OK but it would have been useful to mention that the SP-404 FX won't apply to samples triggered by the TR-8. You have to trigger a sample manually to be able to apply SP-404 FX to it. This is a very important info for users.
Thanks for this great video! Does the SP-404A receive the position information of the TR-8's volume faders or just the trigger to play the samples? If one builds a drum kit with several SP-404A sound pads it would be good if one could fade out some sounds while fading in others. Thanks again a lot!
If you have all set up like in the video and you dont trigger the sp 404a via tr8, is the sp 404a behaving like the older sp 404s than? like just synct and playing there own patterns? to play longer patters than two bars for example. last question i need to get answerd
Yes, when it is plugged like in the video, the SP-404 is triggered by the TR-8 when the TR-8 sends it a message, but apart from that the SP-404 behaves as if it was standalone.
Loading a kit per pattern does work. Just enable auto save on the tr-8. If you want your kits built perfect and live you want to mess around, then save your kits first and then disable auto save. You'll have perfect kits every time. I use my tr8 with a synth, 404 CF card version, and the 404a. Hope that helps.
I'm looking for the same info. I know you can run the sp-404mk2 into the external audio in, but im guessing they have some cool features that aren't super apparent for all users.
so how do you program a sample that is on pad nr 12 on the SP404? since there are only 11 instruments on the tr8, does that mean that pad is not accessible?
Works with all 404 models. I have the OG with CF cards and it works with that too. Works with akai sd samplers as well, but not as good and can't sample flip.
@@satyanpatel6403 yes ir has,but how about working with tr8s. Doesd it work together like tr8 and sp? You can play longer loops and so, with sp404a so its good to have them both why not?
@@EasyCR I have the tr-8 and sp404 combo and you can load files from the 404 to the pads, but you only have one set, and the tr-8 effects do not apply to the 404, and the 404 effects only work, if you hit the pad first and then load the effects. It's really weird to explain, but it does work.
Hey fam.. Even though you could sample on the TR- 8S, you are better off not sampling because the process of sampling into it is a b***h. You're better off not sampling in the TR- 8S in my opinon & do what's being demonstrated in this vid.
@@faustostar9627 so your saying the compatibility of the 404A and the TR-8s are solid? I have a TR-8s and it's such an amazing performance machine I've been using it like a groovebox, but it's sampling memory is so limited. Is this the answer??
This is the video Roland should have released first when the new firmware debuted for the tr-8 to be able to do this. Very informative.

Excellent
My creativity just expanded!
Thanks, I was looking for this kind of video!
Help!
I updated the tr8 with the firmware 161, but the sp404a samples do not activate ..
One question. The video makes it feel like it does...but it's a bit sketchy. Do the faders adjust the volume of the samples? Yes or no?
Never made any music but I need that setup. Got the tr8. Next step get a sp-404. Ppor people problems.

Do you think it works With a simple sp404 too?
Is it possible to keep a certain kit per pattern? So it automatically loads it when chosen?

Pad 12 is not accessible.
@@satyanpatel6403 thanks. i'll just stick to using push 2 and Live for sampling and keep using the TR8 as a 808-909 groovebox.
Great video! This works with SP404 sx too?

It does and works the OG with CF cards as well.
Is it possible to do that with a TR-8S aswell?
TR-8s has sample capabilities already built in. You load from SD card directly into TR-8s, it has the reader built in.

Does this works with sp555?
my tr8 only has 808 and 909 im too poor for 100$ plugout
