Growing up Christian any form of witchcraft was considered of the devil and it was a way of tricking those to serve him and not God. For the last 8 years I have opened my mind to the voice of other religions and pagan beliefs. I now gravitate toward Wiccan or witchcraft because of the freedom one has. It has helped me come through dark times in my life in the past years. I will continue to grow and learn more about witchcraft because the more I learn the more i keep wanting more and Thank you for videos like this!
Christianity will beat you down and make you feel guilty for every thought and feeling that is natural humankind. You essentially become a slave to shame and self loathing.
I know what you meant at the end. I watched this one UA-cam video about 4 historical witches and of course, there were a few people in the comment section saying that they were Wiccan or practicing witches and there was this one horrible guy who said really bad things. They replied to a Wiccan girl, accusing her of worshipping Satan and that witchcraft is nothing but Satanism and that it's all about curses and summoning demons. Of course, the girl denied and explained in detail what Wiccans and witches do, believe, what their practises are about and that it's not connected to Satanism or any bad things. There were several people joining in on the conversation, defending the poor girl but no matter what arguments and points they had, that person kept on saying the same things over and over again. All they did was discriminating the girl and those who helped her, saying that all witches and Wiccans would be judged by God and burn in hell later on and other stupid and really offensive stuff. Since they claimed to know that things like heaven, hell, demons and Lucifer existed (that person said they had seen a demon before or something like that), they were sure that judgement was going to come upon witches and Wiccans.
Such stupid and narrow minded people who think they're always in the right, without even knowing what they're talking about really get on my nerves 😤🤦🏻♀️

Pretty sure Christians aren’t supposed to force people into Christianity.
So to me it looks like the person was trying to guilt trip the girl.

There's actually a verse in the Christian Bible that is against saying a particular person(s) will go to hell: Judge not, that ye be not judged. (Matthew Chapter 7 Verse 1.)
I relate to what you're saying. A few months ago I watched a pagan festival video. I scrolled down to the comments. A guy was on there telling a girl she needed to repent. She told him she was 12 and knew her own mind. He was on there commenting to several people. There are unfortunately hardcore christians who judge no matter what. Some are so hardcore they even see Halloween as evil. If you have a jack o lantern outside, its an invitation for satan. Just my opinion, it's best not to respond. All it leads to is a war of words. Those people are toxic.

It's all over again! Just like in the beginning, when the church converted pagans to Christianity with fear, judgement, and death if you didn't convert to Christianity. How can a religion be so judgemental and still consider themselves divine, good, and worthy when they are constantly telling people they are going to Hell if they don't follow a Christian God. It's just pathetic! Those diehard bible beaters are usually the most deranged with skeletons in their closets. All they do is point fingers to distract others from their wrong doing.
The ancient Sumerian writings are a root source for the abrahamic “holy” books. They describe a struggle between Enlil (aka the god of the bible) and Enki (aka Satan). Lucifer is NOT the same entity as Satan but the titles are often used interchangeably due to mistranslations and ignorance. The concept of hell and an adversary named Satan are both part of the abrahamic religions control system. They attempt to keep people in fear so church seats and offering plates can both be filled. Peter Gray argues in Apocalyptic Witchcraft that we worked so hard to make Witchcraft acceptable to the masses and distancing ourselves from anything that stunk of brimstone that we did ourselves a disservice. Part of the power of the witch is that you are unsure what she represents entirely.

As I see it, their beliefs are based on what they consider is the infallible word of God. They say I do. I say I don't. They don''t believe me. Who do they believe, me or the infallible word of God? Content Request: I'd love to see more educational material on Left Hand Paths in general if you are open to it. I'm not a practitioner of a LHP myself but I am almost always open to learning new information about the various branches of witchcraft and witchcraft based religions and spiritualities.
Well the occult is diverse. The occult does believe in demonic enities and higher powers aka Satan. And others don't. Also witches can be good or bad. Its not just only bad or just only good. Witches or sorcerors whatever names you wanna call it. Can be dark or light or both. Thats why Banefuk magic is real and exists such as curses or hexes.

I am new to spirituality. I think there is a devil judging by all the suffering in this world. I will never worship him. I dont think Wicca is for me but i do feel just as passionate love for the universe like wiccans do.

Thank you for all your videos! I myself am coming into the Pagan world, leaning towards being a Wiccan I guess it is called. I have been a Christian since birth, or in that atmosphere. Recent events with my mother judging me about me being gay is pushing me closer to being 100% sure on my decision. I have ordered some books and will be doing a lot of reading this weekend. I think that there are always a light and dark side to anything we do. We should strive to do good things so good things come back to us. I am leaning towards a healing part of my studies. Not going into much here but I wanted to say thank you for the videos! Great info and very well spoken.

For most, no. I myself am an atheist. No biblical god or devil. There are some who do go down very dark paths. I don't, but I don't judge. Everybody has to follow their own truth.

That was a clear description of Wicca vs witchcraft… I don’t see some of the things you describe as being dark. I only see hexes, curses & harming as dark… also, I have a tendency to not think of something evil as dark; I really relate darkness as something beautiful, such as being out in the countryside near a bale fire 🔥 without streetlights or any other form of light except the stars. True darkness is awesome. I’m uncomfortable with any reference to devil/satan in reference to the craft. Don’t wish to give any credence to that idea. I do understand your point though. Everything I just shared with you was done from my heart & in no way was meant as a criticism to you. You seem experienced & knowledgeable. I hope you continue with these videos.

In sum (and very generically), they believe in the forces that the Devil represent but not in the Devil biblical figure by itself.
Even if the devil is real, we’ve only ever heard a one-sided account of who s/he is. In my view, Satan punishes evildoers. I’ve always seen the Christian god as a narcissistic parent and Lucifer was his scapegoat, so of course we only hear the bad things because of the source of the written material.
And yeah, nature just is. It just exists. There is no inherent good or bad to the universe. The idea of good and evil is 100% a human concept.
That's very similar to the views I have of Satan. Note: I don't worship Satan, but I believe in him and respect his existence and power. To me, I've always viewed Satan as the punisher of the wicked and monstrous. He also feels more like a morally grey, troubled individual rather than some cliché villain. What got me to think like this was that in Jewish beliefs, Lucifer is the first creation/child of God. That already makes things interesting. Lucifer and God were close but as soon as humans were made, Lucifer rebelled...why? As I thought about it, God viewed humans as the perfect creation, but from Lucifer's perspective, humans were vile, murderous creatures who wrongfully used his fathers name to justify killing and destruction. Lucifer tried to make God see things from his perspective but God ignored him. To make his father see reason and either destroy or improve humans, Lucifer rebelled because he cared for his father and wanted him to do better. For his treason, Lucifer was banished. Now in Hell, Lucifer punishes mortals who lived bad lives...why? In a sense, Lucifer still cares for his father and thus prevents the souls of evil humans from entering heaven and punishes those who lived lives of sin and wrongdoing. In essence, he prevents evil from poisoning the world and the heavens and encourage the living to live better lives. That's my perspective though.

There is a lot of conflation on both sides. The Roman Catholic Church (the Middle Age's version of Stalinist Russia) called anything pagan "the devil/Satan." At the same time, they took the gods they liked (Greek and Roman) and made them "Saints." Name a pagan deity and there is a Roman Catholic saint for that. Tradition to RCC is greater than the Bible, so quoting it to them doesn't do much. Roman Catholicism is pretty much Christian Paganism. Yes, that is oversimplified, but I do stand behind the principle. Those of us who are not Roman Catholic do get a little offended when we get the word Christian gets thrown into that pile.
Where we (Reformed Christians) come from on this is there is One True God, He has spoken to us through the Bible, which is greater than ANY tradition I may personally have, and salvation from ourselves is found only in Christ Jesus, God the Son. The Bible actually does have grey areas. Could I eat something a witch cooked for to honor a diety? That is a grey area. Can I wear a wedding band, since that is an old pagan tradition? That is a grey area. Can I read books you recommended? That is a grey area. Can I attend a service to learn more about a religion? That is a grey area. I think all of those things are okay and have done them all. But I know pastors who don't do any of them. According to the Bible, neither side wrong.
The Bible is black and white about a lot (Jesus is the only way to Heaven, The Bible is the only inspired and infallible Word from God, All people are equally created in God's image, etc.), but it does allow conscience to guide through grey areas.
I know this is a couple years old, but Wicca and Traditional Witchcraft has gotten popular in my area, so I've been doing some research. Also, I am 100% willing to discuss Christian perspective on things so you have all the information you need. I hope you don't mind me throwing some clarifications out here. While I am willing to discuss things, I'm not a fan of doing Bible Studies in the UA-cam comments, since my experience has been people unwilling to listen to my response, or trying to get a trick question from the 90's out without sticking around for the answer.

Some do worship the devil. Some do not some work with the devil. Some do not some believe in the devil. Some do not It's all an individual preference
I don’t know if I believe in the devil or not, but I do keep an open mind about it because what I’ve seen from ghost shows and some mythology.. however I really like the term wiccan and I feel like it fits me so well I don’t harm anyone but if someone in the witchcraft or wiccan practice decides to for whatever reason then that’s not my place to judge nor should it be a Christians place to judge a athiest, witch, satanist weather the satanist beliefs or doesn’t believe in the actual figure of satan. Simply it’s their practice and how they practice should be up to them just like I don’t work with the fae because I am a little scared of them I don’t tell others that they shouldn’t it’s all up to the person to decide

I don't believe in a devil, in demons, and in the concept if "evil"... Ive seen people whom are witches that do and use this word, "evil" or do believe in demons, etc. I believe it all to be of Christianity.
Satanism and Wiccans are two different worlds and there is much confusion to most people. Yes, wiccans have a spellbook but many of their spells and incantations are used solely for meditation/worship practices not unlike how Hymns are used by Christians. They are both used to praise their gods and bring positive spiritual enlightenment to one's own being. Spells are NEVER used to harm or manipulate others for selfish purposes...oh and a male witch is called...wait for it... A WITCH. Yes, a witch is not a gender specific term, and many males are mistaken for warlocks which is actually offensive to them, as warlocks are actually defined as a traitor of a coven. I'm an atheist myself and never practiced any of this but took the time to separate fact from fiction and learn something new. I find it quite fascinating.

There are many different sorts of witches. The ones you describe are among them, but other witches might have other beliefs than the ones you describe. No one speak for all witches. All witches use magic. Beyond that, they are able to disagree about everything.
I change my mind. Even the statement "All witches use magic" is problematic. Among some feminist witches in the 1970s and 1980s, it wasn't the magic that defined a witch, but the revolt against social norms. Witches define their witchery in so many ways, that it is hard to find any particular factor that is able to describe them all. They are too internally diverse. And are able to disagree about everything.

I'm curious why pan is refered to as a darker energy. I can see a "wild" energy or a untamed natural reflection of the forest and things like that but I dont know about "dark" . just curious what your thoughts are on that?
That's the Influence of Christianity in the first century to the present. A lot of the literature we have on witchcraft was of course written by either people that practiced magick during the time when Christians were convicting people of devil worship and witchery or records were written by those that were influenced by Christianity in some way. Most likely if you were able to time travel and ask someone that was uninfluenced by Christianity, you'd find that pan/Cernunnos or what ever you want to call the horned one, was not viewed in that way.

So I am more Celtic Pagan, think Neo-Druidism.
I think when it comes to Christian mythology (yes, from my perspective it's mythology) it does go deeper than just Europe with Pan or Cerunnos.
In the Middle-East, Satan or Lucifer the Morninglord and so forth was known as the first angel to betray God and led Adam / Eve astray. The first fallen angel, also Lucifer was ranked as second only to God. Eventually about a third of the "Heavenly Host" all became fallen angels otherwise known as demons. Yes, this Satan or Lucifer did go on into Europe and no need to repeat all the things mentioned here.
The other part is patriarchy - Ms. Ravenswood is absolutely right that the ancient world saw women having a deeper connection to the spiritual world. Men in power at the time didn't like this so most of the Christian religious groups only allowed men. Yes, nunneries did exist but they didn't wield political power like the pope and cardinals. Then these men in power vilified women spiritualists seeing them as consorting with demons and had them beaten, raped, tortured, and killed.
Yes, we've moved on since then, but Christianity still wields incredible political power and women are still seen as "witches" and discriminated against.

Always seemed to me a pantheistic understanding of creation and creator as interwoven with the deities as the representative manifestations of those faces was a way to understand these things. Granted that's just my outlook.

Christians do not like witchcraft because it is a practice that involves the worship of other gods other than their God, which is forbidden by the first commandment. The magic that many pagans consider to be good (such as healing spells) is considered evil by Christians, because according to them, people should not try to use magic in any form, as it distances them from the Christian God. Their God is far more powerful and any belief in Him is safer than doing magic, according to them. Take spiritism for example ... many witches dabble with it and can harm themselves in the process. The word demon is a corruption of daemon and means spirit. Daemons can be good, bad or even neutral. But some or all of them may be malicious, so Christians like to play it safe and leave the spirits to God's mercy. Let's say that not doing magic is safer because no potentially dangerous entity gets "disturbed". Anything scary they call it evil because they want people to stay away from it. Witches are less afraid of dark things by nature instead...

I always saw the Devil as an amalgamation of or even a parent to all the dark energy that courses through well everything. The name the Devil is just the Christian name for it, like god is Allah to some the whole bible thing always boggles me because even if a deity were to be the subject of it, a human wrote it thus carving his own imperfections into it. The bible was translated and reworded and changed to different versions that even the "deciphered" bibles can be read in many ways. A lot of it boils down to you only see what you want in my personal opinion I think a god exist a creator I think something else exist for the darker side and they cannot exist without a balance the name for it in any religion describes the same thing just because a Christian said it with their words does not invalidate it. The bible as a book is always interpreted by a human, humans ruined religion used it as a weapon. I see no reason to denounce it entirely based on the failures of a man. It all reminds me of Baphomet and how he came about he wasnt always Viewed as a demon and its name was not always Baphomet.

Spells & the same labeled as prayer carry no power, there is no all powerful deity who created the universe, & there is no supernatural battle between good & evil. Im shocked by the numbers religion can still maintain in 2022. Witchcraft & other beliefs that involve rituals r benign outside of fantasy.
