  • Loituma's Ievan Polkka with lyrics and translation.. with Orihime spinning a leek! xD
    Translation:
The sound of a polka drifted from my neighbor's
and set my feet a-tapping oh!
Ieva's mother had her eye on her daughter but
Ieva she managed to fool her, you know.
'Cause who's going to listen to mother saying no
when we're all busy dancing to and fro!
Ieva was smiling, the fiddle it was wailing
as people crowded round to wish her luck.
Everyone was hot but it didn't seem to bother
the handsome young man, the dashing buck.
'Cause who's going to mind a drop of sweat
when he's all busy dancing to and fro!
Ieva's mother she shut herself away
in her own quiet room to hum a hymn.
Leaving our hero to have a spot of fun
in a neighbor's house when the lights are dim.
'Cause what does it matter what the old folks say
when you're all busy dancing to and fro!
When the music stopped then the real fun began
and that's when the laddie fooled around.
When he took her home, when the dancing was over
her mother angrily waiting they found.
But I said to her, Ieva, now don't you weep
and we'll soon be dancing to and fro!
I said to her mother now stop that noise
or I won't be responsible for what I do.
If you go quietly and stay in your room
you won't get hurt while your daughter I woo.
'Cause this fine laddie is a wild sort of guy
when he's all busy dancing to and fro!
One thing I tell you is you won't trap me,
no, you won't find me an easy catch.
Travel to the east and travel to the west but
Ieva and I are going to make a match.
'Cause this fine laddie ain't the bashful sort
when he's all busy dancing to and fro
I do not own any images/audio. This video is entirely for entertainment purposes.

Well, you're right. Finish is actually harder to learn than Danish. Unless you're from the north-east since the have some grammar-rules incommon. Finish is at this point the second hardest languege to learn, based on test results on kids.

Not finish... Its Finnish. And yes, it is very hard as a language, because of all the different endings to the words. If I remember right, it is 5th hardest language in the world (according to many different news papers And for example WatchMojo). Anyways, when Finnish people speak English or as we call it, rally English, the pronouncing isn't perfect, but it is clear.

Japanese and chinese is actually very easy to learn, its actually easier to learn than spanish. That however, also depends on how foreign you are to the languege, europeans have ofcourse a bonus on speaking a languege from europe.

You said it man. I'm trying to learn finnish along with danish. The second one is easier, I can speak for 10min straight, but finnish is another thing ; I know just some words, the only songs I understand is Juodaan Viinaa and Keep on Galloping from Korpiklaani. PS : I'm just 15

Actually estonian is a bit harder than Finnish. Im estonian and we can speak with finnish people so, that we both speak in our own language and we both understand. But estonian language has more grammar rules and that stuff.

Actually, Polski is harder to learn than suomi. I looked it up, and we have more rules than grammar, + our pronunciation is almost impossible, I havent seen a non slavic speaker ever learn our language.

Oh haven't you? Search for "Ignacy z Japonii" on youtube. Dude mastered Polish in just 2 years ;) Polish is difficult, but plenty of people attempt and manage to learn it so don't be a snob!

    • @zepeterinma
      @zepeterinma 4 роки тому

@@Stormchantress I mean, I speak Japanese too.. Learning a language isn't difficult for anybody. People are just too lazy to do it intelligently, and consistently.
In my comment, I only said that I haven't seen it, not that it doesn't happen.
Still, the pronunciation is a pain for anybody, so even if you learn the language to complete fluency-many unexpected nuances in your annunciation arise from a lack of muscle memory in regards to having made* certain shapes with the tongue while making certain sounds.
english sh has the tongue between the teeth, sch in german has the teeth clenched and air accelerated quicker, sz in polish has the lips puckered inwards rather than outwards like in english and has the velocity of the german sch, giving it a unique sound. Then the ś sound has the tongue positioned in a way where it's quickly pressed against the back of the bottom teeth, as if you press it against the top, the sound will be very off and easily distinguishable. The list goes on.
Also I made that comment 6 years ago.

This song tells about that time, when women had to move to "miehelä" or "men's town" that means the place were the man lives. Ieva's, or actually Eeva's mother doesn't like this man, who is in love with Ieva.
