Nice review. 0.5 extra points goes to Outlander for interior. 2 extra points go to Rogue for exterior and for better spacing inside: I prefer larger trunk and back seat space on two rows than force to fit a tight, unpractical third row. Both have great interiors, yes maybe Outlander slightly nicer interior for the dash line and seat stiching , but I prefer the Rogue. However, both would benefit from extra 10-15 hp to match competitors. These are a bit underpowered, the RAV4 Hybrid has the dullest interior possible, and the CRV still has the ugliest back out there, the 2021 Tucson motor shuts down on offroad testing. They still have not invented the perfect affordable SUV for me 😆
Wow . They must have improved a lot . Mitsubishi always felt cheap to me from previous decades . I’m glad to hear they r improving on a shared platform vehicle. So it’s 4 wheel drive . Can u show more of that ,how it’s better than Rogue & others, operation of it ,& it performing ?? Great review
Just saw one on the lot in Tricolor White. It is very nice looking machine. With the 10 year 160,000 km warranty and new interior it would be a smart choice. Will wait for the PHEV to come out. Nice review.
The 4wd drive on the outlander is a good system. I had the 2014 and had no problem in the snow I don’t even have to shovel the snow for someone take my space so I came back and found the same space for I park.
great review, about the design, mostly the front end, correct me if im wrong but Mitsubishi made the design and concept with this exact front and headlight in 2015, way earlier then pallisade and any hyundai similar design, in reality Mitsubishi came up with this before, they just took more time to release the new 2022 outlander.
Good review. Just a honest feedback. You need either a good camera or a good cameraman. The video goes out of focus and than has to re focus again and that blur in between those shots is very annoying. Other than that all A+
What do you think causes the Outlander and Rogue to have different driving feels and sounds? Could it be because of the fact that the Outlander is only made in a Japanese factory while a lot of Rogues are made in an American factory?
Sam I am the kind of guy that that will buy a car and keep it forever. I get deeply attached to all my possessions. In your opinion could this Outlander and the yet to be released PHEV last 500,000 - 600,000 Kms or much longer with the required maintenance and care. My only other option really is the RAV4 Hybrid because Toyotas make cars and hybrid systems that last more than 500k-600k MILES in the USA. And the proof is so many Toyota Hybrids are used commerically in the form of Taxis and car rentals. So my question is can the Mitsi Outlander & Outlander PHEV rival Toyota for longevity (mainly engine)?
Nice video. Interestingly, while physically slightly larger and having the same wheelbase, the Outlander seems to have a smaller turning circle than the Rogue. 36.1 ft for the Outlander vs 37.6 for the Rogue (I’ve also seen 35.4 stated for the Rogue on Edmunds but I believe that to be an error because Nissan’s website says 37.6). So there is something different about the steering. Maybe that’s why Sam felt they drove differently?
@@SamCarLegion I guess I'm wondering what makes you think it's different? I wouldn't be surprised if the programming was different, but mechanically I'd expect it to be the same transmission.
@@pmusic6414 Mechanically the same, but it is tuned and programmed by Mitsubishi. Mitsu have been using CVT's for quite a long time now, and are very reliable.

I have a feeling that resale value will be much higher for the Nissan Rogue. Particularly where I live. Nissan sells tons of Rogues. Not many Mitsubishi cars sold at all.
Not loving the Outlander's exterior front end nor the bright orange interior bits (center console, lower dash, and stitching). I own a 2021 Rogue Platinum and love it...very quiet and silky smooth ride. I bought it because I hated the Rav4's Storm Trooper front end design and the CRV's awkward design overall. And, neither the Toyota or Honda rode as nice as the Rouge. I'm hoping Nissan's reliability will rival Toyota's and Honda's for the long term.
Question since the new Rogue has Turbo 1.3 l 201 Hp / 201 Tq and the Outlander has the 2.5 older Rogue Engine and powertrain, 181Hp/ 181Tq which one drives better because a lot of people says the upgrade in power is much better in the Rogue " Just Asking"
It's 100 percent Nissan under the hood so it has a really unreliable CVT8. I'd wait for the PHEV version Outlander, much better reliability. Also the new Outlander doesn't come with a spare tire!
This CVT it virtually the same as the CVTS Mitsubishi have been using for years now. They fine tune and program the CVT themselves, they are significantly more reliable than a Nissan CVT for example. Mitsubishi are better at the whole programming thing.
@@comareborn8734 I agree but there's another part of the equation. Mitsubishi uses underpowered powertrains to lessen the stress on the CVT7 & CVT8. The older Outlander had a lot less torque, the CVT killer, than this new one. The Nissan engine has more HP & torque. Its also hasn't been confirmed anywhere I've researched, that this new Outlander has INVECS III programming. From a manufacturing and streamlining of costs standpoint, it makes more sense that a Nissan engine would have Xtronic programming in order to save money. Its what I would bet on. This new Outlander is nice, greatest interior Mitsu has ever done, but its a vehicle to trade in just after warranty, not one to expect to get 200k miles out of like you would a RAV4 IMO. I'd stick with the proven Outlander Sport, the PHEV, or an older Outlander.
This potato is just a Nissan/Infiniti hater. Can’t take anything he says seriously. Saw the video on the Q50 vs g70 drag race (of course the potato was driving the knockoff korean brand), he was so disappointed when the Q50 won
Mitsubishi nailed this suv 95%. The CVT transmission is a horrible decision, 181hp is ridiculous, I think they put a cheap car horn in it, it needs a frameless rear view mirror, and the rear turn signals should have had led bulbs.
I absolutely love the exterior and the interior of the Outlander. I think it's stunning from every angle. Well done Mitsubishi!
I like both, but the warranty makes me prefer de Outlander over the Rogue.
