I can confirm this works for my Renault Clio dynamique 2004, but it’s not quite so simple. It takes a lot of messing around with the key before the car would start.
So please do the 2001 Renault clio also have a chip or sensor in it?...Cos i learnt my is lost that's why the red light is blinking and can i still used this method please
Hi! I’ve got a 2001 Renault Clio (1.5 diesel engine) and sometimes the red engine light is flashing (it’s over the handbrake light) while I try to start the car. Nothing happens if I turn the key, is it the immobilizer?

Yes more than likely. They fail very often on these cars.
