Saw Stanley perform School Days at the Roxy Theater in W. Hollywood in September 1977. Outstanding performance! Ticket price $6.50. This is the link to that show: ua-cam.com/video/JaiGzaGu2f0/v-deo.htmlsi=YUNxAn5_Dw66KHWz Enjoy! With Peace and Love to all! (Michael)
Oh the joy I had discovering Stanley Clarkes solo work around 45 years back! The distinct tone of him and his Bass, the dry but expressive drum sound and the keys of David Sancious... I love the special sound of his band which also can be heard on his collab with Jan Hammer.
Kinda Midnight At The Oasis feel… a little slowed down which definitely matches my mood right now. Stan the man! David Sancious on moog, come on, you could have fluffed a little bit more!
PERFECT! A Quiet afternoon here warm and sunny for a change. Hardly any sleep last night. And I just came back from my walk. After this I'll take a nap and drift off to more Stanley, with Herbie, Wayne, and Hasan to "Cantaloupe Island". Peace, Love, nitey nite.
I think the first time I heard David Sancious (who was playing the melody here on the mini-moog) was on Clarke's 1975 album Journey To Love, where he played electric guitar. One song featuring Sancious on guitar is "Sky Church Hymn #9", on his 1976 album Transformation (The Speed Of Love), which goes from acoustic slide to distorted fusiony electric.
Oh Yeah...Stanley Clarke is awesome. The whole album is really good. Justin might want to check out the tunes "Hideaway", "Old Friends", "Passenger 57 Main Title" and "Lisa". I just love those tunes.
I've always loved the sound of fretless bass, and Stanley Clark is a master of his art. Steve Gadd is great as always. However, I have to say that the slightly jokey, trebly synth patch on this one gets in the way of enjoying what the others are doing.
Got some punk recommendations that you should definitely check out! Descendents - Hope / Suburban Home Johnny Thunders - Born to Lose / I love You The Vibrators - Into The Future / Bad Time Zeros - Don’t Push Me Around / Wimp Alternative T.V. - Fun City / Mirror Boy The Weirdos - Life of Crime The Germs - Lexicon Devil / Dragon Lady Black Flag - Nervous Breakdown / Fix Me The Nips - Gabrielle The Lurkers - Ain’t Gotta Clue / Self Destruction
Nice. Makes me want to take the afternoon off from work, go to a city park, and sit in the sun.
You should definitely do that, if not today, soon. Hope you’re doing well bud.
@@-davidolivaresI am well. I hope you are, too, my friend.

The studio version of Lopsy Lu is stupendous.
Indeed! I have recommended “Lopsy Lu” often.

I’ve managed to get two other reactors to react to it. They both loved it, as if that was ever in doubt.

Naps are king these days…

Great fretless bass... Stanley has been a favourite of mine for 50 years.

Justin thankfully reacted to the whole of Transformation (Speed of Love) album.
The incomparable Steve Gadd on drums.
A beautiful track, and so smooth it's frictionless.
i'm floored by this one too, my cynicism has been eradicated.
Oh this is just what I needed this morning. Thank you.
Top 10 album for me.
You should react to Lopsy Lu. You will absolutely love that song
Thumbs up. Hit me in the right mood.
👍Something to relax about after the tense Crimson track!😉

Fantastic album.... Keep reacting to it
You could easily do both Stanley and Jean-Luc with "The rite of strings" All acoustic with Al Di Meola, Stanley Clarke and Jean-Luc Ponty
