I just did this process for my 2012 camaro. I was so skeptical about the original tape and mounting equipment my louver set came with. So glad I didn’t install them immediately upon delivery and waited to research a little bit. This Velcro is so strong and sturdy I know I won’t have to worry about anything now. Thanks so much!!!! 👌👌👌👌
That's great! Glad to hear it!
Fantastic video. Replicated your process. Excellent results. Thank god for people like you that take the time to help others. Much appreciated.
Glad it worked for you!
Mine came in today with garbage tape.. going to Home Depot right now and get that Velcro tape. I appreciate you taking the time out to help others.. your hellcat is 🔥🔥.
Yeah that tape is pitiful! If you're on Instagram, send me some pics when you get it mounted. @cthellcat
I just installed the same louver on my 2017 Camaro SS. The velcro suggested was brilliant!! Thanks to your video I don't need to bother with those crappy plates with the screw down bolts and the useless 3M tape that rots after a year. Thanks again!!
Your welcome! Glad it was helpful!
I'll be doing this when my 3m tape weakens! Thanks for the tips!
Going on about 18 months for me and not even the slightest loosening of the velcro!
Your idea to use Velcro is terrific, very versatile. Each new addition is making that “ Cat “
more unique. Keep up the great work.
Thanks! There's another stormville airport show on June 8th. Maybe I'll see you there???
Will definitely be at Stormville on June 8th
@@apg1383 awesome!!
I recently order my louver and was scared for it to fly off while driving but thanks too your tips I’m less worried about that problem now! Thank you !!
Yessir, you should be good to go with this solution. Going on almost 2 years for me and no problems at all.
Thanks for the tip! Im going to do this with mine. I have the other style with the brackets, but im going to use both to make it extra secure.
Glad you found it helpful!
@@CTHellcat where did you get the led light strips that stick to your window? They look amazing brother!!
@@The_Dragon_ChallengerI got them on eBay. Can't find the exact same ones anymore, but here's something similar. www.ebay.com/itm/224323362931?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=WJTVv3uKTCG&sssrc=2349624&ssuid=dy-hIDnLQG6&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY
@@CTHellcat thanks so much bud I really like how yours turned out!!!
I messed up those non sticking screws and used the industrial strength Velcro and omg this does not move at all! I mean it is really stuck on my back window in place with no movement! I had even tried using an adhesive promotor and I clean ed the back window 4 times but never could get any of those screws with the tape on the back to stay down so took all of them off and trashed them since they were now messed up and used the Velcro and as soon as I pressed it in it place it stuck!!!! I home the pieces stuck to the widow don’t come off when I go to clean the back window!!! Thanks for the tip dude!!! This is the best way to me to keep these things on!!!
Yeah, this stuff definitely kicks ass! Thanks for sharing your experience.
Great review of the install techniques. I live using the industrial hook & loop.... next best thing to zip ties!!!
Right on bro. I'ma be using that stuff a lot more now. 👍👍
OMG!!! He is not lying!!! I used that exact same Velcro and the cheap louvers I found on eBay do not move! No rattling or wind vibration and I mean it is stuck on my back glass with no movement at all!!! Hey thanks man cause those cheap screws would not stick even after I throughly cleaned the window 3 times!!!!
👍👍
@@CTHellcat The next one I get, I’m going to install exactly like this to!!!!
CTHellcat this video was a lifesaver. Thanks for sharing the knowledge.
Glad it helped!
Nice hack and I'm gonna do this whenever I install louvers. I got to your channel after another youtuber Gonzo Aesthetics mentioned that he got this idea from one of his channels commenters. Kudos to you.
Thanks! 4 years later and it's still holding strong!
@@CTHellcat Thanks again for another update. 👍👍
Great idea on the Velcro!!!! I love the idea and functionality of being able to remove it. Wouldn’t have necessary thought about the gaps in the bottom. Great work!! I’ll keep this in mind for some projects that might come up. Excellent.
Wow. Always got great ideas. Great tip for the tapping too.
Those LEDS look damn amazing.
@@BurnseysRT Thanks Burnsey. I tried several different things to stop the tapping, like rubber tabs, little suction cups, but the plastic was always too hard and it still made tapping noises. I really needed soft rubber that could weather the elements. And then I saw the leftover strips of ezlip and it knew I had a winner.
Those are some great solutions! Good Macgyvering skills! I used velcro to hold my brake controller in the Durango.
Yeah this stuff is pretty awesome. I'm sure I'll find some more uses for it. !
Best Vid on louvers yet
Thanks!
I just removed my tape As the ones in the middle were starting to come loose. THe sides were quite stuck on but i wanted to clean my window. Figured time to try the velcro. It Sticks insanely strong. Now i wont have skanky window syndrome anymore. One year and it was nasty. Its does raise the louver up a bit. My tekno 3 louver usually sits flat on the window. I notice it but if i don't say anything its not noticable. Thank you so much for sharing this.
Glad it was helpful and thanks for sharing your experience!
honestly the most useful video for louvers
Thanks! Glad it helped!
Thank you I just installed mine but yeah the double sided tape sucks I’m going to try what you did great video
It's Still holding strong for me!
Sweet post man I might give you a shoutout on my page to show who I got this scotch velcro idea when I upload the video of my install of my louver, great idea since it shows you to pop it off instead of using more permanent adhesive as the tape they give in the kits loosen up over time . I put the Velcro on all the plates . Combined your idea onto the setup . Great idea man !
Glad it worked well for you! I haven't had a single issue since installing it.

Gave your channel a shoutout for coming up with the velcro idea. Check it out if you want! Have good day !
Damn Scott! You are a crafty SOB - I like that EZLip fix
The ezlip was absolutely perfect. Soft flexible rubber that can withstand the elements AND already has adhesive!!! So glad I kept some of the excess pieces.
Very helpful information thank you. I just bought a louver for my Dodge Challenger SXT. I'm going to use that same installation method. Super idea. Thanks!
Yep, should work even better on the chally because of the smaller rear window size.
Thank you for this I want to install louvers but I also wanna be able to clean under them and was trying to think of a way to do it this video helps me a ton.
Hey I'm glad you found it helpful! I've taken them off and put them back on a number of times and have never had a problem with the adhesive coming off. Thanks for watching!
I'm loving the look on that bad boy plus the hellcat taillight tint
Funny how many civilians ask what kinda car it is, even though I got logos and badges all over it!
Like EVERYONE has already mentioned...Great idea, you had to fix that problem! Very good install video for anyone wanting to do this mod!!!
Thanks Joel. Only Now I feel like I gotta come up with some type of cable lock to snake up from the trunk cause I just told everyone how to steal my louver! 😬
Thank you so much! This is how I will be installing my louvers!
Mine has been on for 2 years with no issues!
Thank you! This will be on my Astro Van by tonight!

I dig that Battlestar Galactica style with the lovers man, killer look! I plan on obtaining some old-school style rear window lovers on my Challenger bud.
They really look good on challengers, but if the factory mounting material looks questionable, don't use it. This Velcro is Rock solid.

Thanks! Glad the video was helpful.
Looks great Scott!
Hey CtHellcat, i have a quick question. Could you still use the brackets and adhesive with the scotch velcro, or should i only stick with the velcro?
I think you should use the scotch Velcro alone with the brackets . You don't need to use any other adhesive that came with the brackets because the scotch adhesive is top notch.
Brilliant Idea!!! thanks man
@@1sleepingleg 👍👍
Thanks 🙏🏾 you see sir.
What’s the brand of Velcro?
It's listed at the 2:40 mark in the video.
Good stuff man ! U did a good job , looks good
Thanks bro. 👍👍
Alright you got me at the end , that is pretty dope man
thanks man! Much appreciated.
I'm looking to get some 3D printed for an old 91 Nissan, so I'll be keeping this in mind for it's design. I never liked the screw on ones, as the holes seemed messy. If this next level velcro is as strong as it suggests, this would be perfect.
Going on 20 months and never had it come off!
Awesome job .
Thanks, still holding strong!
I'm about to try this!
Mine's still holding strong after 3 years!
Wow!!! Thank you sir!! That is incredible!!
You're welcome!
I think I'll be buying this Velcro tape and just toss my 3M tape that it comes with the Louver that I'll be installing. Lol 😆
Good plan! 😁👍
@@CTHellcat besides the funny part about this is I just received my louver yesterday and there was no 3M tape, adhesive promoter and alcohol wipes that was supposed to come with it. Lol 😆 smh.
Great video! I am now reconsidering getting a louver again after seeing so many bad reviews of that double sided tape and louvers flying off, your video has me interested
Going on almost 2 years and never had a problem with the velcro!
@@CTHellcat the only thing I'm curious on is how are you able to stick the velcro to the outer glass and does water make it weaker? Can you explain that to me?
@@SheenDolla just make sure the window is clean and dry, then lay down the strips so they line up with the strips on the underside of the louver. Once applied, water will not weaken it.
@@CTHellcat my man! I'll give it try soon. I'm definitely inspired! I subbed also, thanks

Hello CTHellcat Brother, Thank you this is a great and very successful idea. wow!

Is that reflective tape on the edges? Looks cool as hell
Yessir! At one point I had reflective red vinyl all over the car. Check out this post on my Instagram page. instagram.com/p/CagZ5EtNqWO/?igshid=NDk5N2NlZjQ=
I was wondering if this would work great job appreciate the video
Thanks man! Glad it helped you out.
Great video! I just got mine in the mail and I am looking for ideas on how to install. Did you land up using the trim that came with the kit when using the velcro?
Hey Congrats on the purchase! No I didn't use any of the adhesive or trim that came with it from the factory. Just the velcro and I'm going on about 20 months without it ever coming off again. (Been through multiple car washes and had the car up to 170 mph).
Great video!
Thanks!
@@CTHellcat watching this video helped me make my decision to purchase. Was on the fence. I wanted to be able to remove it. Thanks!

Thanks man. Glad to see your chally back in action!
You should carefully mask off the White paint & spray the back side with Rustoleum Flat Black bud, would really look nice from inside.
Not a bad idea🤔
Do you take them off to wash the windows?
Yes, I have taken them off a couple times to wash the windows.
Love you Scotty. Guess what. I'm getting the same louver on the next car meet. Lololololol. Smart man. Great job and video
That's awesome! You gonna leave it black, or paint it?
@@CTHellcat paint it? It already white. I'm stealing yours. Lol
@@chucknostaw2819 Haha. Yeah that's one downfall of not using 2 sided tape. Was thinking some type of cable lock to snake up from the trunk and epoxy to the underside of the louver.
Omg thank you!

any idea if the velcro will hold onto metal louvers? weighs like 15 lbs...so quite a bit more than this plastic stuff
I think it would probably do okay because the up force from the wind will be the same regardless of the louver material. If anything the extra weight might help secure it better.
This is great information I my blew off yesterday and I was wondering what the hell thanks for the info
Sure man! Do you have a v2 louver or a different type?
@@CTHellcat I have a V2

How do install the LED lights on the rear window? I don't get the wiring part
Wires come from the trunk to the outside of the rear window. I tape them to the edge of the window where they hidden by the louver and connect them to LED strips that have adhesive on the back. . It really wouldn't be possible without the louver being able to hide the wires.
I appreciate this information bro
Thanks. If you found it helpful, please consider subscribing to my channel.
Thank you that has work for me...
By any chance do you remember how long you cut the strips fyi love the leds it’s badazz
About 8 inches.
@@CTHellcat much appreciated
Great video! 👍
Glad you liked it!
So you said you used 2 boxes of the Scotch Extreme Fasteners. Each box has 2 rolls. So I'm a little confused. Did you use 2 rolls (1 box) or 4 rolls (2 boxes)? Reason I'm asking is because I just used 2 rolls and it more than covered the louvers. So did you have a total of 2 or 4 layers? Because with 2 layers, my louvers won't stay stuck down. They pop right up.
I used 1 box, but this video I almost 3 years old and product packaging changes over time. So I don't know exactly how it's packaged now. Are you using this exact same louver on a dodge charger, or something different?
@@CTHellcat Thanks for the quick reply. It's my fault. I'm not using the V2 louvers. I've got the black louvers with the screw down nuts putting on my 2021 Challenger T/A. I've since installed using the original hardware that was included but used Guerilla tape on the mounting hardware instead of the 3M tape it came with.
@@gobbzgaming8812 Gorilla tape should do the trick. That's some good stuff.
I never fathomed of having a decent car and life well it's happening slowly but I have a 2014 68k miles AWD rt I love it just got some louvers ECT..... Working to get an exhaust system but man a hellcat or helephant 🤯I can't fathom lol just working and on my credit but hope they don't go electric!
That's awesome bro. I started with a 2015 RT and loved that car. Even if they go electric, there'll still be plenty of opportunities on the used market to upgrade to higher trim levels.
@@CTHellcat haha I can't wait to afford more opportunities haha I'm single so I can do that
Your great boss this video we’ll help my husband so much
That's great to hear! Glad it was helpful.👍👍
Great video!! If my louver has the brackets with the screws do I need to put them on if I do it this way? Is it also really good in the rain with no problems?
No Problem at all with rain. As far as the brackets, you can use the velcro to secure the brackets to the windshield and keep using the brackets to hold the louver, or you can potentially eliminate the brackets altogether depending on your louver. The louver needs to have a relatively flat edge so the velcro on the windshield gets good grip with the velcro on the underside of the louver.
@@CTHellcat Thank you so much! I look forward to your new videos!
Thanks, Im gonna do this for my mustang
Yeah it should work fine on the stang! Only thing to consider is that the velcro does make it sit a bit higher off the window, but hopefully this won't be a problem on the Stang. Good luck and thanks for watching!
@@CTHellcat Yes i installed it on the stang and for the past 2 weeks have had no issues at all. I does sit slightly higher but barely noticeable. Thank you

What about rain cuz my adhesive jus unstuck from it will rain destroy that too
The adhesive on the velcro I reference in this video is really strong. Rain should not effect it. Just make sure you get the type I mention in this video.
So glad I found your video before throwing on my Louver! Quick question ab the EzLip , I couldn’t find what were you talking ab , do you have a link for me possibly?
ezlip.com/
Any of their spoiler products will work, but if you don't intend to also install their product as a spoiler, then just buy the cheapest product they have because you only need to cut off small 1 inch pieces.
How does this hold up in the heat? I've used hook and loop to secure taxi equipment to the dash and it always slides off on hot days.
It's been on for 2 years now and I've never had a problem with it coming off.
I've been hesitant to get the louvers for my challenger because of fear of them flying off. The heavy duty hook idea is great. Still have them on? How's it holding up?
Awesome man. No problems at all and it's so nice being able to take the louver off when I want to. Thanks for watching!
Great video👀
Thanks man - hope it was helpful!
Not sure if i missed it in the video. Are the velco not held on by 3M tape? Wont that be a hazard to fly off just as much as normal 3M tape?
Also, I am getting the style with the screw in pods. Do you recommend removing the 3M factory tape and replacing it on the pods with vecro?
@@tcol98 it is 3M adhesive on the velcro. The only testament I can give is that I've had this on my car for almost four years and it has never come off from the initial installation.
@@CTHellcat do you think that velcro product is strong enough that if used on the mounting pods only it will be enough?
@@tcol98 yes I do. It's amazing stuff and will allow you to easily remove the louver for cleaning.
@@CTHellcat okay cool. Just wanted info because without feeling in person I didnt know how strong it would be only on the pods. Theres about 12 pods it looks like and they look around 2 inches each to cover
Any special adhesive used to glue the velcro to the glass and the plastic ?
No, this specific velcro already has very strong 3m adhesive. Just make sure the surfaces are clean.
I have the same louvers and even with quality 3M automotive tape and 3M adhesion promoter, I'm starting to have lifting issues again.
Did you use any adhesion promoter on the velcro strips? Or did you just clean the surfaces and lay it down?
Just clean and lay it down. Haven't had any issues in over 6 months. Just make sure you get the stuff I show in the video.
Absolutely bad ass 🤙🏾
Thanks! Appreciate the comment 👍
update us this still good
Still holding strong after 3 years. Never had it come off and never had to put new strips on.
Man that’s sweet car
Thanks bro! Definitely having some fun with it.
The real question Scott is how did you line up the Scotch Velcro so well. If I was to guess I would say you applied it to the window first then cut out the corresponding Louver Velcro applying it to the window Velcro then mounted the Louver (at which point you attached the top Velcro to the Louver), am I right?
If I had not found your video, I would not have purchased these IKON v2 Louvers, well done thank you. Have to fabricate something for the flapping (center) but I will come up with something.
** By the way, yours looks bad a$$.
I cut the strips a specific length and made sure I had a pair of each strip. Then I put them on the bottom of the louver first. Once I had everything lined up on the louver, I put the matching pieces on the window. Glad the video was helpful to you!
@@CTHellcat Worked perfectly, thanks again, cheers.
@@richardbarr7191 that's awesome! Are you on Instagram? If so, let me know your account name so I can see some pics
Where did you find the LED lights from?
Got them on eBay. Just search for red led adhesive lights.
@@CTHellcat ok thank you

Thanks! Almost 2 years later and it still hasn't flown off!
How much Velcro did you have to buy for this install?
Just buy the size that I show in the video. You won't use it all but it'll be good to have some extra.
On iKON louvers the top is very narrow and idk if it would he enough coverage to stick on the top
I know what you're saying, but I've been going on over 18 months and have never had it come off again. It's definitely worth a shot if you have one of these louvers. Thanks for watching!
Will this technique work on other louver models like the glass skins?
It should, as long as the louver has enough of a flat edge for the two pieces of Velcro to make a good connection. Please report back and let us know if it works for your specific louver.
Great job you can you really thought this out like leaving gaps for water and removal. That's bad ass with lights on!!
Dude, The tapping was driving me nuts. It was totally embarrassing with people in the car - made it sound like a cheap rattle trap.
Is that reflective tape on the defuser?
Yes, I have 3m reflective red tape in several places on the car, including the spoiler, diffuser, and on the slot edges of the louver.
How did you install your led break lights on your back window?
I cover that towards the end of the video. They are are adhesive led strips, and I tapped into the brake light circuit in the trunk behind the passenger side brake light.
