This ain't easy Portuguese by a long shot but it's REAL Brazilian Portuguese so I appreciate it for that.

      In fact Sao Paulo capital and interior has a lot of influence from the Japanese, including the city of Marilia, the Japanese often say a lot Neah to confirm, the Paulistas too, consequently the Paulistas influenced Brazil a lot and is common in other regions.

      Gente, mas invisíveis pode ser realizado como i(n)viziveu em português. Alfabeto latino não é alfabeto fonético. A gente tem que aprender isso. Ou será que vocês acham que isso não acontece em outras línguas. Qi em pinyin não tem som de /q/ e nem r tem som de /r/. Eles estão mostrando como se escreve aquilo. Quem faz legenda normalmente estuda linguística e tem uma visão geral.

    I noticed in this video that they tend to pronounce the R in words like 'torta' and 'vergonha' more like the American R... This isn't prevalent throughout all of Brazil, is it? A lot of other Brazilian people I've heard speaking Brazilian Portuguese just more or less leave out the R sound if it's in this position...
    Beautiful language nevertheless! Obrigadão meus amigos :)

    • @arian7957
      @arian7957 9 років тому

      Akarin Siri No, it's not haha. For example, in the states of North and Northeast of Brazil, Rio de Janeiro, etc, the letter R's sound is more soft, different in São Paulo, where the letter R sounds like American R. These differences of pronounces are very commonly in Brazil, such as the S sound, E and I sounds, etc.

      Akarin Siri If you can, you'd like to watch these videos to get to know about the accents in Brazil, the dialects, etc: g1.globo.com/jornal-hoje/noticia/2014/08/sotaques-do-brasil-desvenda-diferentes-formas-de-falar-do-brasileiro.html | (for example: did you know that just Paraenses (people from the state of Pará) say "pitiú" when they mean "fish stink"? And that São Paulo says "bolacha" and Rio de Janeiro says "biscoito"? (both mean cookie)

      @andreannnndre 9 років тому

      This R pronounced like the American R, is more
      common here in São Paulo. I'm not saying that it only happens here, but is very different when compared with the R pronounced in the north of Brazil for example..

Then I will learn Spanish and then Brazilian Portuguese. I love the Brazil culture a lot. If I am consistent I shall be able to learn all 3 languages by 21.

    I'm Ecuadorian and I've been studying Portuguese for well over a year now so at this point I am very familiarized with the language and I speak it at a very good conversational level. It was a bit easier for me to pick it up since I speak Spanish natively and the two languages are very similar, yet still very different. At this point, I am proficient enough to tell that these people have a strong Caipira accent which I must say, I don't like too much. They pronounce the "r" very much like Americans. I'm not crazy about the way Cariocas (people from Rio) pronounce the 's' either, (shh) It seems Rio people are like the New Yorkers of Brazil, they do not like to pronounce the "r" at all, not even when it's in the middle of a word, while other accents in Brazil, if the "r" is in the middle of a word, they say it similar to how we say it in Spanish (ex. comercio). Overall, I prefer the standard Brazilian accent used on the Brazilian newscasts and used by many Brazilian celebrities. Very good video, still. I learned a few new phrases like "Sei la" and "aprontar".

    • @Aknight292
      @Aknight292 10 років тому +2

      The standard Brazilian accent taught outside of Brazil and spoken and used on television is the high class carioca. Like how business men in "zona sul" of Rio would speak.

    • @jsphat81
      @jsphat81 10 років тому

      ***** Muito obrigado! Yeah, that makes sense. I guess it's just like in Mexico that most of their celebrities and people in the media they export overseas have the typical Mexico City or "chilango" accent because is the accent they use on all of their telenovelas and comedy shows, therefore, all Spanish speakers recognize that accent as the "Mexican" accent. Gotcha.

    • @jsphat81

      Jorge Antonio You're right, I haven't. Portuguese is a very rich language and I still have tons to learn. I'm even trying to get used to the Portuguese from Portugal by watching Portuguese novelas on UA-cam so it's like i'm learning "two Portugueses" at the same time. I might have made a few wrong assumptions above regarding the Carioca accent (I think) however, for someone who doesn't live in a Portuguese speaking country nor has any Portuguese speaking friends, I've made quite a significant progress with your language. Many Brazilians even tell me I speak without an accent. I do have to keep practicing though, as I do find myself slipping into "portunhol" often since I'm not entirely comfortable with the language and since most Brazilians who live in the US, understand Spanish quite well, and most make a decent attempt of speaking it usually resulting into them speaking portunhol with us Hispanics in most cases. Although "portunhol" makes it much easier for Brazilians and Hispanics to talk to each other, I try not to be like the other Hispanics and practice speaking real Portuguese as much as possible.

    I'm Brazilan and I live in São Paulo. I'm surprised so many people liked this video. Perhaps because it's hard to find videos in Portuguese with English subtitles. "Easy Brazilian Portuguese"? How come? Nothing is easy in the video. It's a silly question, people speak very fast, with strong accent, lots of slang, and bad grammar. But who am I to criticize if so many people found it useful. I hope the videos improved over time, now there's 33 in the series. But this one, I'd name it "Learn Brazilian Portuguese The Hard Way". Sorry, author, but it's for your own good, really. I know you can do better.

      Rsrs - I find it interesting because you see the city life or wherever they travel to do an interview - you get to see some cultural differences and it's refreshing to take a break to watch a video, away from just a tutor or just an app or just a book/website.
