 2 little loops to the back to keep the straps organized rather than losing the functionality of the big long straps from top to bottom.
Awesome design. Simple and useful without to many fancy pockets, compartments etc. Slight advantage of having some molle on it is for camouflage, at least that's how I use the molle when I need to camouflage my backpack. It's easy to attach vegetation. Maybe having compartment on the very bottom of the pack for rain cover is not a bad idea.
Hey bud I have a question ! Does the comfort port of the lastenkraxe is the same without the part you've cut ? It's a bit worst than before, or the part you've cut is just to put the lastenkraxe on the ground?? Thank you !!

yeah. I have to regularly perform CIA level of deciphering to understand some of what my friends say

The decision to incorporate the Tatonka carry system is ingenious! Great backpack, reminds me of one SAS use(d), but more convenient.

i really like the red cord for meds. first its very discrete but also if you get injured your buddy can find the meds fast n easy
It would be interesting to know the designing and sewing steps you took! Great work!!!

I'm impressed. Show us how you made the patterns and what tools you used to sew it together. .
Extremely nice pack and harness system. Thanks for showing it to us all. Take Care and Stay Safe.
I love your content! You make great videos that are not only very informative and educational but entertaining as well! Thank you for what you do!
