I LOVE Divinyls... Whatever year it is.. we should be so PROUD they are Australian... it is great they are performing again.. Can't get enough of them..
Another great aussie band from the 80's... One of many.. What an amazing voice she has.. Mark on guitar, what a team.. Shame she has been diagnosed with MS :( and read recently she now has breast cancer too :( Sometimes life doesnt seem fair. :( You can see shes really struggling in this clip.
Factoid: The Divinyls sang this track over the closing titles of the orginal 'Buffy The Vampire Slayer' movie in 1992... Donald Sutherland, Kristy Swanson etc. Don't dump on this kickass band until you check out some of their other stuff on UA-cam
I've watched all the Tatts videos I could find on here. I have all their discs. One of my very favorite bands since 1980. Hope to get to Australia some day and knock back a few pints.
this song puts a beat, back, into a broken heart.... hard to find lyrics like this... thanks, "young rascals". If your in a band, cover this song... see the reaction in the crowds faces....
ya, I'm in a band, we're into the 70s rock thing, we do this thanx to the Young Rascals. 😉😉😉 there's a version also by the rock band Angel. . . . . . Benjie/Philippines.
I agree about the plastic element in music these days. That's why I now listen to P.B.S. on the radio. The artists on this station are independent, allowing them freedom to demonstrate their awesome, jaw dropping talents!!!!
Well, she could build up this image herself:-) Look at her show scenes.. But this is just fun, good for a good joke anyway. I like them and their music, they are nearly a category of it's own. Thanks jederen for posting!!
Hello again Nanette,Groovin on a sunday afternoon.Another one for you to check out is The Rascals doing The knight bros-Temptations bout to get me_Felix & Eddie vocals at their best.YT also has an Aussie version from back then from the Virgil bros. With the Divinyls, check out their I ll make you happy & the Original,Easybeats version. They re both good listening.
The beauty of this song is that it is withstands the test of time. It's Felix Cavalierre's song. His voice is powerful and edgy. Drummer Dino Vanelli was a true innovator with his stacatto style of playing. The Rascals rocked. It was their misfortune to be an American band at the time of the British invasion with the Beatles, Stones et.al. But they could kick ass with the best of them. This is a good cover but check out the original. You'll be pleasantly surprised.
@squiffydoodle :They had a song early in their career called boys in town.Go to YT at the San Bernadino festival..this is quite a performance!! Consider this-Aus bands never got a show in the US or UK, so the early 80s was the start. The other big hit was Touch myself, used in the Austen Powers movie. The singer Chrissie Amphlett has a cousin over here who was very big in the 60s-if your interested-look up- LittlePattie.regards,jk
Thanks for looking it up on google. i was too lazy to do that. Looks like you got me beat 3 to 2...I just wonder who writes the lyrics on the CD inlay, someone just putting what they think they hear or someone reading the actual lyrics..."tantalize" makes more sense in context of the other words, dontcha think?
Well Nanette,I figured if you prefered the Young Rascals, then you are from the US and about the same age as me-55 yrs old or thereabouts.Yet, the rascals were big over here as well. There was that song..Life will be ecstacy, you and me endlessly. It sounded like..and lesley..got people asking-who is Lesley???
@zephranna01 I'm American, and I couldn't agree more. I hate the plastic influence my country has on yours and also Europe. Australia is unique and has produced some of my fave bands (Divinyls, Rose Tattoo, Buffalo, AC/DC etc.).
Well, actually i looked on google to make sure and i looked on 5 websites with the lyrics. 3 said Tantalize 2 said Turn to lies. so there you go. don't mess with me, i'm divinyls no.1 Fan.
@57highland I agree with it being a bad choice of material but I don't see it as a bubblegum song. The Rascal's original was more like white-hot blue-eyed soul, which is where the Divinyls miss. I like the arrangement and the guitar licks but Chrissy is out in left field on this one.
@soaringvulture What a coincidence! I was just on a posting of a Divinyls song (having forgotten this comment) and I caught hell for saying that Ann Wilson is a better singer than Chrissy Amphlett. Ann Wilson was a masterful vocalist. Chrissy is a Tina Turner type; you know, sexy on stage, lots of attitude on stage, but an average voice. Preening on stage and actual vocal ability are 2 different things. You're right. The Rascals' version was not bubblegum. I meant "Juvenile" (in a good way).
Please give the woman a break. She was suffering from the early stages of MS and looked like she was very exhausted. You might want to take a look at the version from the Jail House Rock 1993 video and their earlier material...such as the live performance of "Elsie"...no preening here..just performance artistry at it's finest. Everyone is entitled to an opinion...that's part of the fun of YT! PS. Saw the Rascals in Charlotte NC in 1968 and they were great but I prefer Divinyls version on a good day.
What Asses! 1st they pass Chrissy like she was'nt even there! Then when she asks what time is it shes obviously very bored with them and istead of anwsering her he disses her! WTF! He should feel honered to just be in Chrissy and Marks presents!
Talented band but definitely a bad choice of material. This song is a 1960's bubblegum-type song (even though the Rascals were not a bubblegum band) and doesn't translate too well into the present, with "bubblegum" being just a fond memory.
Yeah, its stupid, they should at least get the right lyrics up before they make something like a cd. lol people just can't do their jobs these daays. thanks anyways.x
Another incredible talent taken away to soon. We miss you Chrissy!

I saw them live in Tuscon in the early '90s. You Aussies rock!
I've heard a lot of bands do this song over the years, but Chrissie's hard to beat. You lucky Aussies!
I was so sad to hear of her passing RIP chissy you was a great singer and will be forever missed.
Very good. They rock. Chrissy was excellent showman. Show-woman.
They had some great trax. Miss them
Rip beautiful
She looks the same as she did in the 80's
Such a distinctive voice as well

Right on man, I finally found this song! Just found out it was off the Buffy soundtrack, IMO the best part of the flick!
Thanks for posting man!

@@benjaminacargen7799 It sounds sooo good with a Hammond B3
great to have divinyls back! rock on
What a great 'cn band!
Still Rock!!!!!
The guitarist puts me in mind of Spinal Tap. I'm guessing they were sleep deprived at that point :P
Awesome song.

this is an angel song ya'll

RIP Chrissy Amphlett
R I P glad you no longer sick but i we all gonna miss ya chrissy
I could never tell if she's singing "you know how to bite your lip and turn to lies" or "tantalize" !!
In the original by The Young Rascals Felix sings "and you know how to part your lips to tantalize."
I bought the Buffy the Vampire Slayer movie soundtrack for this song!
Actually, according to the lyrics inside the CD, it's "turn to lies." :)
@zephranna01 I'm American, and I couldn't agree more. I hate the plastic influence my country has on yours and also Europe. Australia is unique and has produced some of my fave bands (Divinyls, Rose Tattoo, Buffalo, AC/DC etc.).

Isn't this a cover of Angel?
@57highland I agree with it being a bad choice of material but I don't see it as a bubblegum song. The Rascal's original was more like white-hot blue-eyed soul, which is where the Divinyls miss. I like the arrangement and the guitar licks but Chrissy is out in left field on this one.
i totaly agree, i would give my soul and body to even be in the ame room as her...what disrespect.
listen to the original by the Young Rascals.

uh Chrissy was famous for her sultry pout, I wouldn't wanna watch her without it.. She just wouldn't be chrissy.
What Asses! 1st they pass Chrissy like she was'nt even there! Then when she asks what time is it shes obviously very bored with them and istead of anwsering her he disses her! WTF! He should feel honered to just be in Chrissy and Marks presents!
They are a pale shadow of The Young Rascals..
Talented band but definitely a bad choice of material. This song is a 1960's bubblegum-type song (even though the Rascals were not a bubblegum band) and doesn't translate too well into the present, with "bubblegum" being just a fond memory.
The Young rascals just belted this out whereas this is totally fucked. Its hard on you when you hear good songs destroyed.
cheesy cheese cheese cheese. man the 90s sucked. the young rascals version reigns!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yeah, its stupid, they should at least get the right lyrics up before they make something like a cd.
lol people just can't do their jobs these daays.
thanks anyways.x
Its now 2023 and Koch head is still on TV annoying viewers.
RIP Chrissy Amphlett
