As someone who works in sunny southern California, the way these guys work in the cold is fascinating. We never have to worry about pipes+hydrants freezing, frostbite, or the engines/trucks not starting due to the temperature and it's admirable how they have adapted to these challenges

Awesome dedication by the Firefighters. I spent 35 years in the fire service and faced some harsh winter conditions, but nothing like that! However, one thing we all have in common, no matter where we are is our families are always happy and relieved when we return home safely after each shift.

A very enlightening episode. I was a Building Contractor in Southern California. The crews there complained about everything all the time. Russians never complain. They suffer in silence. They don't even dare to oppose their authorities sending troops to commit acts of aggression against a neighboring country. And your building crews know their rights and make sure they are not violated. That's the main difference between a totalitarian state and a democracy.

For instance, electrical conductivity will decline by decreasing of temperature, which possibly costs a big threat of welding work or any works supported by electricity.

@@sandhyanagarajan Hello, I used Google to translate the two comments above you. There may be errors but I think the translation gets the point across!
      1. "Yes, I have. For example, problems with pneumonia, kidney disease, heart disease. Diseases of vision. And at the expense of the fact that the locals are accustomed to the cold - this is not true. Nobody can get used to the cold. We have a hot summer + 40, a very warm autumn, we get used to the heat, and then abruptly - cold! A brutal cold winter is coming! But we remember it, therefore, we are psychologically prepared for it. Only mentally prepared, but still cold, but what to do?"
      2. "I still don't understand why it gets so cold there. It’s just that it happens there that at the end of autumn it was still normal, and then it gets sharply cold. And it would be nice if the temperature there dropped to - 15, but it drops to -30 to -50 degrees. It feels like the cold from the upper layers of the atmosphere descends sharply, just at an altitude of 10 km where planes fly just the temperature is 50 degrees. Living in the south of western Siberia, there are also frosts up to -30 to -40, but this is very rare. And you have a freezer there. If you had land there with frosts at least up to -30, it would be better and easier to live."

As a South Korean, we have for season. Super hot summer and super cold winter. Of course not as much as yakuts. Especially when I was in the army, I experienced -15 degree and realized about horror of the cold ! I can't imagine -60 degree !!

I really like watching these winter videos about Yakutia, since the extremely harsh winters are its main and unique characteristics, but let me ask something
In the future, will you do a video about an average summertime day in Yakutsk? I'm pretty curious how different the city and its inhabitants daily lives in a warm July day when it's averaging +26°C, occasionally above +30°C (I've seen pictures where people are bathing in the Lena river etc.) I would like to see a video like that aswell 😁

@Sofia Brown TBH I used ggl translate for this, and thanks for your answer, but that video is about a national festival (which was good to see) but by my comment, I meant everyday summertime city life in Yakutsk, not an exact event

Жизнь летом обычная, как в любом другом городе России. Довольно жарко, особенно на контрасте с зимой. Летом обычно +30-35°. Минусы лета проявляются, только в пожарах. Очень много дыма, который мешает дышать.

I just wanted to say thank you for this video and all your other ones too. You are obviously a talented filmmaker with your team giving the whole world an insight into your hometown. I always find them really interesting.
My only little bit of feedback is that none of the people featured here are women, who I've seen in past videos are at least teachers, nurses and I think doctors too.
Even in 2024 with a talented women filmmaker, it is still very important to feature women in all key aspects of society, especially work.
In fact, if you were able to, I think it'd be very interesting to make a video about what life is like being a girl or a woman in Yakutia.

That video was so interesting thank you. Definitely satisfies the curiosity in me. Yes I’d like to see the street cleaners receive more pay as well.. it may be because it’s unskilled labour but a living wage would be far more appropriate. ❤
