DUDE, you are a lifesaver! My low power 500w smoke machine wasn't working properly for weeks, then i stumbled upon your video. It used to shoot smoke for some seconds then stop and make that weird noise your machine makes when its empty. Then i ran some Bi-demineralized water (which actually is water for car batteries - same as distilled water) through it and it just fixed it. Now it shoots smoke farther and longer. 100% Verified. Thanks for another great tutorial, keep up the good work
I was told by a major dealer and manufacturer use proper de-iniosed water from a purchased bottle as it is pure. Tap water into a kettle contains minerals such as lime which causes kettles to get furrwed up and pipes, pipes just like in your smoke machine. So use clean battery grade bottled water - only costs £1 to £2. This will keep machine properly clear.
Good video! I now do this after each use. Clogged my last one up because I just used to empty out the remaining juice after a mobile disco and then pack it away for the next gig. Had to invest in a new 400w mini fogger for NYE just gone. I used it for Halloween last year and did this afterwards and the machine worked a treat last Sunday night! 👍
Thanks man, good video - quick and to the point, no BS. Had zero cleaning instructions supplied with my machine - this fixed my clogged up machine just fine. Cheers David
Hi Jonathan, i'm a newbie to smoke machines, i know how it works but I have question. After the gig is over & you used your smoke machine, it's better to empty the machine's pipe & pump, or leave it like that until you're next gig?
I have a new Chauvet 1700 fogger and only used it 3 or 4 times. It shoots the fog out of the nozzle but all of it is not fog some is a liquid. So it spills on the floor and there is fog liquid on the floor, which is VERY dangerous I Plan on attempting your cleaning method when i get home. Do you have any other suggestions ? Like i said its damn near brand new
just watched your video. great tip. i have a Little 400w fog machine the im gussing clogged somewhere. i went ahead and pulled the heater out and cleaned it. i decided to use Throttle body cleaner and an air gun. worked great. yes i know TB cleaner is highly flamable. but that's before it evaporates. i also noticed the tube going from my fluid tank to the pump had a small mesh filter on it. i cleande it the same way ind re installed it. machine works as good as it did the day i got it.
you can also buy an acid product, this does the same job but it has no chance of damageing the inside. it can be placed straight into the machine without clearing the pipe first. it does cost more thn this idea but reduces the risk of injury. it is also reusable and it doesnt vapourise, it comes out the nozzle as liquid
Also cleaning the filter with a brush and some soap prevents the pump from sucking air bubbles into the hose, those air bubbles makes the pump work like hell and may even break it. Running without the filter increases performance but you make get impurities into the system and get your machine clogged.
any idea on what the range is on the remote for that smoke machine? looking at getting the kam ksm 1100 but im gonna be a good distance away from the machine (booth logistics \ space)
Usefull stuffs, I myself had a V1 Fogger (Yeah I know) and it got severely jammed when the fluid had been in there way too long, I used it almost every week, Until it blocked, I tried the Vinegar and water solution, it worked temporarily, then blocked and stank of vinegar? Thoughts?
My 2000w qtx fogger outputs it makes a loud noise and it comes out slowly will this fix it or I've basically ruined a £200+ fog machine which was amazing for its price I really hope this would work please respond I need it in operation is all somebody please respond who has tried this on a blocked fogger also the white tube around the output source is lose
Water which you have boiled in a kettle and then allowed to cool is NOT deionised and is NOT suitable for use. All of the ions are still dissolved in the water - in actual fact you will simply increase the concentration of ions due to some of the water evaporating. All you have done is killed off most of any bacteria in the water. To de-ionise water you must pass it through an ion exchanger. Perhaps you were thinking about distilled water, but you still need to actually distill the water.
Will this work for my QTX 2000 mark 2 it's a 2000w fogger which outputs 40,000 cubic feet normally but at the moment and even with fluid mine makes the same noise as yours did with no fluid is it blocked or is it broken for good mate as it's non serviceable is all
If you're in the states and don't want to boil your own, look in a grocery store for "Distilled" water. Distilled water is water that's boiled into steam and condensed back to water so it's free of impurities. You should be able to find it in drug stores and supermarkets.
You can buy fog machine cleaning solutions, which are 80% distilled water, and 20% white vinegar. Or, you can do it yourself. Usually after 40-50 hours of constant use, is recommended.
hey man i have just bought a 20 dollar smoke macine from a pawn broker it said on it pipes need cleaning but i have just run a whole tank full of water and vinegar and it still has that sound like it has nothing to pump through any suggestions
I did it then when I tried to suck up the fog juice it wouldn't suck it would try but it seems like the pump can't pump it through the pipe help please party very soon
to cfmonline, i sort of agree, but you need to get rid of all the Smoke fluid to get clean water through the pipe, so only one second of nothing in the pipe is fine. This way you will only get water and not a mixture . j
You need distilled water which is basically pure water. Pure water wont rust out the guts as there is no contaminants that will start the rusting process. You can buy this in the shops, house wives use it in their irons to make them last longer.
Well guys hows this for a test............ Old 15 year old Martin Junior Fogger............ started to struggle. cleaned as directed.............now its perfect..no problems many thanks proving its not to late to teach an old dog new tricks! jason
I'm fan of Ellaskins for many years, but THIS VIDEO IS WRONG. Even just simple white vinegar is safer than using any type of water. I had used distilled water to clean 2 smoke machines in the past (one 700W and one 1600W) both pumps stopped completely producing smoke (never worked again). After trying all methods, only distilled vinegar worked fine. If you follow this video on a cheap smoke machine, I guarrante you that the pump will NOT work again.
Its NEVER a good idea to run the machine dry.. Empty the container of fluid and then refill with de-ionised water and run the machine till steam comes out. DONT RUN THE PUMP EMPTY - IT WILL DESTROY YOUR MACHINE

Just did this on my "choked" Antari F-80Z and it cleared!! It is now working like new!! Thanks for the tip, keep up the good work
@ellaskins I have used vinegar in my smoke machine to unblock it, not really cleaning as such.
nice one... some say you need vinegar and water?

Johnathan, you said that WHAT kind of water we should use? Normal water or any special kind of?
Thanks man, good video - quick and to the point, no BS. Had zero cleaning instructions supplied with my machine - this fixed my clogged up machine just fine. Cheers David
Not sure although vinega and citric acid are acids and may be able to help get rid of any blockages??
j
Brilliant video and great presenter. Thanks for this. Just got a fog machine today and the cleaning instructions were pretty much non-existent.

I have read comments else where about adding vinegar or citric acid....any thoughts???

excellent! thanx, but where do I get ionized water?
anyway I appreciate this video
I do this but I also clear the hole in the nozzle with the cleaning pin thing that came with the machine (Martin Magnum 550).
Help how do I do it if the smoke fluid is in an inbuilt tank???!!!

what is the name of ur fog machine?
de-ionized. you can buy this or, like J said, it's basicly normal water but boiled and coolen down.
im gald youve said this coz ive had a prob with mine for ages.. i know its a blockage but could never get to it.. thanks mate.. will give it a go
Did it clear your blockage
my fog machine doesnt have the pipe
so i just put boiled water thats cooled inside and let it run until its all gone then add fog juice for a test run
always wondered how to do this, thanks!

choc0blocklet2 clogged filter maybe pump or dissemble pipe and use a pipe cleaner
I did it then when I tried to suck up the fog juice it wouldn't suck it would try but it seems like the pump can't pump it through the pipe help please party very soon

you can also use 50% distilled water and 50% clear vinegar, the vinegar breaks down all the build up in the pipes. especially if you use fragrance
Thanks for the vid, J. It's things like this that really come in useful for some of us!
this could be down to the heating element not being hot enough , and so in turn the fluid is not condensing enough.
j
yeah its simple maintence i actualy gotta do that to my fog machine soon its been awhile
Hello, Tok a round whit cleningfueld, but the wierd noys you got still there on mine martin rush sm650, 🤔🥵

Brilliant thanks so much for this.

This is also a great way to break the pump...
I'm engaging with the outlet of a smoke machine and a kettle at the same time.
Who’s Watching in 2021 & Using these machines to fight Covid ?
Smoke machines smell nice. That's why I go to parties - because of the smoke machine smell
And im gonna press play 😂
