God bless you. I’ve owned 2 . So loyal , they are smart gentle breed. I will never get another breed. I love my rottie, and yes they have a bad stigma here in USA. It’s how there raised point blank. Again that’s awesome you adopted a Rottweiler.
They don’t have that bad reputation come on haha I think all big dogs are some how scary for some ppl .. and rotts are brave scary and big so they are scary .. cheers lady
There are no bad dogs, only bad owners My rottie Bronson was the biggest teddy bear my kids ever had, he would always be by them, follow them everywhere, sleep by their bedroom doors... He could care less about me, but he knew his job was watching over the kids, and he did it flawlessly Miss you Bronson
I had a Rott for 11 years Tyson he was a loving and loyal friend, by far the strongest dog I have personally ever seen 110 pounds of muscle, he loved his family/ pack and would die to protect us . Rottweilers are amazing dogs. If you choose one training and time with them is a must , be responsible, great dogs .
Ive watched a Rottweiler from a flat opposite. A girl about 3 years old she lived with the dog, it was a family dog. The young girl ran out towards the Rd, I was on 5th floor shouting she's running to road. The dog ran after her and got her back in the front garden. Using her body (the dog) to push the little girl in the right direction. It was amazing the dog knew what she was doing, looking after her pack. Incredible Dog.
Best family dog I’ve ever owned. I’m on my 7th Rottweiler right now and I can’t imagine my life without one. Majestic, strong, gentle, and very intelligent. I love them.
Over the course of about 28 years. Yes they all have lived full lives. Unfortunately there lifespan is to short. The one I have now is 11. Every day I get with him I’m thankful for. I had one she only made it to 5 unfortunately. But it’s been an average of 8 years between all of them.
Sir I just bought a male rott 2 month old ... my daughter's are 1 and 2 years old ... any advice ? Do the turn on owners ? Or not recognize their owners sometimes...
Fun fact: until the mid 90s the Rottweiler was recommended as one of the top 10 family dogs in Germany due to their sweet and loving character. However because of irresponsible owners/breeders and negative media coverage the Rottweiler is nowadays officially labeled as “dangerous” in many states. What a shame.
So true. I live in Germany, and have a Rottweiler, the reactions of people when hearing that I have a Rottweiler is incredible annoying. Thanks to the media, people truly believe I own a hell hound.
I'm a rottie owner and I think this was a great representation of the breed! One thing you missed is they dont know what personal space means! Lol if you get a rottweiler, prepare for them to always be near you, follow you, or need to be touching you 😂 love my rottie! I will always have a rottie in the family
Total agree, rigged footage (no disrespect to elder lady) you cant exercise ya self let alone Rotti a full grown Dog.. my dog under pressure (calm) would you carry you half a mile (and think was fun).. because of squirrel :)
My Rottweiler makes that fierce scary look when he wants his belly rubbed. He’s the biggest softy he’s only 11 months old and over 100 pounds, but the other day at the dog park a tiny 5 lb dog that was older barked at him and he ran away 😂
Funny story. I was always told that Rotties are dangerous. One day I was with my sports team training in a park and someone brought his Rottie. I was sitting down at a bench taking a break and the dog suddenly charged me...and jumped up on my lap, somehow rolled over onto his back and his master laughed and said "he wants belly rubs". That was a great way to destroy a stereotype...and every Rottie I have met since has been nothing but friendly.
I've met some beauties! One was nearly the size of a Shetland pony! Owned by a lady living alone, he slept downstairs, near the front door, always guarding her at night. He was a big soft thing though, very affectionate with me even though I'd never met him before. A wonderful breed, so long as their owners care for them responsibly 🐕❤️
@johndoe4907 I had a Pitbull charge at me unleashed as I was taking a walk and I kept walking, never ran or got scared, and the Pitbull just rubbed against me and wanted to be petted. That made me Lose my fear of Pitbulls and dogs. This was just 10 years ago or so. 🐕❤️👍
Have had a female Rottie for the past 5 years. Daisy is without a doubt the best dog I’ve ever owned. She is intelligent, protective, powerful yet gentle with the kids and very funny! She loves to play chase and tug of war.
@@dianestone2029 My last Rottie, Raven, was also definitely her own personality. We had a crabapple tree in our backyard. There was a two inches thick branch on it about 5 feet off the ground. Raven, on her own, decided that was "her branch" . She would jump up, grab it, and start shacking it. One day, Raven actually got it. She jumped up, shook a few times, and down comes Raven and the branch. Now, I have a 100lbs Rottie running around the yard with a 6 foot long tree branch in her mouth. I couldn't help but laugh.
Got my husband a Rotty, years ago, he loved her more than he loved me, I swear. But, to be honest she was a beauty. Husband died 2016 in Feb, Chyna ( Rotty) died in August same year. I am convinced she pined away. Vet said it was her heart, the night before she was fine. Woke in morning she had died in her sleep. Apparently she had an undiagnosed heart problem. Lovely dog, so easy to train, she was only 6 when she died x She was convinced she was a lap dog , I have 5 kids ( now adults) she would herd my kids and their friends into a group in the garden. If they were on trampoline or pool, she had to join in I did used to tell the friends parents, I'd put her away whilst their children were here playing, they all laughed and said the cat was more ferocious x
The biggest issue I have seen with a properly brought up rottie is they still think they are a lap dog. A friend of mine had an unusually big rottie at about 80kg and as soon as you sat down it wanted to sit in your lap.
Yep big lap dogs, really big lap dogs, they want belly rubs and when they stretch out on your lap you kinda don't have much choice but to give them belly rubs
Iv owned 5 Rottweilers . 4 rescued . Absolutely love my dogs a magical breed . You have to be very firm but love them as a family member ... then they are the best breed.. so lovable , funny and beautiful. They are so so different from What the media make u think X 🌟
I loved my rotty Cleo. She was intelligent, adorable, aloof sometimes, playful and loving. She was very gentle with our kids and she defended me on several occasions. I miss her immensely. RIP Cleo💜💜
@@OptimumServices416 Lost my boy Zak 13th Dec, still devastated, he got snapped at by tiny dogs all the time and never even growled back, miss you Boy!
I know exactly how you feel. . .my Rottie was named Onyx. . .we had her for 11 yrs, since the age of 4 mos old. . .she had a brain tumor I was told due to her seizures. . .she died 2016 . . Me & my kids loved her with all our hearts. I love the breed : smart, strong , intelligent & most loveable! She was sooo greedy tho ! Lol. . .very protective & destructive ! Lol I miss my Baby sooo much ! I'm ready for another one. . .I will own no other type of dog !RIP Onyx 🙏❤️❤️❤️
Many, many years ago, I owned two Rottweilers (Harvey and Bo) While I was away on work and they where 1 day away from me returning to take them home, i was informed that Boleyn had been found in the morning dead in the kennel by the kennel hand (10+ years old). Harvey definitely grieved hard for Bo, but we looked after him until 6 months later he was diagnosed with cancer and died soon after (which I think was a result of his loss of Bo and grief). Anyway, at the time that I got both of them as puppies (1 year apart Bo being the oldest and mother figure to Harvey) these breeds where not so popular where I lived. (I always wanted to raise my Rotties with a great, friendly temperament much like , Labs, Retrievers (replacing their size and dominant look, with friendly acceptance to both family, friends and strangers) which I was successful doing. A few years after getting two dogs, I noticed that the breed was becoming popular in neighbouring towns and cities, but unfortunately, with the 'wrong type of owners' training them to be aggressive and threatening and purely buying the breed either for the wrong reasons ie "street status" or 'extending their own egos' for were their egos "fell short'. You will see this cycle happening with other breeds The Rottweiler breed (especially within the 'wrong hands' has now diminished - thankfully!.) and now "unfortunately", you will see other breeds become fashionable for the wrong reasons, ie; Pit Bulls (illegal in many countries due to the BAD OWNERS who get them for the wrong reasons) Staffordshire Bull Terriers (Always seen in rescue centres (owners grown tired or dog no longer a 'fighter'!. Dobermans etc. And now we have 'a new kid on the block" - the Cane Corso. I am sure their are many great owners of these dog breeds out there, but it is your responsibility to ensure that your dogs temperament is that of a 'friendly family and to the public pet and not something that was purchased to be an extension of your home, car or ego. Train them well , Protect them from being taken away and sent to kill centres. Purchase your breeds for the right reason not the wrong one!.
I was hanging around small/medium sized dogs since I was a child and I was always a bit affraid of big dogs. Today I had a chance to walk a rottweiler for the first time and man he was such a pure and loving soul I instantly lost my fear and fell in love with him. I never felt so much love from a dog before, it felt like he would do anything for you. I already miss him... maybe one day I will have my own rottweiler
I had a rottie when I was younger and he was an amazing dog.....loving, protective and super freaking smart....I really like that she doesn't dock the tails....
I have a German line Rottie. He is the most laid-back Rottie I've owned, excellent and notable temperament even though I love the breed. Both of his parents were laid-back and friendly dogs, and I was very glad to be able to meet them.
I know. When I was blessed with my last Rottie, Raven, I had went to a major Dog show in my city. I was searching for reputable breeders. I found a couple sitting at their stall with their dogs on tethers. I found it amazing as to how calm the dogs were. Needless to say, I needed to speak with these people. I eventually recieved a puppy from them. Overall, the best dog I've ever had. As record, Raven played with children regularly, also crippled a home invader. That's a good girl.
My friend has a rottie for a dog, he's a big push over and licks every person who touches him. I'm more afraid of the owner than the dog. She just gives out 2 words and that dog won't even hesitate to bite anyone. and that dog is TRULY a GUARD DOG, he would follow his owner even to the delivery room, I had to hold him while his owner gives birth.
We’ve had rotties my whole life. They are absolute angels. We adore our babies. We have been lucky enough to have dogs that are so gentle, kind, and good. Our family has had four and we have been so lucky. We ensured that we were so gentle with them, and raised them to be kind. We have never had any behavioral issues. We have never had aggression issues. We have never had any issues. My parents have a 100 lb rottie right now and he is a total sugar pie. He has never bit, growled at, or hurt a soul. He loves trying to befriend cats, who sass him and he lays down and whimpers at them.
They are an instinctive guard dog and a wonderful family pet. They are loving, loyal and have a great sense of humor. I had two of them in my life for a total of 18 years and loved every minute of it!
@@hardcandy7112 true my friend had a rotti n it knew me well so everytime i saw him he got exited n they jump a little and do that bumping thing if u not ready for it they will knock u down n its not thier foult thier strength is crazy strong
My rottweiler is retired now but was used for personal protection as we both worked security..weve had some great times and hes responsible for saving my life. Never had a bond with a dog like i do dexter. Hes everything. Big powerful yet gentle and loving and knows the difference between work life and home life.
I had a beautiful german rottie long ago. He was the goodest boy ever. Over 120lbs and super smart and obediant. Gentle almost all the time unless he needed to not be. He also had an extreme fear of tiny dogs like yorkies and chihuahuas for some reason. 😆
R M bullshit. You can use all the excuses you want: “other dogs might bite their tails”, “they might get caught on things”, etc. I’m sure you also subscribe to the fact that cutting their ears is also okay because of “infection risks”. Why are you even talking to people? You present no facts or arguments. You are just being rude and calling people names. Go away troll, nobody asked for your opinion.
I thought the same thing until my rottie got attacked at the dog park 3 different times in his life by 3 different pit bulls. They are such aggressive and mean dogs. I leave the dog park now when I see one walk in. Haven’t come across one that doesn’t show aggression towards other animals. He hasn’t been attacked or snapped at by ANY other dog besides pit bulls.
@@ooforange1st881 it was 3 different pit bulls with 3 different owners. It’d be one thing if it was one dog out of many but I have never come across one nice pit bull that is good with other animals. I’m sure they exist or people would never own pit bulls, but my dog hasn’t been attacked by any other breed than a pit bull. You would think that if someone has an aggressive dog they wouldn’t take them to the dog park but sadly that is not the case.
I MISS MY ROTTY MAX HE WAS ONE LOVING CAREING DOG HE HELPED ME THROUGH THE RECOCERY FROM CANCER SURGERY. HE ALSO LOVED KIDS SO MUCH A 2 YEAR OLD CHILD CAN DO ANYTHING THAT THEY WANTED TO DO TO HIM AND HE WILL JUST LAY THERE, AND THEN LOOKUP AT THEM WITH A SMILE SAYING KEEP GOING. HE WAS AMAZING WITH THE KIDS
Ive had 3 of these dogs over 35 years . They were the most wonderful family pets . They, all 3 , loved all of us .Not one bit of trouble did they ever cause ,except Gus bit an escaping burglar on the bum . And yes there was a large amount of blood . Silly man . I even had warning notices . Posted.Funny thing , all 3 of them did the Rottie growling talk . They all seem to do that . Its not agression though . They just liked talking . Ha ha ha .
Our blockhead 118Lbs German female would often slowly stalk down our long hallway. Snarling and showing her teeth the whole way. We knew it was her way of saying she missed us when gone. But visitors always thought they were about to die! She was a big teddy bear in reality. Just a strange thing Rotties are known for.
I have a female Rott that's about 5 years now. She's recently been diagnosed with lymphoma. She's absolutely been the best dog I've ever owned. Though high energy (which means she can bounce off of kids) she's extremely gentle. Soft mouthed. And as described in this episode she wants to be INSIDE of your skin. She'll sit on you, lean on you, stuff her head into you. She's at my side always. If I'm sleeping, sitting, pooping... she's as close to me as she can manage to be. Always.
Too many people buy them for their guarding abilities first and do not realise what a wonderful loving multi-talented bright dog they are - they are not a one trick pony as you have demonstrated - thank you. BTW over the years I have had 5 beautiful Rotties!
My first Rottie was the most loyal and loving friend a person can have. Once he passed away things just got so depressing. Still think about him everyday.
The Rotweiler is a fantastic dog that is misunderstood by the media. Just like the real American pit bull terrier, not the American bullys or the English staffies that are called pitties by the large crowd. The real american pitt bull terrier is, just like the rotweiler, a fantastic dog breed. The American stafford is also a misunderstood dog breed and, of course, the dobberman not to be forgotten. When would animal watch make an episode about the real American pit bull terrier, so that the people who detest him can see what a fantastic dogs they are.
So happy to see Animal Watch finally showcasing the world's best breed. I couldn't stop smiling watching this. Thanks so much and much love to you guys from Australia. ❤😊
My daughter has two Rottweilers. They are definitely one of my favorite breeds of dogs now . They are lovable and protective. They are one of the greatest breeds of dogs.
Had a Rott for twelve years and she was super intimidating 110 lbs, she never bit anyone she just got between family and strangers, super strong could climb 5 ft block wall great dog.
My last Rottie, Raven was the Biggest baby. But please God, please don't break into my house. I have seen the aftermath. I had to repaint the entire kitchen including the ceiling. Turns out Rottie's are stubborn. Raven went up against a human male wielding a bat. He left in an ambulance. Raven limped for about a week. Yes, I did rush her to the Vet.
It's such a shame that Rottweiler often have a bad reputation. I mean, they're awesome dogs as this video shows. I think the biggest issue is that some people just think cool dog, but they don't know what they're getting into and how to treat them. I think the advice given by the lady in the end was really good.
The biggest problem with owners is their ignorance of what the breed needs. They must be socialised A LOT and training will be ongoing for the life of a balanced Rottweiler. People get them, keep them outside and wonder why they turn into monsters.
There are two rules to owning a Rottie. One is training that will be for their entire life. They are very intelligent but also VERY dominant. If you are seen as not a good leader in their eyes, they will quite literally take over. Second is socialisation. This is an absolute must. We must remember they do have that protection instinct in them, even without any guarding training. As a responsible owner you must introduce your dog to everything and everyone so they can understand what is OK and what is expected of them. Every single Rottie I've ever seen that was classed as aggressive is not. Sometimes they are scared, but most of the time they just don't understand what is OK. Both problems mean the Rottie explodes into jumping around and barking and often fake lunges. Hence the bad rep. Rotties are very clever, but without guidance they can become serious issues.
@@dylvasey Bang on. It's a dog that needs to know who the boss is. If trained and socialised correctly it's probably the most intelligent and loyal breed of dog. The police would use them but for the bad rep.I had one that weighed about 7 stone. He was like a small pony. Had no aggression unless it was provoked. As a companion, there isn't a breed to beat rotties.
I've lived with 2 of this breed over the past 15 years. I will get another when the day comes. Best dogs I ever had. Although I have loved my three other childhood breeds, as well, but Rotties have been by far the best.
@@curtisfranzen986 Maybe not a Jetta but any Mercedes Benz is much better quality than anything Americans for the most part make. Mercedes Benz, Audi, bmw, all those companies make solid quality products.
@@ramon2008 While I understand your counter point, I should point out that your Mercadies is a much smoother ride, but it's not hauling your 30ft boat. That said, Rotties are wonderful dogs. Also, there are several very successful blood lines in the U.S. . I was fortunate to have Raven. She was from championship bloodlines. Best dog I've ever had. I didn't show her, she had other jobs to do. Be a home and family protecter. Be a family member. Be a companion. Best dog ever! I miss Raven to this day.
I've had a few rottweilers and I can honestly say that they are deeply interested in their family they almost read your emotions as a breed they make the best friends in the world
Really enjoyed the programme, illustrating the versatility of the Rottweiler. My dog is an assistance ( service ) dog, performing medical detection and other tasks. She also works IGP. Really, her most important role is best friend. Every Rottweiler is under the impression they were born to be lapdogs. I would never have any other breed
grew up with a Rottweiler... he was an amazing animal... the biggest teddy bear at home but protective with strangers - they had to gain his trust otherwise he would not leave my side... I miss him very much...
I miss my Rottie Rex, he was so loyal, sweet, goofy and calm, never really barked much unless i got home which he would get excited and started jumping and barking and wagging his whole body XD. He was always following me around everywhere i go, he listened to me greatly, as soon as i told em to do something he would listen, was smart too and figured things out pretty quickly. Everyone who visited my house was scared of him as a Rottie, even tho he never showed any aggression ever and the one thing he would do is lick you to death, tho after meeting him for the first time they would be excited to meet em again the next. I would always have those late night times sitting outside on the ground or something and with him laying beside me or sitting next to me starring off into the distance and night sky, it was so beautiful and peaceful. He passed away and i miss em still, he lived a full life, never got sick or died of anything but old age.
Wow, I had no idea just how versatile and misunderstood Rottweilers are! But like all dogs, they must.be.respected! Good job putting this video together. :)
Excellent video! We are currently on our 5th Rottweiler, over the decades. Unfortunately, our first one (male named Coco) tragically died from stomach torsion, and the subsequent ones (all females, named Koukla, Sheva, and Lulu) died from either lymphoma or osteosarcoma. Our last one, Lulu, lived the longest, which is only 8 years old (the one that passed from osteosarcoma just a few weeks ago). Rotties are truly wonderful, dedicated to family, companion dogs that live to be a daily part of your life. Your relationship with them is very close and loving. We cannot imagine life without one. We just picked up a 7 week old Rottie puppy we named Ophelia, and we are already head over heels in love with the little lady! We are hoping she can live a full life, despite all our previous Rotties getting cancer.
@@peeron6829 Thank you! We are hoping Ophelia lives longer than our previous Rotties. Our vet told us that the latest info and studies show that female Rottweilers shouldn't be spayed ('fixed') before their 'first heat' session. They are more prone to getting cancers if you spay them early on. The best time would be a few months after their 'first heat' session. Supposedly, this significantly reduces their chances of getting cancer.
I have owned 4 Rotties, all different personalities and backgrounds. But the main thread is they were all incredibly smart and incredibly loyal. They so desperately want to please and need firm, kind leadership. If you are a responsible owner they can be the best dog you will ever own. I also really appreciate the time put in to explain their history and unique traits. They can literally do any job you ask them to if properly trained. They are truly exceptional.
The greatest breed! I‘ve had a Rottie for 12 1/2 years, and she had all of these qualities. She would let my nieces and nephews climb on top of her (with me being next to them, of course, though I knew she would have never done anything to them. but you never know what children may be doing). My mom loved taking care of her and go out for walks late, as she said she always felt safe with her by her side. She was loyal, obedient, loving, and stunningly beautiful. Even on her last day she let us know that she just did not want to walk anymore, which made the terrible decision to put her to sleep feel like the right decision. I did not get another Rottie after her as I live in the city center now, and they are massive dogs after all. But I am still a big Rottie fan.
Very sorry for your loss There truly is Nothing like this breed.. we are blessed by their love and friendship.. the protection comes with that. Truly Man's Best Friend
@@BodhiZaW So true! My Gina would probably kiss and befriend any unwanted intruder instead of protecting our home. She is just a big teddy bear with the looks of a killing-machine xD
Our Rottie girl wasn't from the best breeders sadly. She developed hip dysplasia at 18 months and had arthritis by 3. We loved her to bits and even though she passed away 4 years ago we still talk to her at her place of rest every day. We take our other dogs to her stream each day to chat to her. Such a sweet dog, really miss her a lot.
The head of the rottweiler is getting more and more extreme, they will be another brachy breed before we know it :( edit for clarification: not talking about the ones in the video, these look lovely :)
Thoran EH all the dogs that took part in this show are breed standard. No extremes. Correct proportions muzzle , heads and body ratios. We do not have the extreme head problem in the UK that is problematic in other countries .
MK Mantrailers Docherty I agree some really good representations of the breed in this video Im pleased. Rottweilers should have muscle and bone mass. And I dont see any muzzles that are too short in the video they look the right proportion.
My grandparents had a rottweiler. He was the biggest sook. And the most friendliest dog. All he wanted was someone to throw a stick for him. My grandad once show him a mouse in a bucket and he ran yelping and hid for a few hours. I miss that dog so much.
My rottie is one of the sweetest most mellow dogs I've even known. A complete troublemaker if she doesn't get her exercise, but an absolute doll that just wants love.
Best dog, I love the Rottweilers. My girl was the sweetest and greatest kid and kitten sitter ever, I miss her. Oh, and fabulous guard dog and protector. Their calm and only aggressive when there is a true threat.
I grew up with Rottweilers. They are the best and probably the goofiest dog breed I've owned. They're insanely loyal and protective and goofy dogs. I miss having one so bad but I have a German Shepherd now. Love both the same.
Fell asleep on a couch at a party once, woke up to a huge beast of a dog snuggling next to me the next morning. It was a Rottweiler saint-bernard mix. The biggest beast I have laid eyes on. At the time i was not used to dogs. Nearly pissed my pants, but then the dog started to lick my face. Instant best buds
I grew up with a German Shepherd as a kid and I've always wanted to get my own dog, a Rottweiler is a dog I'd love to get one day. I dislike when people just leave them chained up outside though, if they're going to protect someone they deserve to be a loved family pet.
I’ve had 6 Rottweiler’s, all AKC Certified and Registered! Smartest and most beautiful Canine in the World! Obedient, discipline, loyal, and amazing dog!
I worked midnights on a Christmas holiday when I found a Rottweiler in my works dog pen. It was below zero so I took him home for the night. My Poodle was not very happy at first but they became good friend in short time. The Rottweiler behaved very well and obeyed commands like he was at home. The owner came to pick him up the next day. He was a very good dog.
Grew up in a bad neighborhood and use to get jumped a lot when I was 10-13 yrs old. My mom got me a Rottweiler named bear and he never left my side until I graduated highschool. I learned how to fight, then when he got big I didn't have to anymore. Miss him.
I love that you have chosen to document this breed and showcase them. I’ve shared my life with several and they are an amazing high energy intelligent breed. I can personally attest to their versatility and natural guard instincts tempered with high affection and family loyalty and love. They do require an owner who is ready to spend time actively training and exercising them.
Thank you for such an enlightening episode. I really have to look at the Rottweiler in a whole new light. First, I respect the UK for not allowing tail docking. I live in the US, and I have questioned the importance of that doing that, if the dog is not an actual working dog. I honestly don't know if it should even be done in that case, but that is the only reason I could see its importance, so the dog would not be harmed while performing its duties. I would hope the US would follow suit. The dogs showcased were amazing! I got choked up several times. These dogs really are heros. The tracking of lost people, the protection of their beloved family, their companionship... What a beautiful, intelligent and powerful breed. But the breeder has seemed to really put her life into breeding healthy, wonderful dogs. When a breeder cares about their health and not passing on degenerative traits, that is caring. I hate to see dogs suffer because breeders just want to pump out a factory of cute puppies to sell for lots of money. It is heartbreaking. Another fabulous episode Animal Watch! Thank you! ~❣️
That's so lovely to read. Its personal goal of mine since being lucky enough to have my 1st rottweiler 14 years ago for exactly the reaction you have just given. Thank you so much for you intelligent honest comment xxxx
From my understanding, the US (where I live also) still docks the tail for the same reason they dock the tails and clip the ears Boxers and Dobermans. It is strictly cosmetic. I prefer to see these breeds in their natural state.
Even a new breeder can garner a lot of attraction because they know what they are doing. In 1995, the breeder we got our Rotti from was only in to breeding for about2-3 years. When we met her it was apparent she knew a lot about the breed. Turns out the Rotti we got from her had lineage to a champion breed in Rottweil Germany. We named her Kupkake and she adored everyone. Likewise, everyone who met her too. The "downside" to having a Rotti is they love to step on your toes when you're at the counter making anything food related, they numb your legs because they want to lay on you when you're watching TV, and they hog up the bed because they want to sleep next to you. LOL
This lady is stunningly beautiful. I didnt realize Rotts were so versatile. Its amazing how a trained dog can get one whiff of a person and then sniff out there trail in appropriate conditions. The applications of that skill are so brilliant and potentially life saving. I cleared some brush from the property of a family friend once and they had two Rottweilers. Soon after I met the friend at his backyard gate and he let me in I sat down on a bench in his backyard. We were speaking while he watered his plants. During this time I noticed that I was the subject of the big Rottweilers attention. The other Rottweiler didn't pay me much mind after an initial introduction and quick head scratch. This big dog would periodically walk up to me and get REALLY close. I didn't know that this dog wasn't seeking scratches or fanny pats. He seemed to resent my attempts at friendship. This felt different and it was a little awkward for me. My friend would then yell at his dog very loudly and very aggressively NO', or 'HEY' and the dog would back off a bit. Then this big Rott would get in my space again and get yelled at again.... It was stressful for me. I wasn't sure what was going on. All I knew at the time was that this big dog's behavior was strange to me and that he was being yelled at aggressively. I am familiar with Retrievers, Pit Bulls and to a lesser extent German Shepherds. I was completely unfamiliar with the behavior of this big, strong, black, imposing dog. He wanted to be up in my face, but he didn't want affection. Years later after more research and life experience I realized that big male Rottweiler was deliberately trying to intimidate me, or dominate me or something to that effect. He was displaying territorial aggression to me, his owner recognized it and reprimanded him for it. The entire situation made complete sense... It was the first and only time I have ever been 'intimidated' by a dog. It was my first experience with displays of territorial dominance and guardianship. I was too ignorant to realize what was happening so I never connected fear with the encounter. However it was quite awkward and uncomfortable. Had I known that this big dog was considering whether or not I needed a good clobbering I would probably think very negatively about this breed. Luckily though my memory of the encounter is one of a cool, big, confident, courageous, intense dog that doesn't believe in the notion of 'personal space.' I am also left with the sense that that particular specimen of the breed was stubborn and took the control and guardianship of his dominion seriously if not a little too far. In one way I respect the dog for his powerful instincts and on the other hand I find it hard to condone a breed that displays aggression to and dominance over human beings. A very potentially dangerous breed if taught to hate.
It's the most beautiful breed one can have...beautiful in heart and otherwise...the closest soul companion and the best guardian and the biggest kid and clown about the house..I have three and I can't imagine my life without them!
I had a Rottie, wonderful friend, still miss him today. Natural guard, and very loving. He had the cruciate rupture which is prone in this breed, needed 2 operations to fix the problem.
I house/dog sit for friends who own a Rottweiler. I am madly in love with her! She eats, plays and sleeps, with me. I feel so safe and protected when I’m with her! I absolutely adore her; she’s a wonderful, magnificent girl and I am blessed that she accepts me as part of her pack!💝
I grew up with this breed when they were rare. They are my favorite. They are amazing. Thank you for doing this!!! Love your videos and you are just wonderful. God bless you always. ❤️ Rotties rule!!! Love. Love love them.
I’m a bit scared of Rottweilers because of bad experiences with them and my puppy got attacked by one. This video made me like them a little bit more :) thank you
When you next see one, please just go over and say hi to the owner and ask if you can stroke his dog. We owners have an influx of people wanting to stroke our Rottweilers when they are a fluff ball puppy, but once they are three months old people hardly ever come over. It would help the dog as much as it would help you.
I would love one too!!! However I know myself too well. I don’t even have the time and energy for a cat. Thinking of looking for a sexy man who also happens to own a well trained, well cared for and loved Rottweiler. Kill two birds with one stone.
Hands down favorite breed. I've had 4 Rotties and each one has been like a best friend And I just love how affectionate Rotties really are. If you've never owned one, you just don't expect your new war hound to want to kiss you more than your wife. But they will. Every Rottie that I've had but one, thought they were lap dog, and the one was part mastiff and she used to like taking naps with me on the couch. If you have a yard and kids and want to keep them safe, buy a Rottweiler. They'll kiss your kids more than you do and they'll chase trouble away with a look. All affection aside, you don't want to get on the wrong side of a Rottweiler, that's like begging to go the ICU or the morgue
Love this episode so much! This shows such a great introduction about the Rottweilers and this breed should not be misinterpreted as dangerous dogs. Thank You Animal Watch 😍 ❤
In the wrong hands, they really can be. Such as the life of pitbull, cane Corso, boerbel, Doberman, press canerio, and etc. As a dog guard breed rotties are at that top, but you need a trainer that knows what they are doing. I LOVE rotties, I used to have one as a kid. I had a pitbull and a rottweiler, both can be incredibly wonderful dog breeds in the right hands. These dogs get a bad rap, because of idiot owners.
Yes, definitely a misunderstood breed! I remember one time working at a shelter and we had 6(!) rotties coming in at the same time. All were really sweet dogs. It was really amusing when our all-women dog-walking crew took them out for a walk in the neighbourhood. There was a construction site near our shelter, and when we walked past the site, none of the burly construction guys dared to be near us! 😂😂😂
I know, my 5' tall wife, Kathie could take our Rottie Raven for a walk and people would cross the street. Well, except for the kids. They'd run up and say hi to Raven. Yes, the neighborhood kids all knew Raven.
Hi I have adopted a rottweiler puppy on last September and now her she is 8 months. She is a female she is my best friend I ways share my feeling with her I will say rottweiler is the best as family dog and as a guard dog love from Pakistan 🇵🇰
Word of advice from someone who’s owned large breeds get collegen supplements it can prevent hip dysplasia and other joint issues in the future because they grow at a rapid pace
Amazing stuff with amazing dogs and people. Those animals are more loyal and lovable then most of the human beings and I am not talking only about of the Rottweiler but for all kind of breeds.
I have a rottie, and he is amazing. He loves to play and has his own version of keep away. He grabs something that he *knows* he's not supposed to grab, runs down the hall, turns around and stared at you, all while making sure that you see what he has. Then, once you get close enough, he'll run right past you to the other end of the hall and repeat the whole process! But when he's just chilling, he's your best friend, 'cause he'll just lay right on top of you with his ball and either chew on it or fall asleep with it.
Walking to get mail. Another lady couldn't hold on to her rottweiler and it came running towards me. I thought I was sure gonna die but this dog jumped on me and gave me kisses. Biggest goofball and super sweet dog
They are magnificent animals! I have owned and taken care of many types of dogs. But I had never been around these dogs. Last month I took in one to board for a 3 months. He has been here for a month now. He is a 3 year old 100 lb beautiful boy. I am amazed and delighted by him. I have 5 of my own dogs and he gets along well with all of them. I am blown away by his personality. He is very smart. And he is amazingly gentle and loving. I have been having a great time looking after him.
I adopted a blind rottweiler in April and he has been my absolute best friend since then. They have such a bad reputation in the US
God bless you. I’ve owned 2 . So loyal , they are smart gentle breed. I will never get another breed. I love my rottie, and yes they have a bad stigma here in USA. It’s how there raised point blank. Again that’s awesome you adopted a Rottweiler.

I think rottweilers are banned in the UK, though I’m not certain
They don’t have that bad reputation come on haha I think all big dogs are some how scary for some ppl .. and rotts are brave scary and big so they are scary .. cheers lady
Nice to hear, miss my boy. Passed away in may 1st 2020 😭

My rottie Bronson was the biggest teddy bear my kids ever had, he would always be by them, follow them everywhere, sleep by their bedroom doors...
He could care less about me, but he knew his job was watching over the kids, and he did it flawlessly
Miss you Bronson
Dear Bronson, rest in Peace!
Rest in peace Bronson 🙏🏼
This is so sweet!!!!
Respect to you dear Bronson !
I agree and rest in peace...
That's remarkable, just shows how protective they are. A very special dog.
❤❤❤❤
Best family dog I’ve ever owned. I’m on my 7th Rottweiler right now and I can’t imagine my life without one. Majestic, strong, gentle, and very intelligent. I love them.
7???? Did the others pass away? If so sorry to hear
Over the course of about 28 years. Yes they all have lived full lives. Unfortunately there lifespan is to short. The one I have now is 11. Every day I get with him I’m thankful for. I had one she only made it to 5 unfortunately. But it’s been an average of 8 years between all of them.

@@joshcantu6734 no, they are extremely Smart and loving to your kids and family will never bite or turn on you! Raise them like toddlers...❤️
I met a Rottweiler once. He demanded cuddles and belly rubs while stealing my heart .
Same as the apbt in America
So true. I live in Germany, and have a Rottweiler, the reactions of people when hearing that I have a Rottweiler is incredible annoying. Thanks to the media, people truly believe I own a hell hound.
A damn shame, my rot is the most loving obedient and beautiful. Not a danger, just a loyal strong dog.
@@obyerere so true! My girl is now 3 years old, and she's absolutely loyal and loves to be hugged and get her belly rubs.
so sad that is! :(
I'm a rottie owner and I think this was a great representation of the breed! One thing you missed is they dont know what personal space means! Lol if you get a rottweiler, prepare for them to always be near you, follow you, or need to be touching you 😂 love my rottie! I will always have a rottie in the family
Pitbulls and American Bullies are like that, also.
They are so loving.. Agreed ❤️😍

Totally..they follow you everywhere and don't let you go anywhere without them😆

Unbelievably loyal and caring dogs, humans don't deserve such loving characters!
No we don't. Us humans.
Hands down the best dog. The loyalty of a Golden Retriever with the fear factor of a Pit Bull.
Yeah, the meanest looking snuggle bugs, and they know it!
Well a Pit Bull has the loyalty and some fear them for some reason so..might as well just have a pit bull... Which are the sweetest dogs ever.
I've never owned a wieler only pitbulls. But I believe you I bet they make amazing pets. They might look mean. But I bet they are big teddy bears.
Perfectly said lol
No the loyalty of a rottweiler and the fear factor of a rottweiler

Yep I have my rottweilers food in a bowl in the corner of this kitchen and she keeps running into the cabinets

He’s the biggest softy he’s only 11 months old and over 100 pounds, but the other day at the dog park a tiny 5 lb dog that was older barked at him and he ran away 😂
same with my rott and Jack Russell
I totally get that
Rotties are like big puppies their whole life, love them, such a gorgeous breed!
Lol
I've noticed that a lot of dogs around 1 year old are pretty timid.
@@susandumbill8805 I just rescued one and he’s a big softie, they really are such lovely friendly dogs
@johndoe4907
I had a Pitbull charge at me unleashed as I was taking a walk and I kept walking, never ran or got scared, and the Pitbull just rubbed against me and wanted to be petted.
That made me Lose my fear of Pitbulls and dogs. This was just 10 years ago or so.
🐕❤️👍

All about how they’re raised they are very sweet dogs
Have had a female Rottie for the past 5 years. Daisy is without a doubt the best dog I’ve ever owned. She is intelligent, protective, powerful yet gentle with the kids and very funny! She loves to play chase and tug of war.
You're lucky your rotting will play. Mine thinks she's human, won't play ball or tug of war. But will happily hang with the kids and watch TV lol.
What game is tug of war?😂
😍😍😍😍
Got my husband a Rotty, years ago, he loved her more than he loved me, I swear. But, to be honest she was a beauty. Husband died 2016 in Feb, Chyna ( Rotty) died in August same year. I am convinced she pined away. Vet said it was her heart, the night before she was fine. Woke in morning she had died in her sleep. Apparently she had an undiagnosed heart problem. Lovely dog, so easy to train, she was only 6 when she died x
She was convinced she was a lap dog , I have 5 kids ( now adults) she would herd my kids and their friends into a group in the garden. If they were on trampoline or pool, she had to join in
I did used to tell the friends parents, I'd put her away whilst their children were here playing, they all laughed and said the cat was more ferocious x
🌹❤️🐶
The biggest issue I have seen with a properly brought up rottie is they still think they are a lap dog. A friend of mine had an unusually big rottie at about 80kg and as soon as you sat down it wanted to sit in your lap.
Sound like the labradors my parents had - never could stop laughing as they tried to get comfortable!
Yep big lap dogs, really big lap dogs, they want belly rubs and when they stretch out on your lap you kinda don't have much choice but to give them belly rubs
People worry about a Rottweilers bite , they fail to notice how it feels when they get smaked by their tail ,my girls tail is like a baseball bat.
Iv owned 5 Rottweilers .
4 rescued .
Absolutely love my dogs a magical breed . You have to be very firm but love them as a family member ... then they are the best breed.. so lovable , funny and beautiful. They are so so different from What the media make u think X 🌟

You will see this cycle happening with other breeds The Rottweiler breed (especially within the 'wrong hands' has now diminished - thankfully!.) and now "unfortunately", you will see other breeds become fashionable for the wrong reasons, ie;
Pit Bulls (illegal in many countries due to the BAD OWNERS who get them for the wrong reasons) Staffordshire Bull Terriers (Always seen in rescue centres (owners grown tired or dog no longer a 'fighter'!.
They look better with tails!!🥰beautiful!
My rottie is exactly, extremely smart and loving

I had a beautiful german rottie long ago. He was the goodest boy ever. Over 120lbs and super smart and obediant. Gentle almost all the time unless he needed to not be. He also had an extreme fear of tiny dogs like yorkies and chihuahuas for some reason. 😆
Lovely to see Rottweilers with their tails intact.
Thankfully, mutilating your dog to make it ‘aesthetically pleasing ‘ is illegal here in the UK.
Actually I have 3 dogs, and haven’t felt the need to cut any bits off them. They look fine as they are, with their fully working tails.
@R M what's the point of doing it though?
R M bullshit. You can use all the excuses you want: “other dogs might bite their tails”, “they might get caught on things”, etc. I’m sure you also subscribe to the fact that cutting their ears is also okay because of “infection risks”. I have a female Rott that's about 5 years now. She's recently been diagnosed with lymphoma. She's absolutely been the best dog I've ever owned.

Rottweiler is one of the best dogs but not for everyone. Doberman, malinois, rottweiler, German shepherd and after all the others
It's such a shame that Rottweiler often have a bad reputation. I mean, they're awesome dogs as this video shows. I think the biggest issue is that some people just think cool dog, but they don't know what they're getting into and how to treat them. I think the advice given by the lady in the end was really good.
I have two best dogs we have ever had in my opinion.❤️
The biggest problem with owners is their ignorance of what the breed needs. They must be socialised A LOT and training will be ongoing for the life of a balanced Rottweiler. People get them, keep them outside and wonder why they turn into monsters.
@@dylvasey Cruel people like that don't deserve them. I hope somebody keeps them outside, chained, see how they like it
There are two rules to owning a Rottie.
The best dog ever created. Beautiful, brilliant and loyal. I love my Rotti.

Me as well...I miss my Rosie!
Its a shame it seems they are prone to cancer 😔 i hope your Ophelia get a long loving and healthy life :)
Make their food from scratch!!!
I grew up with rotties and they were some of the sweetest and most protective dogs I've met
Very sorry for your loss
There truly is Nothing like this breed.. we are blessed by their love and friendship.. the protection comes with that. Truly Man's Best Friend
I miss my boy. He was my bestfriend. Fearless, loyal, friendly, very kind dog
Damn i didn't know they're like the gladiators of dogs but how come my rottie acts like Scooby-Doo
Most Rotties are just gentle goofy giants. Untill you train them not to be.
Seems you did a pretty good job.
If it came down to it bet he would still protect you and family if had to
@@BodhiZaW So true! My Gina would probably kiss and befriend any unwanted intruder instead of protecting our home. She is just a big teddy bear with the looks of a killing-machine xD
yes mine too😅
Because he/she can. I hope you never see the "other side". What I mean by that is I hope no one ever threatens your family.
I never wanted a Rottie, then my fiancé just came home with one one day. I can confidently say im hooked. Amazing breed.
Sorry for your loss. I lost my rottie a few months ago and miss him terribly too. I talk to him everyday also. Very special breed and bond we shared.
I've had Rotties in my life for 25 plus years. Best breed ever to me, love these dogs.
Great video
@@isaaccat1 Beautiful dogs. Something to be proud of.
Look at show G.Shepards vs working. Show Shepard’s look deformed vs the working lines
@@swansonz3534 thank you. We are all very proud of how our dogs portrayed the breed xxx
My grandparents had a rottweiler. He was the biggest sook. And the most friendliest dog. All he wanted was someone to throw a stick for him.
My grandad once show him a mouse in a bucket and he ran yelping and hid for a few hours.
I miss that dog so much.
I have never seen a face that's so scary and so silly at the same time.
Omg know i just realised ikr!
Your face?
My rottie is one of the sweetest most mellow dogs I've even known. A complete troublemaker if she doesn't get her exercise, but an absolute doll that just wants love.
Rotties are my favorite, my aunt had one who was an 80 pound lap dog that loved everyone.
Best dog, I love the Rottweilers. My girl was the sweetest and greatest kid and kitten sitter ever, I miss her. Oh, and fabulous guard dog and protector. Their calm and only aggressive when there is a true threat.
That's right! I totally agree.
Rottweiler-St. Bernard mix?! Never seen such a mix. ☺️ I would love to wake up with him.
I grew up with a German Shepherd as a kid and I've always wanted to get my own dog, a Rottweiler is a dog I'd love to get one day. I dislike when people just leave them chained up outside though, if they're going to protect someone they deserve to be a loved family pet.
I feel like rottweilers and German Shepards are the apex of dog breeds.
Me too
Many breeds of dogs would take out a Rottweiler or German Shepherd in a fight
Rottweiler and Mechelaar
@@Bballer12ification Yes, but there's a lot more to a dog than his ability to fight other dogs.
Theres a bunch of dogs stronger and smarter than rotties and gsd. Maybe in america there the apex dogs but other than that ion know.

I love how much you love the animals. You can see it all over your face and mannerisms. These dogs are amazing!
Thank you!

Thankyou so much and for writing in such depth.. Makes making these episodes all the more worthwhile 🙏
I had to put mine down (Bear) a few months ago after 13 and a half years. Hardest thing ever. Getting another soon. Best dogs ever!
LOL

Not with a human they don't know besides their owner.

I’m a bit scared of Rottweilers because of bad experiences with them and my puppy got attacked by one. This video made me like them a little bit more :) thank you
Hi good and bad dogs and usually from good or bad owners..
When you next see one, please just go over and say hi to the owner and ask if you can stroke his dog. We owners have an influx of people wanting to stroke our Rottweilers when they are a fluff ball puppy, but once they are three months old people hardly ever come over. It would help the dog as much as it would help you.

Good on you but i would say, research research then research again lol. Extremely Powerful breed and you must know what your getting into, good luck 🐕
I would love one too!!! However I know myself too well. I don’t even have the time and energy for a cat. Thinking of looking for a sexy man who also happens to own a well trained, well cared for and loved Rottweiler. Kill two birds with one stone.
Was anyone else impressed with the older ladies who could keep up with these dogs?
🤣🤣🤣🤣 thanks
Hands down favorite breed. I've had 4 Rotties and each one has been like a best friend
And I just love how affectionate Rotties really are.

That's hilarious! Amazing what 'image' can do!

My favourite breed ever! My girl is 10 months old now, so beautiful and loving.
I Am A Rottweiler man at my 63 year old i have had 7 Rotties I love them they are the best life ever gave me in a dog. Love them.
My family got a Rottie when I was 3. She was the best nanny dog, very sweet, very patient
Amazing how friendly & playful this ferocious looking dog is.
The one thing i miss about my ex girlfriend is her aunts dog which was a rotty. The cutest girl ever. :(
