You don't re-declare an attack, you get a replay and get the chance to decide whether you either stop your attack or choose a new target if you so desire/are forced to
@@MrOz1705 Reason is most likely due to replay rulings. A replay occurs if the legal amount of attack target changes. In this case, they only had direct attack as an option. But with a new monster on the field, the new target is the one being present on the field. Therefore the option became 1 to 1(direct to orochi)
@@mrdude88 As pointed out elsewhere you do not redeclare in the first place. Your attack has been declared already you simply may choose to select a new target for the already ongoing attack.
Another way to think of it: Declaring an attack is like a plane taking off and it flies towards its destination (attack target). When the field state changes and the re-direct happens, the attack/plane is still in the air. Mirror force cards can only activate when the attack/plane is taking off, so if it's in the air already, it's too late.
Judge here. As I'm sure other comments have pointed out by now, there's a bizarre quirk of the rules where, when a replay battle occurs, effects having their trigger timing at attack declaration (e.g. Mirror Force, Draining Shield) cannot activate when the new attack target is selected. This rule is confusing, but it's a thing and comes up a fair amount.
@@0xArcane exactly, also former yugioh judge, a replay only allows the switching of targets when a new body hits the board, or to stop attacking altogether. You declare an attack BEFORE any of this happens, if it were to happen at all, so no harm no foul. That's also why if you decide to not attack with the monster when the replay occurs and instead go with another one(i.e the new monster out is too big for the original attacker, etc.), you cant go back to the original and declare another attack because it had already declared one for the turn, despite its attack never going through.
It's not a redeclare, it's a replay. You can choose not to follow through on the declared attack when targets change though, which is the real oddity in the attacking rulings, especially when a number of battle traps are designed specifically around redirecting or negating attacks.
I play Kozmo and its nice seeing other people use it too if done right you can basically shut down you're opponents with dark planet and the lvl 9 one that negates traps and spell cards
My preferred strategy is banishment control. Cards like Dimensional Fissure and Macro Cosmos are risky moves, because you shut off your floating, but it is a safe bet that you will likely be able to deal with banishment alot better than your opponent can. Straw Man, Scaredy Lion and Kozmotown all provide you with recovery tools for banishment and they have just enough disruption with a combination of Dark Lady, Slipdrider and Dark Destroyer that you can quite reliably stop an opponent's plays. It's a swingy, but brutal strategy that can completely cripple decks that would otherwise have no issue plowing over you.
@@AlluMan96 oh thats an original way og using it !! @@petiteexplication6249 I use em' that way, because while I would hesitate to call them outdated, they don't have access to alot of the modern conveniences of bloated-ass support. Their searchers are an RNG-searcher and battle searcher, they don't have alot of good swarming that isn't dependent on pre-existing setup and they lack any in-archetype extra deck options. They have a small, but significant deficiency on their power, so using floodgates as powerful as Macro and getting away with it is their one strong equalizer. It's a shame, because with Konami's trend towards giving small patches of all-purpose support to old archetypes, Kozmos are a deck that would benefit most from that. They just need one of two really strong pick me ups to get a new lease on life. I can understand Konami's hesitation to go making stirs in Disney's pot, but with how close they are to being completely fine for the modern age, I think they deserve that one small support wave.
A re-declaration isn't declaring the attack again. It is confirming that you want to go through with your declaration. The attack was already declared but you have the option to stop the attack or change the target. Think about it as loading a cannon to fire at a ship and having a new ship appear. You already loaded your cannon but you now have the option to either not fire or to fire on the new ship instead. If you choose to fire, you don't load the cannon again before doing so.
3:44 it's asking you if you want to activate blazing mirror force after activating gizmek's summon and you just clicked through it lmao. Just another instance of yu-gi-oh players being unable to read.
It's wierd but ive been screwed over by this before. Replaying attacks dont seem to trigger cards like mirror force since its not technically an attack declaration. Yet another reason why people dont run this card much anymore
If an attack target is chosen again because of a replay, the already-attacking monster is not considered to be "declaring an attack" again, so cards/effects that activate in response to an attack declaration (such as "Mirror Force") cannot be activated.
From the YGO wikia: "If an attack target is chosen again because of a replay, the already-attacking monster is not considered to be "declaring an attack" again, so cards/effects that activate in response to an attack declaration (such as "Mirror Force") cannot be activated.[10][11] However, cards and effects that activate in response to a monster being targeted for an attack (such as "Crystal Beast Amber Mammoth") can be activated.[12]"
+1 to Broken Record, a replay is not a redeclare. A replay doesn't produce another declare trigger. This has been a thorn in my side for a long time when I've wanted to use Call of the Haunted in to Darkness Neosphere.
The mirror force prompt didnt appear because redeclaration happens during the battle step which is the step after declaration. An instance where ygo slang “redeclare” works against common understanding
Replay Rules during the Battle Step After you’ve announced your attacking monster and the attack target monster during a Battle Step, the attack target might be removed from the field, or a new monster may be played onto the opponent’s side of the field before the Damage Step, due to a card’s effect. This causes a “Replay.” When this occurs, you can choose to attack with the same monster again, or choose to attack with a different monster, or choose not to attack at all. Note that if you attack with a different monster, the first monster is still considered to have declared an attack, and it cannot attack again this turn.
They have twins programmed wrong too. When you special summon after a normal summon, even if your opponent destroys the normal summoned monster, the special summoned monsters effect is suppose to go off cause it's the only card on the field. But it's programmed wrong so you end up with a worthless twin whose effect never goes off.
You only Declare one attack really, when a monster enters the field look at it like taking the attack back or changing the target, but the declaration already happened and is only going to happen once.
Heads up from a generaider player, it’s mostly just SR heavy excluding extra deck, you only need 2 of the UR main deck monster +whatever staples or non generaider stuff. But it’s SUPER sr heavy like u need a ton of them to make it consistent
So I found a bug where, when I use Zeke effect on widow anchor to go for my chain, but was interrupted by skill drain. Somehow that widow anchor couldn't be activated anymore even after few turn went by. Other widow anchor still works though. But then after I managed to destroy skill drain, and use Zeke effect again to that widow anchor it suddenly works again. Btw during the bug, that widow anchor has a 'selected/targeted' icon on it all the time.

Yeah its not a re-declare, the attack was already declared that is why if you stop the attack the attack is lost.

Yeah if replay happens it isn't treated as a new attack that can be responded to

Replay Rules during the Battle Step
After you’ve announced your
attacking monster and the attack
target monster during a Battle
Step, the attack target might be
removed from the field, or a new
monster may be played onto the
opponent’s side of the field before
the Damage Step, due to a card’s
effect. This causes a “Replay.”

to attack with the same monster
again, or choose to attack with a
different monster, or choose not
to attack at all. Note that if you
attack with a different monster,
the first monster is still considered
to have declared an attack, and it
cannot attack again this turn.
