- Hope Cove is a place where the soul finds solace amidst breathtaking beauty. Nestled along the rugged South Devon coastline, this enchanting village exudes a charm that captures the heart instantly. The moment you step into Hope Cove, you are greeted by the mesmerizing blend of golden sands, crystal-clear waters, and dramatic cliffs that create a postcard-perfect landscape.
The village itself is a quaint haven, with its charming cottages, welcoming pubs, and vibrant community. Here, time seems to slow down, allowing you to savour every moment.
In 1588, the ships of the Spanish Armada passed the village as they moved up the English Channel. After the Armada was defeated and headed back through storms, the San Pedro el Mayor, a transport ship fitted out as a hospital, was blown onto the rocks between Inner and Outer Hope. The 140 survivors were initially sentenced to death, but were eventually ransomed and sent back to Spain.
There are 343 properties in Hope Cove of which 248 are second homes/holiday homes.

Arrive early for a car parking space! There are quite a few reports of visitors being charged a parking penalty after paying to park. Keep your ticket for a number of weeks.
