    Wow... this Westy has some notable crunch to it, but, as Mustie1 has shown us, VW busses like this (and worse!) can truly be restored and on the road. It's worth saving! I've become hooked of these videos!

    We had a very camper- it was a around a 66 or 67. Red vinyl seats, do pop up on the roof. From was a bench seat had the ‘ ice box’ and water pump. Thought it had a sink, but I could be wrong as I was pretty small! Absolutely loved that bus! Probably why I’m obsessed with van life!

    I think finding/buying and bring them home is the best part. Working on them is fun too but not the same. If I had money I would buy more! Keep them coming!

    Break out the snips, body hammers and welder stir up the mud or break out the torch, solder, lead, files, paddles and bees wax (for the old school boys) and lets get at it. 😁👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻looks like you have a great project there. Oh forgot about the fun part the sand blasting. Oh yeah!

    Love the westy. I sometimes close my eyes and imagine camping in it with the family. Would be pretty rad. I didn't know you would be at transporter Fest I was there. I was mostly Parts hunting the whole time digging deep in boxes. Then chilling with the nh boys. Sorry we missed each other. Rock on!mx

      Oh okay, I got there right at 9:30 and left at 12, Parts hunting is always my favorite but when mustie1 is showing a car there's something special about that. as far as car shows I think that's my last one this year

    I changed my mind, I don’t want to trade buses, lol. ‘66 did have HO blocks, check those #’s. Find the lock code and I’ll send you a key.

    My brother had a 65 Combi, same color, if only that could talk! My father had a 66 Beetle who was 6 volts, I thought this being the same year would also be 6 volts not 12!

    • @5150mxVW
      @5150mxVW  5 років тому +1

      hey Dave , that is very cool , yes it was a factory option I think that dates back to 64 on the buses , maybe even earlier . Perhaps the commercial uses of the buses had something to do with it ?

    Will you be making videos when you start working on it. That would be nice , I am assuming you’re doing it yourself. Doors from other years will fit. UA-cam is a great platform for parts and help.

      Hey Joe, yes I hope to make some repair vids , no HOW TO's though ! lol . I need to sell some cars to fund the parts and make some room in the garage though . Thanks for checkin in !

    Hey! Was the crank moon roof in the fiberglass pop top stock, or an add to the SoCal42? Also, wasn't the 12-volt Zenith year 1967? Thanks, and congratulations on your new forever baby Splitty Westy Campmobile.!

    • @5150mxVW
      @5150mxVW  5 років тому +1

      Mari Larsen hi , looking at it now it looks like a newer add on . 67 was the first year all buses were 12 volt but the M code on this shows it factory 12 volts . I’ve seen a few mid 60’s buses come thru the factory 12 V , must of been an option . Thank you , much appreciated

      @@5150mxVW Right! Last chance for Splitty, first chance for 12 v. My '67 was made at the factory in Westfalia judging by the little placard on the bottom shelf below the "couch". I'll check letter codes to confirm. The icebox and all interior are the same as your's right down to the shiny silver CAMPMOBILE sticker! I love my Bus. My sanctuary for 20+ years!

    Are you in the business of rescuing derelict vw's and then fixing them or flipping them? You must have bought 100 of them by now! Sorry I missed the show this year. Gosh, it was full of UA-cam celebrities!

    • @5150mxVW
      @5150mxVW  5 років тому +1

      I've only sold a few over the last 4 years I have been chasing them and they were all generally owned for at least a year . I will be selling a few as it's time to buy some parts for the projects and I have ZERO $ for that ! It was a great show , sorry you missed it !

    • @lionreb
      @lionreb 5 років тому +1

      Thanks for sharing. I went with my 83 Westphalia a few times, but it's been sold since.. still fun to go to the shows. Yes, Those projects can be expensive!
