👩🏻🍳 MY COOKBOOK:
bit.ly/48yglCc
00:00 intro
2:08 Pad see ew:
2 tbsp light oil
4 tbsp soya sauce
2 tbsp sugar ( light brown sugar is yummy but any sugar works! )
2-3 servings of Rice noodles ( thicker ones are better )
4 king oyster mushrooms ( optional )
1 large punch of choy sum ( sub for chinese broccoli or 3-4 baby bok choy )
1/4 small green cabbage
1/2 medium sized cooking onion
4-6 cloves garlic
1 block firm tofu
1 small red thai chilli ( optional - you could do half )
- place your rice noodles in a large bowl cover them in hot water then place a plate or lid on top. Set aside
- mix soya sauce and sugar together ( the sugar might not dissolve )
- slice your block of tofu as seen in the video
- add one tbsp of the sauce to your tofu and set aside
- slice your oyster mushrooms length wise ( optional - you can cut them in whatever fashion you desire )
- dice your onion, chop your greens, dice your cabbage, mince your garlic and chop your chilli
- heat a large pan on medium heat, add 1 tbsp of oil and cook tofu on both sides until golden brown. remove from the pan
- in the same pan put the last tbsp of oil along with the mushrooms, onion and garlic, keep this moving in the pan so the garlic doesn't burn! After a minute season with 1 tbsp of the sauce and cook for 1 more minute until adding the greens and cabbage. cook until the greens have softened but still have a crunch to them ( about 7-9 min ) adding the chilli mid way through
- strain your noodles
- add your noodles and tofu back to the pan along with the rest of your sauce ( feel free to add a touch more soya sauce if needed! ) Mix together really well then serve
6:54 Mango sticky rice
12:15 Pad Kee Mao ( drunken noodles ):
2-3 servings of Rice noodles ( thicker ones are better )
1/2 medium sized cooking onion
10-15 green peas ( the whole pod )
1/4 small green cabbage
5-7 baby corn ( canned or raw )
handful of choy sum ( sub for chinese broccoli or 3-4 baby bok choy )
1 small red thai chilli ( optional - you could do half )
2 cups of thai basil ( I made a mistake in the video! )
1 block firm tofu
3 cloves garlic
2 tbsp light oil
- place your rice noodles in a large bowl cover them in hot water then place a plate or lid on top. Set aside
- mix soya sauce and sugar together ( the sugar might not dissolve )
- slice your block of tofu as seen in the video
- dice your onion, chop your greens, dice your cabbage, mince your garlic and chop your chilli. break the top and fibrous bit off your green pea pod ( as seen in the video ). Take the outside of the baby corn off and dice into large chunks
- heat a large pan on medium heat, add 1 tbsp of oil and cook tofu on both sides until golden brown. remove from the pan
- add the remainder of the oil along with garlic and chilli, keep this moving so it doesn't burn! after 30 sec to 1 minute add your choy sum, cabbage and onion. season with 1 tbsp of soya sauce ( cook for 7-9 minutes )
- in the mean time collect 2 cups of thai basil and strain your noodles
- once the greens are cooked but still have a crunch to them add your nooodles to the pan along with the sauce, about 2 tbsp of water and your thai basil. mix together really well and serve!

There is one thing that can be used replace the oyster sauce it’s called the mushroom sauce , I highly recommend it 😊
Thank you for making such an inspiring videos.❤ As a Thai person, I am happy that you veganized Thai recipe so more people can enjoy it.
If you can get your hands on mushroom sauce please do! pretty sure they're available in most grocery stores! They're a perfect substitute for oyster sauce (which is a key to authentic flavours of soooo many Thai dishes) but vegan!
You're my fav UA-camr, Julia, I don't know how you make it, but you always make me smile and your videos put me in a better mood! You're just a ray of sunshine 🥰
Absolutely loving these videos, Thai is hands down my most favourite food, you seem so much more settled this trip as well, I suppose it's because you really decided officially you're travelling, tied up loose ends, sold stuff and jumped in with both feet, it's so lovely to see you so content, you're so brave Julia, you should be really proud of yourself, if you ever call over to Ireland hmu, come stay with us 🙂
Thank you for always giving us inspiration to try new dishes. Pad See Ew is AMAZING, one of my faves. Looks delicious.

Julia, If your ever looking to try 🥭 sticky 🍚 again. I would highly recommend you Marion’s Kitchen and Seonkyoung Longest UA-cam channels. They actually have a 🥭 sticky 🍚 recipe they make if you scrolled down.
Julia, your recreation of a 🥭 sticky 🍚 kinda look like your eating oatmeal or porridge.
i like veggie pad thai and tom kha soup
Choi Sam (菜心) is indeed Chinese broccoli
Mango sticky rice is the trending recipe
Anyone, does Julia ever answer any comments? If so, Julia dear -- where did you get your yellow apron, I love the style! Also the towel thing you dried your hair with, is it a special design? How would I find one like that on Amazon, what's it called? I see you're enjoying Thailand!
The apron I bought on Etsy a couple years ago. It’s actually a large kids size because I was scared the adult ones would be to long lol! But unfortunately I don’t know the shop I got it from anymore! I’m sorry 😞
As for the towel it’s not a special design I thought I was buying a special hair towel but it’s more like a long T towel so I just figured out how to wrap it around my head lol
Too cute
my rice cooker can even get it right 🤣
How would compare the Asian 🔪 to the American 🔪?
Jail, that sauce deserves jail
Did I see meat being cooked on the side
I was in a public kitchen in the accommodation I was staying, someone else was making dinner beside me!:)
