  • One hundred years ago the 19th Amendment, which would protect women's right to vote, was just one vote short of ratification. "Face the Nation" moderator Margaret Brennan reports on how the landmark legislation finally earned passage, and talks with historians Elaine Weiss, Susan Ware and Martha S. Jones about how suffragists such as Carrie Chapman Catt won the long-pitched battle which, for black women, continued long after the amendment became embedded in our Constitution. Brennan also talks with singer Rosanne Cash who celebrated the suffragists' legacy.

The only thing that could match this would be the passage of the Equal Right Amendment.

If you haven't seen Iron Jawed Angels, treat yourself to it. Hillary Swank, Angelica Huston and Julia Ormond are fantastic! It tells the story of the 19th amendment with a delightful sound track.

The fears that some people had, about what would happen if women would get the vote, were crazy. Just shows how fear can stunt a nation.

Napoleon thought that women were inferior to men. In Napoleon's view, women were destined to play a domestic role, rather than a public one.

All women, never underestimate or lessen the sacrifice that any of these women made. All women, black, white, brown, red; over years and years heroically stood up for their basic Constitutional

That's the problem we take that for granted the 19th Amendment the 19th amendment gives a woman's right to vote but it also gives every citizen the right to vote to.. that's what makes America great. Because bottom line we still run by democracy. That's why I believe that we should Define Electoral College. Because the bottom line is Hillary Clinton did have the majority of the votes and realistically she should have won bought I'm not saying that I'm for her or against her I'm just saying that is that that does take the majority out of the picture. What is your opinion on that I think that they should Define the Electoral College. And put it back into majority rules

Prevention of Sexual Assault, Mandatory Classes, for boys 6th thru 12th grade. This will reduce the criminal element, 20 or 25 years, from now. U.S Military and Police Agency, must become more in these schools, in America.

This story brings on very conflicted emotions. For the first one hundred years, we women are not looking so good. I hope we are going to do a whole lot better in the second hundred years. Our social, economic, political, educational, legal, health and family situations are perhaps weaker than 100 years ago, certainly not the hoped for improved sensitivity to human needs that were our ancestresses hopes and dreams for the future. Why?
