Last year the Gel-Nimbus 25 was the most soft and cushioning shoes of 2023. Defeating in max comfort and luxury shoes like the Invincible 3, NB 1080 v13 or the Wave Sky 7. But since the Gel-Nimbus 26 is now less soft and a bit less luxurious but gained much more stability, grip etc .... the 1080v13 is now softer them the newest Gel-Nimbus ! This was weird that some brands keep switching from max soft to less soft or vice-versa. I guess the potential champion of softness this year will be between the More v5 and Mizuno Wave Sky 8. The Nimbus 26 is awesome and all ( I'm loving them), but it is now a.bit behind for those who were looking for shoes to run very slowly with ultra soft cushioning ( Gel-Nimbus 25) .
You forgot about the Invinvible series. We are due a new version too and I’d love to see what happens with that show because that’s my favourite max cushion shoe
Fit is the biggest factor for me followed by price. New Balance fits me better than any other brand as I need a wide and high toebox and a lot of midfoot volume for high arches. The 1080v13 was $122 in November in the US so I just picked up a pair. I do like the 1080v12 and those are even cheaper now. My daily trainers is the 880v12 that I bought for about $70 and use the 1080s as recovery shoes. Good comparison on the two models.
There is a significant difference in the way the upper feels. On the New balance it's very close to the top of your foot, like a second skin, as New balance themselves put it. The Asics gives you a bit more room to breathe. Haven't used either long enough to say which I prefer, but there is definitely a difference
There is definitely a difference but to me the main differentiation should come from the midsole and I can’t see a significant difference beyond what I pointed out
I snagged a pair of the N25 on sale so that when my current pair wear out I can keep that long run luxury. Might wait for the N27 and see if they get the softness back.
Hi Aubrey! I just did a trial in the 1080s and was hoping to love them, but the fit on these big toes was not it! I could feel the seam under my bunion area with every step. So unfortunate! I haven't ran in Asics for several years, but I do have a pair of Novablasts en route to me for a trial as well. we'll see how those feel on these feet.
@@AubreyRunning I curerntly run in Hyperion Tempos, Supercomp Elite V3s, and occaisionally i go back to my Ghost 14s. I did try the NovaBlast 4s last night and LOVE them. Def gonna snag a few of those. My New Balance Supercomp Trainers should be dlivered today and those are also a fave.
The SaySky team k is exactly how to get their brand out there. They are amazing quality and I certainly love the designs. Love it. Let me know ow your thoughts when it gets here.
@@AubreyRunning I have loads of SaySky gear already and absolutely love it. It is excellent technical running kit but uber cool for the urban environment too
I already bought Gel Nimbus 26 several weeks ago for 120€ while 1080v13 has a price 190€ in my country and only by the end of the season could get better price If they didn't sold them out, so I had no doughts which pair to buy
I wasn't impressed with 1080v12, but decided to pickup the v13 for $128.00. Giving the 1080 another chance! For the discounted price I figure it's worth trying again.
Im 90 kg and 1080p gave me heel slippage ..test 17 May 2024. Whereas the Nimus 26 does not do that. For lighter weight categories, the 1080p is the right shoe ane will not slip...but it has a smaller heel cup than the nimbus... and yes...Nimbus 26 is better than Nimbus 25 in the overall balance.
@@AubreyRunning Aubrey... I love you man 🤣🤣🤣 I guess I need to muscle up my 90 kgs a little more to balance my weight on that shoe... undoubtedly I will give it a second try now!
Love it! Luckily I only use my Nimbus 25 for 1 workout a week, so it will last a good while before I have to seek out a substitute 😊 Would you say that the new Nimbus 26 is leaning more towards the same category as Novablast by now? 😊
@@AubreyRunning Alright! Then ASICS got to get it together and send you a pair I'd say! ☺ Have a great day Aubrey! Thanks for the well made content as always 👍👍
my right foot is 26.6 cm to the longest toe(2nd toe) and left is 27 cm with average foot width 10.5 cm I wear Nike and brooks usually in size US 10 with a thumb or slightly more space at front. Brooks glycerin 21 size US 10 Wide 2E almost fits good but slightly narrow in the midfoot now I have ordered online new balance rebel v4 and 1080v13 in size US 10 and width 2E both. Will they fit me or not just wanted to ask because as according to chart my size exactly is US9 but in running shoes I heard to size half or full size up.
Oh man... And I just got the 26s for $93. But after listening to your review, I'm leaning more towards the 1080 v13. It's much lighter, softer than the 26, and much more breathable than the 25. Not a runner, I don't even jog, just need a soft and light daily shoes to walk around with in a tropical country. Oh well, I'll probably get the 1080 v13s as well, could get one for around $100, just sucks that the colorways or pretty generic. How's the sizing on the Nimbus 26 and 1080 v13? They said that the Nimbus 26 is narrower and Asics are generally a tad smaller than shoes from Nike. Should I go half a size higher compared to the 1080 v13?
I know it’s all personal, but Is there a specific shoe you would recommend for a beginning guy runner preparing for a marathon in 3 months? (88kg body weight) - Planning on buying a new pair tomorrow at a running store but all opinions are welcome :)
I would prioritise comfort over pace and if that’s what you want to do I’d go with nimbus 25 invincible 3 or Cloud Surfer 7… or if you want a carbon plate then maybe Vaporfly 3
Which is better around the ball of your feet? Sometimes shoes can be very soft around the heel and mid foot but they taper to less cushion just before the toes which is where I get the most pain personally
I preffer NB 1080 v13 in any aspect, BUT durability is a strong factor for a poor boy like me. If I had to spend this amount of money, it must be in one piece for at least 3 years.

Maybe NB has improved the outsole rubber, but on previous models of the 1080, that outsole rubber wore out VERY quickly indeed!!
Oh right! Let’s wait and see. I will be looking out for 100 mile reviews coz I know it will me a while to get there 😂😂😂

The 1080V13 is the best zone 1 running/jogging shoe I have owned in the last 4.5 years.
Oh wow… that’s a massive vote of confidence and compliment to the shoe. My favourite is the Nike Invincible 3

When is the n27 coming out
I own both, i use 1080 for everyday walks and nimbus for gym workouts. The nb just has 0 energy return, cant even jump rope with them, the asics can.
That’s the beauty of these shoes… we will all have different experiences and personally prefer one over the other

love the 25 and 1080 plushiness, but i feel unstable on the heel area in 1080, and on the toes area in 25. Went for 26 and love the overall stability
