Great review mate. Love your Aussie perspective, and as a fellow Pixel owner due for upgrade in Dec, I have a few choices for a new device...damn...that Pixel 4 not as tempting at the moment as I’d like...
Plus, the price. With these kind of midrange phones that keeps getting better, it's really hard to justify nowadays those around $1k phones. Yeah, Pixel's camera is really good, but hey, there's GCam.

His review is right on point. I've had this phone for almost 4 months now (I change phones very frequently) and I've made the same observations. If only the cameras were more consistent with taking photos, this phone would be a keeper but I'm planning on changing soon due to the cameras. P30 pro or Mate 20 pro are the only ones I would change this phone for. No other phone.
Been using this phone for over a month now, it's rock-solid. The display is beautiful with such minimal bezels, the SoC is also powerful to run every tasks you thrown at it smoothly even though it look kinda weak on paper. Battery life is good enough on full day usage. Audio quality on headphone jack is also pretty good and loud with Hi-Fi mode enabled, but sounds thin and no-oomph at all when disabled. The only thing that is quite unfortunate with this phone is the price. With at least 70 bucks more you could get the pro version, with much faster SoC, laser autofocus, dc dimming, and better XDA development.
Xiaomi offers a 1st party launcher called "Poco Launcher". What I did is I installed it and applied the pixel app icons and put on dark mode. Coming from a TouchWiz s8, MIUI 10 (and soon 11) is incredible. Clean and smooth and even more feature rich than stock.

Watching this vid with my new MI 9T pro! I agree with your points! And using decent headsets is a little bit lacking (volume department). But this is a beast for our hard worked money. And MIUI 11 is fully compatible with GCam to counter the camera problem.
If you have problems or not satisfied with its camera, installing gcam greatly helps. Portrait's background blur is seemless, night sight is sharp with great details, selfie looks so natural, HDR+ makes every photo great and many more... With gcam, it takes even greater photos (especially selfie) than my brother's s9 in Daylight..
Hey u gained a subscriber bcos u the 1st to talk about the miui in a review, I’m also pixel experience lover. So I’m torn between this phone and the xiaomi mi a3
Actually i don't like the camera especially the selfie cam but after installing gcam, everything became great. It even takes better Daylight photos (especially selfie) than my brother's s9
Figured out the gestures -- nice. This makes your bottom bezel even smaller. You missed how to make the fingerprint reader on screen to work every time in every angle and at the slightest touch. Just program your favorite finger *twice.* Software will open the home screen as soon as it finds the matching finger. Got it?
Good content man, It could have been better if you talked about other details like the headphone jack. You said the audio was lackluster with the speaker but then don't mention the convenience of the jack and its performance. You also mentioned pictures but didn't discuss video capabilities. It would have been nice to get a complete look at the mobile phone. Lastly and completely off-topic, check out beardbrand though mate and the 'stach will look much better! Peace!
Install the Google Camera app, the difference in image quality is astounding. I've personally tried it. I took a picture with the stock camera app in the park, flat colors, not a lot of detail. But wit the google camera app you can capture some amazing photos, i took the same picture but with the google camera and the difference was HUGE
Life long Samsung user until two months ago when I broke my S8 for the second time. Switched to this phone (despite of it's 600$ price here) and have never looked back. The only issue is that it's too big for someone with small hands like me, nothing else at all.
I own a Mi 9T for less than a year and I can't express how disappointed I am with this phone. I got it because of the excellent references from my family and close friends who are super happy with their Xiaomi phones. You cannot relay on this one, sometimes it works smoothly but sometimes it doesn't even open a simple webpage. Camera as well, as you showed us perfectly, is trash most of the time. Front camera has a beauty filter on all the time and you can't take a single photo without a filter. I've never been so disappointed with a mobile phone in my entire life, to be completely honest, and I can't wait to replace it with a different one, just don't want to make the same mistake again.
I'll plug it in to charge it, then I'll place it on a pile of cash I saved by not buying an S10.

Great review! Your voice is quite pleasing to listen to as well. Can't wait to get this phone. By the way, I've heard the camera is 10 times better if you use GCam software. I say give it a try! I bet you'll be surprised about the improvement in images quality.
Great editing, video and review!! You deserve more subscribers :)
Holy shit finnaly a video with the correct screen size for the mi9t
hi there, can you tell me about the pop up camera with Instagram story, does it pop up automatically? (also with video calls) thank you :) during a video call does it ask for permission to pop up the camera or does it appear automatically? thank you.
Do you know Sam ...
That are videos are top notch quality...and your production of your videos are truely awesome ...
Keep up the great work ..you will get more 1 million subscribers soon...♥️♥️💪💪
Top notch editing man, congrats
@Sam Beckman Love this video man, really great quality. Just one question though, what launcher were you using in the video, I don't want to flash a rom and rather stick with a launcher. Thanks love from Nigeria
Thank you for the bigger Format ;)
MIUI gestures are one of the things that keep me on Xiaomi.eu. I'd love to try something new, but I always come back to the fluidity of the app switching gesture.
Watching this vid with my new MI 9T pro! I agree with your points! And using decent headsets is a little bit lacking (volume department). But this is a beast for our hard worked money. And MIUI 11 is fully compatible with GCam to counter the camera problem.
Hey mate. How's the phone in terms of network connectivity? Is it strong, does it support voLTE & how does the GPS perform? Cheers
great quality video, you've got a new subscriber
If you have problems or not satisfied with its camera, installing gcam greatly helps. Portrait's background blur is seemless, night sight is sharp with great details, selfie looks so natural, HDR+ makes every photo great and many more... With gcam, it takes even greater photos (especially selfie) than my brother's s9 in Daylight..
i love your homescreen setup :D what is the launcher used?
Lawnchair.
Hey u gained a subscriber bcos u the 1st to talk about the miui in a review, I’m also pixel experience lover. So I’m torn between this phone and the xiaomi mi a3
Love all Ur home screen setups..
Plz make a setup for K20 pro (MI 9T) series
Feels like watching a movie with your video... Really love it... Gonna subscribe now!!!
Great vid and crazy dope editing! You earned a new sub Sir!
I have one and absolutely love it. The camera is awesome
This is my new favourite tech channel.
Most underrated tech youtuber this year
Which launcher or theme u r using bro it looks awesome... Can u plz share that info
I also agree on the review except the camera part. For me, I've used it a lot, and the quality is nothing but impressive.
FFF (read f fast focus)
Actually i don't like the camera especially the selfie cam but after installing gcam, everything became great. It even takes better Daylight photos (especially selfie) than my brother's s9
Figured out the gestures -- nice. This makes your bottom bezel even smaller.
You missed how to make the fingerprint reader on screen to work every time in every angle and at the slightest touch. Just program your favorite finger *twice.* Software will open the home screen as soon as it finds the matching finger. Got it?
Came for the review, subbed for the video quality, holy shit
Xiaomi is pronounced "Shiaomi"
@@heavybuffalo8747 xavi isn't a Mandarin word but xiaomi is
"Shaomi" 😁😁
Ziao me
most chinese people say "Shao mi"
Shower (-er) + me
Good content man, It could have been better if you talked about other details like the headphone jack. Peace!
The video quality tho. Aesthetic at its best! Enjoyable to watch!
The only issue is that it's too big for someone with small hands like me, nothing else at all.
you should actually make tutorials video to make us learn "the art of editing videos like Sam Beckman"
Is it easy to find a good case for it?
It feels like watching a movie. Nice vid man.
What phone would you recommend if the camera is a priority for me? this phone's camera or the one on Pixel 2 XL ?
The fingerprint for me it's pretty ok and fast
Just scan same finger twice
