This came up in my feed. Really like the mount. Simple and efficient. Nice. I use a Foredom TX daily and also own a SR. I have a couple of other flexshafts/motors and am not embarrassed to tell you that I killed my first SR after about a couple of years of complete abuse. If you're doing heavy duty work - I work with metal - consider either a SR with a square shaft or the TX with either shaft, keeping in mind that a square shaft limits the handpiece options. I did not opt for a square shaft on my TX and haven't felt the need. Too, if you're buying one new, consider opting for the metal pedal. It's a few bucks more, and offers noticeably more control and ease of use. Not as tiring. As for performance, the TX can spin 3" wire wheels with ease and run them _aggressively_ for as long as necessary. The SR is a little more limited. Depends on one's intended application. Good luck.
I just found it in my late mother’s lapidary set kit...wow! So now I’ve bought a hanger and so happy to see all the tools. I make jump rings for chainmail...i make several types of jewelry i.e.Persian, Byzantine, etc...love this for my new jewelry projects...
Jeremy Don't apologize for your neighbor's tractor noise. It's great to know that there are still people doing videos in their actual work environments. Far too many folks these days are shooting in sterile studio settings. Me, personally, I love the real world aspect of what you're doing, don't stop. Please do a video of your Foredom in an actual knife making project. I carved birds for years and bought a Foredom 25 years ago, before they got fancy with all the cutter options. It NEVER let me down. I stlll use mine with Carbide cutters for jimping mostly. I have an old R series. Dave
Looking at getting a sr but I want to texture hardened knife steels so do you think I should go with the tx model instead? Or is the sr powerful enough? I want the sr because it has forward and reverse but I not sure if it will bog down when I’m sculpting hardened steels. ?
I have a Foredom, but to be honest, a Dremel or even a Dremel knockoff with a flex shaft works just as well. The Foredom broke down and it's too costly to fix, so I bought a rotary tool from Princess Auto for $80 and it works great.
Hafa Adai (Greetings/Hello) from Guam! Thank you for sharing youtube video on the Foredom Rotary Tool. Looking forward to purchasing my first Foredom Kit.
Thanks for the excellent vid! If you look close at my profile pic the knife you see is totally finished with my Foredom (the main shape is done with a zip disk on an angle grinder). I started out making knives in the late 60's. I had to either use stationary grinders or take the temper out of the metal (I mainly use files and rasps) and file them with flat bastards, half rounds and rat tails. Re- heat treat and temper, then do finishing with the high speed buffers. Everything changed when I got introduced to the Foredom back in the early 90's and the amount of carvings I've done with it are phenomenal! I've even made my own mini circular saw blades for long fine cuts. I don't know how often you use yours but I've gone through 3 of them in 30 years... the more hand-pieces you have the longer everything lasts. AND DON'T USE TOO MUCH GREASE ON THE FLEX SHAFT! Cheers!
Bought a Foredom knock-off (1/4 hp!!) and really like it. Agree: solid mount it - it jerks off hangers on start - Great power: If it starts to bog, unlike a Dremel, just give it more gas on the foot pedal. Plenty of torque. Have used mine with a cutting wheel just as I would my metal bandsaw on solid steel up to 1/4 inch. Gonna give my Dremel to my daughter..... :/
Hi Jeremy: Enjoyed you Foredom video. My Foredom and # 44 handpiece are 50 years old and it's been my go to rotary tool forever.Being a retired dentist ,I have had "some" experience with these tools. I was wondering if you use various grit sanding discs. There is a company E.C. Moore Precision Abrasives, they have a system that combines a special mandrel with snap on discs. I saw in your block that your mandrels are pin screw type. These quick type snap discs make life much more simple.
Everything I've read Fordom is the way to go above Dremel tec. Building a Mini wood carver duplicatore and this will have to be the cutting tool !! great video !!
Just bought one of these. This has been the best video on the Foredom I have seen. thank you for the review. how do you think these compare to the dremel fortiflex?
awesome video, thanks for taking the time. think I'll pick one up! also as far as I know amazon don't like that, a channel called NCIX had theirs pulled. just a heads up
Thanks. And thanks for the warning. I'll have to see what happens. I know Wranglerstar sells a lot through his channel and so far no issues but how knows. Thanks for the tip! Cheers!
I have a question... how do you get that scale's dust vanishing so quick. I couldn't hear any "vacuum" noise. Anyone could advise? I have a nice workshop but just got an actual belt grinder (2×72).
Thanks for this vid! Jen and I got one of these the other week, just haven't needed to break it out of the box yet. We might just run a hook from the ceiling since we do not have shelving above our table like you do. PS. Loved the cut shot of the foot pedal. :)
hey thanks! They're fun. I've got a bunch of little personal carving projects I want to try but same thing, just haven't got around to it yet. Hopefully soon:)
I like to ask another question 2 years apart. Anyway, have you noticed if the jacobs chuck have more runout than using the collets? See you all in 2 years
@@joeynuggetz There is a difference. I clamped a H30 and a 44T in a Wilton C2 vise. Used ground ZZ-spec pins, and a Starrett 25-611 tenth indicator on a Noga Stand. The 44T with a .250" pin had about 1 thou runout. A hair less. The H30 with a .142" pin that happen to be sitting on my surface plate, just about 3 thou. All measurements were taken about 1/2" down. Hope this helps. FWIW, I was surprised by the 44T's performance.
His is a real Foredom. Beware of ones sold on eBay or Amazon that claim they are Foredom. Real ones start at around $250 or $300. The fakes go for around $60 to $120. I have read many positive reviews on these knockoffs, but I wouldn't trust them. Prodigy and Grobet make a more affordable but less powerful machine. My Prodigy is 1/8 hp. It works great. Anyway, just a heads up.
The Grobet machine is identical to lower powered Foredom CC counterfeits. The SR counterfeit is quite good sans its pedal. Replace it with a Foredom pedal and you're good to go. Good luck.

Right on. Thanks for chiming in on this. I've heard of quite a few guys who have had one for years and years, and when I was trying to find one used (looked for 2 months) not one came up. That says something right there. Cheers!
Hey great vids , what or where would you recommend for a foredom for a guy like me that's on a limited budget. I couldn't afford the 500$ unites so what about used ? And I mostly would use a 1/4 bits
On a limited budget, HFT sells a fairly decent flexshaft grinder. Its pedal is the weak spot. Replacing it with a genuine Foredom pedal would put you in the $100 area for the whole thing. I have it. Good luck.
Are foredoms any better with bit/burr runout? Or does it all boil down to the quality of the bits? BTW, don't breathe in that G10 dust man. It'll kill ya.
Yeah... already done that, but I wanted to purchase it through Jeremy's Amazon store link, to help him out. But he never got back to me, so I bought it directly from Foredom, I picked up a 2272 Kit, with a couple of add-ons, I got the H44T holder, the AK797210 belt sander attachment and a spare set of motor brushes. Already started playing around with it, got it about five weeks ago.
Jadon Ingalls thank you! I'm trying to get into knife making and had a Dremel but no angle grinder. I hear Dremel are also good for polishing knives if you have a fin enough bit.

Yeah not cheap that's for sure. But, it's just like everything in life. The good stuff usually costs more. Then it's a matter of if you would use it all the time or not. I just burned up a dremel, so going through one a year (or even less time) this should pay for itself and save me money in the long run. But yup, ain't cheap.

100% agree on the ambient "noise". You think your displaced farmboy viewer craftsmen mind that at all? LOL
Great demonstration, well spoken and clear.
Thank you very much 👍
Confirmed my decision. Had my Dremels yrs ago... but is a new day. Excellent and informative review!
Right on. Thank you!
I've owned and used my Dremel for years. Without a doubt, it's now time for a Foredom! Thank Jeremy for demonsrating the use of your Foredom!!!
I’ve done all kinds of work with a Dremel, but the Foredom is on a different level. Just got my SR.

Excellent vid, very cool tool. Impressive how quickly those bits removed material.
Thanks! It's is pretty crazy isn't it? Cheers!
Great demo Jeremy, thanks for sharing it. When my Dremel takes the plunge I'll getting one of these.
You're welcome. Cheers!

Great edition of TTT! I have seen some Inuk carvers that have those and always thought it would be a great upgrade from a dremel. Thanks for posting!
You're welcome. They are pretty stout machines for sure. One of those tools that you buy one for life. I like those kinds:)
Found your channel 2 weeks ago, really love what you're doing. Especially your tool reviews. Keep it up. 👍

I love seeing the timmies in the back round .... I'm from Ontario myself !:) ... great videos to!!
hahaha, right on. Cheers!
Foredom…brilliant but expensive…got a SR kit half price off EBay….so many uses…👍
I was just wondering. Will those bits that your using on your foredom fit on a dremmel. Dremmel's are supposed to have 4 different sized colletes.
Yeah I’m pretty sure that most all of these would work in a Dremel just fine 👍
Just bought one of these. This has been the best video on the Foredom I have seen. thank you for the review. how do you think these compare to the dremel fortiflex?
thanks for sharing, will pick one up.

Damn, this tool is awesome. Would love to get one eventually!
I've never even heard of those, pretty cool. Maybe one day

all kidding aside bro, Great series! helping me a lot.
Glad it helps buddy. Cheers!

Great !!! To have one machine like that here in Brazil we should pay the eyes of the face.
how much is the electrical power of your fordom in Watt?
How do you get to your amazon store?

I haven’t noticed that no.
If you're still interested in knowing, I can measure the runout on both handpieces. Last time I checked, the H30 was around 3 thou.
@@felixf5211 sure. Would like to know if there is a difference :-)

What is the attachment at 6:15 called? You think it could be used with a dremel?
It's a spilt mandrel and can be used with any rotary tool. Good luck.
¡Gracias!
Hi Jermey.
I am looking for this bits you showed used on the G10.
What are they called and where can I get them ?
See you # Jimmi.
Damn, just blew up my second dremel in less than a year...buying a third would be more than a foredom, going to look at these tomorrow...
and will you please write the decice number and information? I’d love to buy one

is it good for wood carving?
The internet has all the information you need.
just wondering what kit you have/is worth getting?
I have a Dremel that is about 15 years old, and it won't die. I will have a Foredom one day.
