    i get my period and my skin goes horrible then for the next month my skin slowly starts to heal and just as it starts to get better i get my period again. 😤 it's a never ending cycle and it's destroying all my confidence. Anyone have any tips?

    • @slategrayy
      @slategrayy 6 років тому +14

      aisha ann Definitely best to get your hormones tested so you can work out a plan of action. You can’t go wrong with balancing your blood sugar and reducing your androgens - I’ve started to see good results with drinking spearmint tea and supplementing with Licorice root

    • @QZoe
      @QZoe 6 років тому +2

      Sarah Perkins can I drink the licorice root with The spearmint? I only ever get acne 2 weeks before my cycle and weird question do you sleep on your back? Or side I notice that sleeping on my side(right I tend to break out and vice versa with my left) I really can’t sleep on my back no matter how hard I try

    • @slategrayy
      @slategrayy 6 років тому +4

      stephanie paul yes I take both - I mix the liquorice root with some warm water in the morning and drink 3 cups of spearmint tea throughout the day. I’ve never really thought about which side I sleep on, I can’t sleep on my back either! I doubt this would cause acne but I guess it could prevent any acne from healing quickly. Let me know how you get on with the tea and liquorice root :)

    thankyou so much! I'm literally about to cry because I so happy! I was just about to start taking birth control pills as a last resort to solve my acne! I never want to take bc but ever since Ive turned 30 this horrific painful acne has appeared on my lower cheeks and along my jawline and neck! This information is worth diamonds! Ive been Vegan for 2 years and I couldn't understand why I would get acne since I never eat meat and probably only had dairy a handful of times in my life. I appreciate this and look forward to your next video!

    This was great! Do not apologize!! :) All super useful information. THANK YOU SO MUCH. My hormonal acne has been out of control the past three months. I've always suffered from acne, and changing my eating habits absolutely improved it. I was on a really great high for a while with my skin and stress (even though I thought I was fine) was the key trigger for this. Stress caused me to not be as diligent with my eating habits and my skin has suffered, so much!! UGH. All of your very detailed explanations confirm that I for certain am insulin resistance and have high androgen levels. WHO THE HECK KNEW?? Really appreciate this. Anyone who is serious about solving the issue and getting to the root will appreciate this video.

    Really fantastic summary. Just a note- DIM less than 100mg acts as a detoxifier however more than 100mg will act as an adrogen blocker and an estrogen protaganist. It is still a better option than Spiro.

    • @janedoe5749
      @janedoe5749 6 років тому

      Hi, when you say it is a detoxifier, does that mean it lowers estrogren? If it makes estrogen more with over 100mg, is that better to rid acne? :)

    You really convinced me! Your video is awesome and you really seems to know a lot (I'm a biotechnologist so I'm quite familiar with lots of things you said while you were explaining). I think I have exactly the same thing you said, acne on the low part of my face, on my shoulders, hair loss, and I noticed a bit growth of hair in my face. I have acne for 9 years already, it got worse when I was 20 years old so I started using birth control pills because of my cousin and it did cleared my face for the first time in my life, but it also gave me little varicose veins, so I stoped with the pills and my face started to get worse and nothing helped, I even tried the pills again and it didn't help so I changed the pill and nothing. My dermatologist wants me to take accutaine but I don't want to, it's worse to my health, I've been searching natural ways to heal my acne in the past 2 weeks, and there's dairy free diet, oils, face masks, zinc, vitamin c, primrose oil, just so many things that I was going to just buy everything and see what works, but with this video, it really hit me because I've been negectly this side of my life, that is my hormones. Really thank you, I'm going to make these exams as soon as possible. Sorry for my bad english, it's not my first language.

    I have taken NAC supplement and I believe it gave me worst acne instead of improving it. Before I started taking NAC the left side of my face was completely clear and I just had very few acne on the right side of my face.. but after I started with NAC there was an increase of acne on both the sides of my cheeks. I had to take progesterone tablet too after two weeks of starting NAC and in just a week I started getting extremely bad cystic acne on my jaw line. My diet is pretty much clean.. I don't take sugars, no carbs, no poultry, no plastic, no dairy. I only take vegetables and I follow a strict workout regimen and I take fish oil supplement and probiotics. So I'm sure my diet hasn't caused me acne. I'm not sure if NAC caused me acne or the progesterone . If anyone can suggest if I should continue NAC supplement or not

    Love this video. It was amazing. Not too much info at all. Im very analytic and love the summary you gave on how hormonal acne is caused and helpfull tips. I th8nk I noticed a slight error where you probably meant to say decrease DHT I think you said Increase DHT. At time slot 22:50 I think you meant increased DHT can be lowered with those supplements because DHT is the acne causative factor. Xx

    At 46, I just hit an all time low this week. Never been this bad. I don't even think I was this bad as a teen. I am horrified. I am starting to avoid people and going out. Just like aisha ann mentioned, period happens, horrible skin, just when it starts to clear, the cycle starts all over...so disheartening. The last year or so I started getting this as well as a little bit of rosacea. Two years ago, house fire, one year ago mom passed away suddenly. Possibly stress related. Just bought a juicer. I am desperate!

      @amandamarta2722 6 років тому +4

      Sunny Zannini I also cut sugar from my diet and it helped wonders for my
      skin and body. First, cut processed sugar as this should be a gradual process. Get rid of sugar in teas and coffees. Avoid eating sugary packaged foods and cereals. Get rid of pop and juice that isn’t 100% fruit only. Anything chocolate bars, etc. must go out. Sugar is hidden in a lot of foods. Then, natural sugars you want to keep but eat only an adequate amount each day and what is needed.

I've had acne for almost 10 years, but when i went off the pill last december, i have been suffering from hormonal acne since. please tell me what you suggest.

      Naturopathic Beauty it has improved but I still have active breakouts every few days, still cystic. Things are healing a lot better but still last a long time with lots of redness. Being in my 20’s and not eating or living the way I want to has been so hard and I can’t see myself continuing to spend the insane amounts of money just for things to MAYBE work- I’ve considered accutane countless times but terrified to go on the pill / all its side effects.

    hi, i've been on a severe diet for months and after this experience i can tell that only medicine have the biggest impact for me - and with biggest i don't mean faster. medicine and pills are not everything but sometimes our body can't do everything on its own

    @Naturopathic Beauty Thank you so so so much for this video, so informative and actionable - it's the first time I felt compelled to take some notes and didn't feel overwhelmed/discouraged!! When you talk about cutting sugar, do you include fruits (the high in sugar kind) or only refined/added sugar?

    I love your videos, thank you! I just got my copper iud removed after having acne, mood swings, anxiety/depression, odd cravings and such and although my mood swings and anxiety/depression has significantly improved already, I had a crazy breakout a day out I got it removed. The doctors told me, the copper iud doesn't cause any of these side effects, but the thing is I never had any of these issues before my insertion. (note: I am very sensitive to anything and everything, including all metals). This being said, I now don't know how to recover from having copper in my body for almost two years. Any suggestions?
    Thanks so much!

    You talk a lot about excess estrogen.. mine is very low, as is my progestrone, since stopping birth control. I am working wiith a Naturopath, but do you have videos/info for low levels of these hormones?

    • @caitlin6935
      @caitlin6935 6 років тому

      My Naturopath is also confused, I have low levels of both as well. Though compared to each other my estrogen is higher. But both estrogen and progestrone are super low to what they should be. No one can figure it out =( Was coined "ovarian insufficiency"

    Hi Dr. Stacey,
    Not sure if you’ll respond to this comment cuz it’s an older video. But I learned so much! Thank you for sharing your wealth of knowledge. As you were discussing avoiding the 3 P’s as a means of balancing estrogen/progesterone, I couldn’t help but wonder if tofu should at all be avoided? I am not a meat eater and therefore eat a lot of tofu but have heard it contains estrogens.

      Thank you for the lovely words! ❤ Really appreciate it. Tofu is okay but consume in moderation. If you have more questions, please send me a DM on my Instagram @naturopathicbeauty

    Thank you so much for all of this information. I developed adult acne for the first time in my life last year. I'm 39 and was diagnosed hypothyroid last year. I'm not sure if it was a coincidence or if it's related as it happened all around the same time.

    great video, thank you! im from toronto as well and completely appreciate the beauty and serenity of Muskoka!
    This is the first video I watched of yours but Im going to check out your other ones and also your IG- i was on birth control and had really bad acne...it resulted in me going on accutane. I had clear skin for 3 years and recently came back. I dont want to take any medication - im doing this the natural way. ive tried so many things the last 6 months and not much has helped. its absolutely so discouraging. i wont give up - i need to clear this and get to the root cause !
    by cutting out sugar do you mean all sugars as in fruits as well or do you mean artificial?

    You have summed up almost everything that is relevant to hormonal acne. Kudos to you! I have tried zinc in the past and had a similar experience. I tried progesterone cream but it made me lose sleep. So I could not continue it. Also spearmint tea and licorice messe up the cycles if taken every day. We can't use these regularly to cure hormonal imbalance. I am taking dairy free and low GI vegan diet. I am going to try saw palmetto soon, my acne is the worst before ovulation and immediately before periods. I can't go for any blood work now. Is it fine for me to try saw palmetto without a blood test?

    I have put myself on accutane. Almost 2 months, doctor tests my hormones they seemed fine therefore gave me accutane. Can I work with your programme now? Or maybe wait until I finish my course of accutane?

    How come my doctors are never as pretty as you? So unfair.
    On a more serious note (not that I wasn't bring serious) but I'm a guy and I never got perpetual breakouts until around the age of 35 (I'm 38 now). I get it in all of the hormonal areas. I also get them on the very tippy top of my cheak bone, right where the under eye skin meets the regular facial skin. It's not on the under eye skin, but just below it. It takes sometimes 6 weeks to heal. It's so embarrassing. It makes me feel incredibly self conscious.
    Is it possible for men to have hormonal acne?
    I just started oil cleansing with jojoba oil, sweet almond oil, hemp oil, Rose hip seed oil and castor oil. It's too early to tell if it's working, plus, they say the OCM can initially cause breakouts from all the grime being brought to the surface. Within a couple weeks I'll know if it's working.
    Secondly, I'm a healthy person. I juice everyday, regularly cleanse the colon, liver and kidneys...so...it's a mystery as to why I'm breaking out. Which is why I'm thinking it's hormonal.
    Lastly, I just started the whole 30 diet. I'm 4 days into it. If it clears up my acne I will NOT be going back to my previous lifestyle. Even though I was healthy even before starting the whole 30...I consumed A LOT of honey in my teas. I also ate a lot of barley, peanut products and wheat products. Soooooo...I'm hoping all of the above helps.
    If anyone can answer the male hormonal theory, I'd greatly appreciate it.

    Hi there, I recently developed pimples in august..I started with 1 then 2 and know my cheeks have scars..Ive been so stressed and depressed over feeling disgusted by my skin.Recently my doctor did some blood work and my bad cholesterol is a bit high..Yet I eat pretty healthy,recently I cut off all junk food started eating salads and drinking nothing but water..I started taking multi vitamins,fish oil,vitex, and zinc...Know Ive noticed that I get painful deep pimples on my neck and cheeks before and during my period which I will never get only on my chin yet there weren't that painful and will go away quick.I started drinking probiotic pill due to an infection I had in my stomach a couple months ago and ever since Ive noticed Ive had stomach issues such as bloating,constipation and very painful cramps in my stomach...I started the probiotics and fiber, it has helped regulated me as far as not being constipated anymore..Know that you mentioned that zinc can also make acne worst for some Im wondering if that is my case..Im drinking the multi vitamins which already have magnesium and zinc should that be enough?How many milgs of magnesium should we be consuming and how many milgs of zinc?I drink ACV with lemon first thing in the morning and cut all sugars out of my diet..I will cut off zinc and see if my skin gets better and continue drinking my multi vitamins.Im also drinking milk thistle at night for my liver...If you can please give me feed back I will so much appreciate it..Sorry for this long paragraph Im just desperate...Thank you so much
