Yep, Ann provides the backing vocals on this one, and as somebody commented "the most over qualified backup singer in history". 😁 Nancy does have a beautiful voice as well..she is usually the one singing harmony vocals to Ann's lead, but starting with the Little Queen album she usually got at least one song on each album singing lead. Even more in the 80s. Had to suck for Ann that this song was Heart's 1st number one single...I mean it's lovely but better than Magic Man, Barracuda...Crazy On You? Nah. It was just the right song at the right time apparently. Heart didn't even write it--- it was Bernie Taupin (and I think Martin Page). If you want to hear more of Nancy's singing check out her 1999 recording called Live At McCabe's. You can find it on youtube. One of my all time favorites!!! ~~Katerina
Yes, & the more amazing thing was that when the song & video was recorded, Nancy had a cold, & still was able to pull it off!! Heart truly are voices of angels!
Nancy has always been a great singer. But I'll put her up against any male guitarist, past and present, and she will match or even blow them out of the water. She is an amazing musician. That is evident in Dreamboat Annie, and Crazy On You. Personally, those two songs should always be performed back to back, or they don't sound right.
@@MustangTennisCIA I concur. There's a lot of great guitarists out there. Ace, Slash, Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Terry Kath, Jimmy Page, Steve Vai, Eric Johnson, Eric Clapton, Brian May, Robert Fripp, Joe Satriani...it's one thing to be into a musician, but let's not get silly here. I have serious doubts she'll be "blowing them out of the water". You [Steve] may put her up there, but it's doubtful many guitar/music magazines would. Rolling Stone may not be the ultimate guide, but pretty sure Nancy Wilson is not in the same category as some of the above.
When she recorded the original, she had a cold which, apart from making it even more impressive, gave her that little rasp you can hear now and again, mainly during the chorus.
I do too! If you've never heard it you may want to check out her 1999 cd called Live at McCabe's...it's basically just her and the acoustic recorded over 2 night's performances at McCabe's Guitar Shop in CA. Not commercially successful but it's been a treasure for me because I love her style of playing and singing.
People always say she’s such a great guitarist, but I don’t see it. Don’t get me wrong, I’m a huge fan, but other that Crazy on You, I just don’t see where she shines on guitar. I’ve really never seen her do solo stuff, other that this video, where the flanger is out of control and the guitar sounds terrible. I’d love to see some videos that showcase her on guitar, if anyone knows of any.
I love Nancy but you're obviously not a musician, she is not a great guitar player by any means. She's a passable rhythm player, just because she's a female who plays guitar doesn't make her great. I've been playing guitar as long as she has and I'm far more accomplished. That's not her playing lead on all the great Heart songs. She plays chunky electric power chords and and sweet acoustic rhythm but it's stuff that hundreds of thousands of guitarists can play. Took me about four hours to nail the intro to (and the rest of) Crazy On You and I'm about number 4,000 on decent guitar players in the Portland area. That's probably the hardest song to learned that she's played and while it sounds difficult, once again, any accomplished guitar player can play it, doesn't make you great. Not trying to belittle her great song-writing, vocals and rhythm playing because I love her and I have always loved Hearts music.
@@kevino.7348You get it. The intro to Crazy On You is probably her most difficult work and while it's nice, any decent player can play it. My son was probably 14 when he could copy it note for note (and play it better than I could, ha-ha). There aren't any videos of her show-casing great guitar work because she's not a great player by any means. Just a female who plays guitar and people give her way too much credit for that. There's thousands of female players who are much better players, obviously they aren't as talented in their song-writing and vocal work or weren't lucky enough to make it big time but they're out there and I'm sure they cite Nancy as a huge influence. Love her and I love Hearts music but I played music professionally for 40 years, I've known and/or seen thousands of really great guitar players, so it gets under my skin when people who've never picked up an instrument in their lives refer to Nancy as a great guitar player.

Nancy..so beautiful
These dreams I see when I close my eyes the people with me I wake up and am surprised.. Ask them their name no clue who they are. The music taking me away very far... The music from Heart forever will ever live... Evil can take my family, can take my bowl , The heart you can never take my soul... That's love Baby..
What in the earth are u on about? Few screws loose here, might want to get a brain scan coz you are rambling on and on, 😂😂😂😂
This is my favorite Heart song because of Nancy. Big time crush!😂❤😂
Have always admired her beauty.
Hmmm... I totally hear Indigo Girls in this. Ann and Nancy paving the way, again.
Beautiful. Anne and Nancy are legends. From memory that is a Bernie Taupin song (lyrics).
Yes it is! First pitched to Stevie Nicks who (thankfully) turned it down🙂
Don’t forget Martin Page co wrote “These Dreams” with Bernie Taupin
