Repetitive prayer, like the Rosary, can offer great spiritual benefits by fostering a deep sense of meditation and focus. As Father Mike explains, it allows us to reflect on the mysteries of Christ's life and build a rhythm that can anchor us in faith, especially during moments of distraction or anxiety. The repetition helps us internalize key spiritual truths and invites us into a state of contemplative prayer, where we can connect more deeply with God. But balancing repetition with intentionality is essential for making repetitive prayer spiritually enriching rather than empty. Thank you, Father.
I have learned so much from your videos. You have helped me grow my faith. In my youth group, we are learning about the 4 marks of the church, I would love to see a video about them! Thank you :)

I am a Protestant attending Catholic mass twice a week out of respect for my wife. I'm enjoying it quite a bit for all sorts of good reasons. However, I do find it difficult during the various prayers to understand what is being said as the priest is typically reciting prayers very quickly and with very little variation in tone and with very little if any emphasis on any word or phrase. At first I thought it might just be this particular priest that I was listening to, but in the last couple of years I think I've heard seven or eight different priests giving masses and I believe every single one of them spoke in this very fast unemphasised manner. It is also the case with the prayers that the congregation says together or in response. The pace is always hurried I join in on the Lord's prayer but it's difficult to keep up with everyone else. The creed is also spoken very quickly and various other prayers that I know are standard and named but I don't know the names of. Sometimes some priests seem to sort of sing part of a prayer and I like that as the singing seems to require better enunciation. I know the Lord hears us all, but, in that these prayers are said out loud and often as a congregation, I think there would be value if these were said in a way that it was easier for the ear and mind to discern the meaning.
There should be a book "Missel" in the pew that has the Hymns that are sung but also has a section where you should be able to follow along with the readings and prayers.

Revelation 4:8 and the four living creatures had each of them, six wings; and round about, and within, they are full of eyes. And they rested not day and night saying: holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty, who was, and who is, and who will to come. “They rested not day or night, (repeating) holy, holy, holy“ How come no one is concerned with their vain repetition? Perhaps some courageous soul would be willing to go take it up with them. I’ll stand back here and watch. 🍿🫣

Babbling like the pagans means for example meditating on meaningless sylables being repeated over and over again while believing that is your prayer to an idol or to the gods plural. We Christians including from the Roman Catholic worship rite believe that the only way to our father in heaven is through Jesus Christ. Praising the human mother of Jesus Christ who gave birth while still a virgin requires being humble enough to acknowledge in prayer that Jesus Christ is god made flesh through her.
I basically say the same prayers daily. It is great progress from periods in life I never prayed. Once in a great while, I feel stale and just talk candidly to God, using my own language, sometimes even profanity and talk to my Father. It is after these times I feel my closest to Jesus, God and the Holy Spirit. Just pray! Don't over analyze it. Thanks for an excellent topic, Father.
My Father says to just think about the person you want to pray for and that's all you need to do. I use transcendental meditation to pray myself most of the time. I think Jesus might of been talking about people showing off praying excessively in some cases too. Imho, Jesus was all about praying on the down low if you catch my drift. Thanks! Be blessed!!
That's the best way I've heard it explained, what do you Protestant listeners think about that? Does it make more sense now? I haven't heard it explained that way and that's so well put❤
Wonderful talk Father. Although that their real objection is most often more with respect to the need for penance or sacrifice. Acknowledging that would expose the lie of their belief system.
When I was little I was too lazy to say my prayers one night. God taught me a hard lesson by showing me a glimpse of the place where all the bad people go. The experience should've traumatized for life, but it didn't. I credit that to God being merciful and sparing the pain of that experience, and being a constant presence in my life despite my flaws. Ever since then, I've always made it a point to pray daily.
When I pray the Rosary, I am hyperfocused on repeating the words of St. Elizabeth, to which Mary responded with her Magnificat, glorifying God more than any of us can ever hope to glorify God. And then I focus on asking her to pray for us, the same way she prayed in response to St. Elizabeth, now and at the hour of our death. I meditate on this intentional request, with every prayer, because God is outside space-time and has eternity to hear every single prayer, whether they are identical or not.
Moreover as for me, far be it from me that I should sin against the Lord by ceasing to pray for you; and I will instruct you in the good and the right way. - 1 Samuel 12:23
Father as there are devotion for so many. My belief is there should be a very large devotion to Jesus and made by Pope Francis direction, to all Clergy. I believe Jesus is not getting the world wide attention as others saints. Think this, Jesus wants to be Loved above all and must be. 🙏, a year devotion by the Catholic Church to Jesus alone.
Yes, the key to what Jesus means is in the next verse: “Do not be like them. Your Father knows what you need before you ask him.” We don’t need to go on and on to get God’s attention or convince Him to be good to us. God already knows, and even knows better than we do, what is good for us.
@BeholdAndLo-f4v did God (Jesus) ever want us to have to pray? Isn't it the hardness of our hearts that we have removed ourselves from His favor? God doesn't need our prayers, He needs our hearts, and if repeating the same prayer over many times, is it an attempt to open our heart to Jesus?
On each Hail Mary and Our Father recitation, there is a deep conversation with God and with our Blessed Mother. For instance, in the second Joyful Mystery, the Visitation of our Blessed Mother to her cousin Elizabeth. We ask our Lady to visit us along with Her Son, our home, places, countries, churches, and any areas in our spiritual lives we need to most help with. I mean, the list is endless. We also meditate and contemplate the Mysteries of our Lord. Another example: we asked our Lord the Blood Which flew from His head Crowned with thorns to flow on aborted babies' Souls, in purgatory, in our wounds, etc. The secret: stay still and stay focused. I'm very confused about how it could be a repetition to anyone. It's just unlimited how the Holy Spirit can inspire us. Like many other prayers, the Holy Spirit is the One who inspired you on what to say during the recitation of the Holy Rosary. Which is the importance of staying still, and calm and focusing our imagination and whole being on God, Blessed Mother, Saints, and the Heavenly Hosts. It's a such Powerful Weapon because of how we pray for long periods of time although repeating the same prayer. There are so many fruits from the recitation of the Holy Rosary. Be still and have your mind & heart ❤ on God while praying it like any other prayers. The Recitation of the Holy Rosary is everything to me. If I accidentally leave it at home, I won’t be at ease until I go back to get it. The Holy Rosary is my Heart❤️and never without it. Always with me and it's my little companion 🌟. Our minds and imaginations could wander if only we stay still and let the Holy Spirit🕊🕊🕊 lead us through the entire Holy Rosary or prayers. I hope people learn how to say the Holy Rosary the right way and start to see the benefit of it! 🙏
I have no idea how doing so benefits me. Could you explain what those benefits are? If I knew what they were, I might better be able to tell if I was experiencing them.

❤🙏🏼 prayers for you Father Mike. Thank you so much for your wisdom and love.
Meditation on the life of Our Savior Jesus Christ is a wonderful blessing🙏 Although the rosary might seem repetitive to those who do not genuinely know the rosary, as it does have beautiful prayers, but it is all about the life of Jesus as it touches our hearts beyond compare.🙏
Your explanation on the babbling pagans reminds me of Elijah on Mt Carmel in 1 Kings 18:16-45! Thank you 🙏🏻
Thank you Father Mike, i always hear that from non-catholics. God bless you Father Mike! ✝️🛐❤️
Sadly some Catholics don't know their religion.

Yes! GOD is GOOD.
Prayer to rosary is so good because we meditate on the life Jesus and I am humbled.
Always.
Because God is Good.
It truly is that simple.
Catholics tell you to say 3-5 hail Mary's. That is vain repetition in rapid succession. Also Deut 18:11 forbids consulting the deceased. Also Matthew 28:18 gives Jesus all authority, not Mary. Also Acts 1 Mary worshiped Jesus in the upper room. Jesus scolded Mary, called her out publicly for not working in the ministry. Matthew 12:46-50
I didn’t even realize this was a concern. I am not Catholic, but I repeat myself in prayer quite often.
❤️
Protestants love making issues where there isn’t one
Yes, a big concern. Protestants and anti-Catholics call the rosary "vain repetition". But they don't read the next sentence, as Fr. Mike describes.
@@BayouBandit6 Yes, sadly I see too much of that happening as well. There is so much peace and good in praying the rosary, I get sad when I see some people abuse it. That should not influence us to stop tho. I have a beautiful framed photo in my house of Mary holding baby Jesus. They are together. As it should be.
The Rosary is a meditation in the life of Christ. What is your problem if they pray in front of Mary statue. You and your divisive group made the pastor remove the Mary state and now they Rosary group doesn't pray anymore. Maybe it's because of you. You are hurting people's devotion to Jesus Christ. You are the problem. Not them.
Thank you for the explanation Fr. Mike
Pray that i may be able to want to pray again, my desolation so bad, i cant even grown 😢 right now, yet i love The Trinity so much
***Talk to our Lord, informally until it gets easier for you. Tell Him how you feel & where you struggle. He already knows, but tell Him anyway. It will get easier (or maybe not for a while). It can be hard & Jesus understands us. God will help you. Don't make prayer a tough job. Uou are suffering already. God's ears are open. Please, let Him help you. ❤✝️ Just talk to Him. When you're driving your car, when you're washing your dishes, when you're taking a shower, just talk to Him. It really helps. 💞
Father Mike is such a great teacher! 👏🏽I’m enjoying my daily devotions in Hallow with Father Mike…thank you God for Father Mike and his guidance 🙏🏽
I have learned so much from your videos. You have helped me grow my faith. In my youth group, we are learning about the 4 marks of the church, I would love to see a video about them! Thank you :)
Bellissima spiegazione, il rosario con i suoi misteri è una preghiera cosi profonda ,basta recitare dal profondo del cuore .

I pray the Psalms everyday, morning, noon and night. Psalm 55:17. But I don't repeat the prayers in rapid succession. And the Psalms are from the Bible. Psalm 91
@@void9837 I love the Psalms. Repeating prayers in succession, just as we Catholics do in the Rosary or in the various litanies, has its precedent in Psalm 136.
"O give thanks unto the Lord; for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever.
O give thanks unto the God of gods: for his mercy endureth for ever.
O give thanks to the Lord of lords: for his mercy endureth for ever..."
@@JohnAugustine-Music Psalm 55:17 describes praying three times a day not rapid succession. Pray for your country, pray for other things.
@ Yes. But Psalm 136, on the other hand, is a literal litany, with a repeated clause. The same phrase is repeated 26 times in the course of the Psalm.
Thank you Father Mike. I pray you continue spreading God's word and the great news of his love to all with ears to listen.

Thank you Father Mike for this today! I was just thinking about this topic today, as an x-Catholic friend, who now leans Protestant, called the rosary "vain repetition" when speaking to me. Now I know how to respond.
The Rosary comes directly from the Gospel of Luke. Dear Jesus please help my words to You be words of Love and Hope. Help me be consistent and concise. Thank you for the prayer of the Rosary. Help me to not Babble. Amen.
Thank you, Father Mike.
@smithterrielou you took the words out of my fingers.
I would recommend on UA-cam, Explaining the faith Father Chris Alar he's done probably 100 videos on a plethora of different topics. Im a cradle catholic and still learning from him. He's a great speaker. Funny and tells it like it is
I have to remind myself that my soul purpose is I'm there for the Holy Eucharist. ❤
It can be a bad habit to pray familiar prayers quickly...we need to be reminded to slow down and savour the words and meanings
Father Mike! Can you do a video on what Catholics think of the modern practice of "speaking in tongues"?

Always great listening to you, Father Mike. You are so interesting and clever. I'm glad you are speaking on this topic, because when I say the rosary daily, I feel like I'm babbling. You cleared this up for me here. Thank you! You're great.

I agree wholeheartedly! Hallow has changed my prayer life and give it more structure and devotion.
Bless you, Father. Thank you for your videos. Your information and explanations are very helpful. You are so full of energy, of spirit, but sometimes you speak so fast it's hard to keep uo with what you are saying. 😊👍🙏
Thanks for the clarification, Fr. Mike ❤

Thank you 🙏 Father Mike
Amen thank you father
Thank you, Father!
Wonderful talk Father. Although that their real objection is most often more with respect to the need for penance or sacrifice. Acknowledging that would expose the lie of their belief system.
The Rosary is the Bible on Beads! Our Lady of Fatima- PRAY FOR US ❤🙏🏻
"God is in heaven and you are on Earth, therefore let your words be few." -Ecclesiastes 5:2
How many times is "few" ? 5 ? 10 ? 200 ? How can you know for sure if the words of the Rosary are "few" or "many" ?
Perfect timing ❤
Because of you gathering have become closer to Jesus
A lovely explanation ❤
Thank you😊
🤔 this is answering a lot of questions i'm having. thanks!
Meditation on scripture. Beautiful
Moreover as for me, far be it from me that I should sin against the Lord by ceasing to pray for you; and I will instruct you in the good and the right way. - 1 Samuel 12:23
In his book, The World's First Love, Ven. Fulton Sheen gives a beautiful apologetics argument against this accusation.
Thank you
For "Bible alone" folks: Psalm 136 is pretty darn repetitive.
I still don't know what the rosary means, but I’ve been really intrigued by it!
Ty for sharing 😃
Excellent video!
That concept is interesting; I have never heard of nor thought of "babbling in prayer."
Thanks!
Yes, the key to what Jesus means is in the next verse: “Do not be like them. Your Father knows what you need before you ask him.” We don’t need to go on and on to get God’s attention or convince Him to be good to us. God already knows, and even knows better than we do, what is good for us.
well said father
If Jesus didn't want us to repeat prayers, he wouldn't have taught the Our Father.
@BeholdAndLo-f4v He also didn't say only pray it once.
(I grew up Catholic, still am, but feel God gave us free will to ask questions, and grow, not tow the line of doctrine).
We also meditate and contemplate the
Mysteries of our Lord.

While any form of prayer is a response to God's invitation.
When you pray, you are inviting God into your souls and you become one with Him.
You open your heart ❤️ to Him about things that worried you, your concerns and joys etc.
In fact, you are giving your concern to God to work on your soul and on our Hearts ❤️ even if you don't see the benefits immediately.
We won't become spiritually mature in one day but it is a daily disposition and response to God's invitation.
It is a matter of the quality of the amount of time we spend with God whether is during the Holy Bible Reading, Holy Rosary, or sporadic gaze on Him during our busy day (work, car, crowd, bus etc), Angelus prayers etc.
and any form of prayer.
The more we spend time with Him, the more we know Him, the more we love ❤️ Him and eventually, we become more like Him.
