  • How does EOTO do it??
When EOTO say's Live and Improvised all the time, they really mean it!
Jason and Travis take you on a tour of their live show set up, and give an in depth explanation and demonstration of all the gear, instruments, tools, methods, and processes that they use for playing all of their shows.
Thanks to Hear See Feel Productions for the video.

EOTO is by far my favorite live electronic act. They make you feel really alive and also filled with light if that's possible, because it's the only way I know how to describe it. Every show I go to for the last three years just gets better and better! If you wanna see some poorly filmed EOTO live sets check out my page.

I was killing some time before an EOTO show in Ft. Collins and literally just bumped into Jason, he bought me a vegas bomb and chatted with me for a minute. I was already an EOTO fan…but I will never miss a show now. Ever.

Yes, and I should have pointed out that I was able to listen to EOTO while in a sober state as well before my comment got downvoted to oblivion. They were incredible. Never encountered anything like 'em.

Two of the greatest musical events ive ever witnessed: EOTO at the Catskill Chill 2012 and then at Summer Camp 2013... ive never really seen such a high percentage of a crowd just completely lost in the dance... ineffable really... they bring out such a good vibe in the crowd, loss of ego and an invasion of boogie... ok.. Ill stop trying to describe the ineffable... I hope I am attending EOTO shows for years to come.

Saw EOTO live for first time at Resonance fest in Ohio last night. Wow! These guys are musical geniuses, creating and improvising nonstop beats, melodies and vocals. Their improvising is much like jazz artists, only more vivid and eclectic. Their live set drew me in gradually and then to a mesmerizing level. Truly a captivating performance! Their mastery of real time music creation is amazing.

awesome technology, still terrible music. sorry guys. its not just in the gear. but in the art you express, dance music is cool, but i reallly want my art to be artistic, not just sound "good" or "groovy". Everything is so "safe" tonally, theres other emotions other than happy and fun. Travis is an incredible drummer and I think he should play drums, not just layer diatonic riffs that can be manipulated into the right key and time. Give those vocal effects to mike patton plz.

Truly an inspiration. Supersylum would be nothing without the genius of EOTO to influence how we needed to create music! We use an all hardware approach, but very similar in how the music is produced. Thank you guy's for clearing up how you create all of your music live. And thank you for setting the bar higher to inspire musicians like us to create beautiful music using our ever growing availability of technology!!

I've never heard of you folks and came across this vid by chance. I've been working on something similar ( I like to think it's similar in my head any way lol ) and this was very informative and motivational. A lot of performers don't let the people know what they are doing on stage and pass down the knowledge. Thank you for this!!!

I believe all of their stuff is 100% improvised, except for their Electric Forest 2012 set... They seemed to have way too many lyrical songs. Plus, the Electric Forest Avenue song. It had to pre-thought of.

can anyone explain how around 10:00 he is managing to do this? he has all the instruments going through all the tracks, every monitor appears to be off, but once he loops the clip, the monitor turns on. how do they achieve this?

    • @crippenrocks

Just turn the monitor to off on the Ableton channel and it won't play back the recording, only a launched clip
