The jury will readily see the human side of Cohen’s story. It’s easy to understand why he would plead guilty to things he didn’t believe he did just to keep his wife out of being criminally charged when she had nothing to do with it. And it’s easy to see his rage and desire for tRump to be held accountable when he himself went to prison for participating in crimes at the request of and for the benefit of tRump. I think we all would be enraged if we felt our loyalty was abused.

I hadn't heard about his flag at all. It's clear that the majority of the court is now extremely biased, but hearing about Alito flying the American flag upside down is infuriating. I want a court that is legitimate and unbiased. It's bad enough that Thomas's wife is part of the insurrection. The Supreme Court has become the Trump court, and I'm sick of it. I want integrity and justice brought back to our judicial system.

When politicians show up instead of family seems like it strengthens the case that he paid for political reasons and not for his wife.
I'm sure the jury noticed both who did and who didn't show up. It's just one more piece of evidence that it was all about the election. Lots of witness testimony and just the timing of it all confirm that as well.
And the defense's claim in their opening that none of this ever even happened is just laughable at this point. That has to make it hard for the jurors to find the defense very credible. Overall I'm feeling good about his verdict. I don't think there is any chance we will see a NOT GUILTY verdict. The only way I can see anything but a GUILTY verdict is if there is at least one diehard Trump cultist in the jury box and we get a hung jury.

You draw a line from corp media assuming viewers are stupid to explaining their avoidance of exploring issues indepth. But corp media companies have been a long time in development. And viewer ratings data have driven that development inexorably toward slicing & dicing content into narrower and narrower bits that appeal to ever more closely targeted audiences -- enabled by the birth and growth of cable TV, and now redoubled, in almost a precisely parallel development, by the explosion of Internet-based news dissemination via social media, podcasting, and network redistribution online of broadcast segments, much of it now allowing audience interaction via comments.
We've arrived at a moment when audience-driven means (time spent on websites, clicks, comments, etc.), all measured and analyzed by Big Data, now deliver the specific ends demanded by each individual consumer of "news" (in its expanded form -- this is not our grand-daddies' Walter Cronkite "reading" to us).
In truth, each of us now "creates" our own, tailored "news" -- and it seems to have resulted in the sort of radical fragmentation that UNdoes normal social cohesion.
So, jeffrylyon, in a sense, stupid drives stupid, but without any self-consciousness or intentionality.

Having judges appointed by any political party is fraught with dangers. Having lifetime appointments just compounds the problems. Jail is NOT a cure because it does NOT rob him of his power in and leadership of the MAGA movement. It WILL, however, diminish his power. No more bizarre and vicious circus-clown rallies to motivate the troops would be a nice start. We have seen Mafia bosses continue to control their mobs from behind bars & Trump is going to be a danger until his rapidly increasing dementia becomes so bad he can't remember what MAGA stands for (currently, "More Attorneys Get Arraigned"). Trump already can't get through an entire speech without demonstrating classic signs of his increasing dementia: aphasia, polyphasia & confabulation. These are NOT the signs of a healthy mind merely aging, but are mental aberrations we only see after a stroke or Altsheimer's or some other diseased deterioration of cognition in the brain. Donald's father, Fred, had Altzheimer's and we do know there is a genetic tie in many families to the disease. One might also suspect that Trump has a case of second-degree syphilis, like one of his heroes, Al Capone, given with whom he sleeps around.

I love the way the way the law is explained and broken down for the average person to understand. I think most of us watching understand that the things that are discussed are against the law, but hearing each case broken down in a way that's easy to digest for non lawyers is great.

Impeach all judges that were appointed by Donald Trump. They are all corrupt.
It should be expand supreme Court spaces , we should have 12 judges on the supreme Court.
Now calling for SCOTUS to be jailed , third world logic .
THEN THEY DO IT BACK TO ALL DEMOCRATIC JUDGES AND THINGS ARE JUST STUPID FOREVER FROM NOW ON. this is not a serious suggestion. Just make it not for life. A life long supremely powerful judicial group of people in robes is too powerful for the decision of who they are to be up to a single political party even if they happen to hold the Executive Branch and the Senate. The fact the power is so out of scale is evidenced by Mitch McConnell being willing to poach an Obama pick to hold it vacant for a Republican, I am still not sure why such a violation of his leadership duties was entirely without consequence, refusing to even meet with a nominee for over a year. Just make SCOTUS as 10 year term or something. As it is, Trump's crafted majority of fascists on there will shape this country for maybe 30+ years, which is goofy when a President only serves for 4 or 8.
