Hej.That was a cool overnighter. All you need is a Mora knife and a Fjällraven greenland jacket.I still have my 40 year +++ old Mora knife, love it ! Have a wonderful weekend.
hey! thanks! it's so cool, there's just something with old gear that you just can't get with the new stuff, you have stories with it, its connected to you!
Nice shelter build with just a knife. I have never owned a Mora but have heard only heard good things about them. Once I built a shelter and I woke up to a pack of coyotes all yipping and carrying on about 30 feet away from where I was laying. They kept moving so I just rolled over and went back to sleep. Thanks for sharing and keep up the good work brother.
Great video as usual ❤ Love it to see that you still wear the Greenland jacket. I bought the current version of this jacket due to your old review I've found a couple of month ago on your channel. Best winter jacket I've ever had! Would love to see more bushcraft content from you. 🙂
Ted Weirum just WOW! I'm absolutely amazed by how terrific this video turned out! Thank you for taking so much effort and care in producing something so wonderful. It speaks to your talent, dedication and skill. You are truly extraordinary person!
Great video Ted, well done! Keep them coming, I need things to watch as I'm out with a torn rotator cuff in my shoulder from a Nordic Skiing accident of all things haha happy to report there was no beer involved though, just caught an edge and went down hard on some icy packed snow.
Thanks Travis, I wanted to comfort team toilet paper before I mentioned anything about beer in this video, I'm pretty sure it would go viral if I just added " and a beer" to the end of the title :) hope you get better soon brother, if we ever meet I promise you we'll have a beer of your choice!
It would be awesome to see this style of video with other kinds of knives or tools. Like just a shovel or axe or large camp knife. Just subbed. Cool video!
The hunter gatherers when they made their tree tents, they also dug into the ground below the frost line. I saw a real one once. I was a kid. It seemed to be huge. Above ground lodges also existed. For what you did here, that is the best time of the year for it.
Great vid mate, loving the beard !! I'm going to be starting up my channel again I think. Love that Kansbol, may have to get myself one. I've just got a pair of the keb agile which I'm looking forward to reviewing.
I just got a Garberg last month $55 couldn’t beat it. Man it’s a great knife. Nice video proves what I was taught the more you know the less you need. I like these types of videos. The thing is I don’t go in the woods without a little gear especially when I go fishing. I always have a water bottle and a few odds and ends. Practice makes you stronger when you need to be.
3:13 reminds me to tell you about the "pocket bellows". It will revolutionize your ability to make fire in the wilderness, especially under soaking wet conditions. Obviously in this minimalist scenario, you'd be without it. My Kansbol is the regular orange edition. Limited edition red is nice!
Another level of calming videos - Thank you Ted! I wouldn´t have slept a second because I would have been afraid to set the forest on fire :D (Probably not a realistic szenario but anyways...)
Ha. You beat me to it. I was going to say that's your Greenland Jacket with the broken zipper. I remember that video. What a nice quiet night. I have not slept without a tent before. I may try it one night and see what the experience it like. I do love my Mora Knife. I've used it many times and the thing is a beast. The urine not something I have had to do. I hope I'm not in that position but at least I'm aware I could if needed. Maybe next time, you could cook up some fresh road kill? Peace.
me too, I had so much fun doin this! I'd say that it took around 2 hours with gathering and building and all that, it might have take me a while longer due to filming but all in all I thought it went pretty quick!
Great video, beautifully shot again! Less "flashy", more "down to earthy" (even literally 🙂). Did keep warm enough by the fire and shelter? Woke up many times?
yeah, this is definitely the type of videos I'd want to do more of! I was really warm all night actually! I only woke up one time too, that's because I only slept for 20 minutes! 🤪
I moved to Malmö from NL almost two years ago and one of the things I love here is the Swedish attitude towards enjoying nature. Your videos are a great example of that and I find them very inspiring. I love camping and I would like to try some overnight hikes this year. Eventually I would love to walk the Kungsleden but I think I should start a bit smaller. Do you have any recommendations for simple overnight hikes in Sweden? Perhaps Skåneleden? I absolutely love Söderåsen but I guess Skåne has more to offer. Also I'm wondering where to start in terms of gear. I have good outdoor clothes, but no tent and backback etc. Do you have any tips on where to start with this? Keep doing what you're doing!
Hey bother, I'd try the east part of Skåne as well, around Ravlunda, just make sure the military isn't there at the time, beautiful scenery and less crowded!
@@TedWeirum Sounds good! I have been in east Skåne only once, but it looked beautiful so would not mind going back. I am currently researching and assembling my backpacking gear. So perhaps I will see you on the trail!
@@TedWeirumGreat 👍, with best equipment and knowledge is it "easy". That is the point of winning the knife, and the knowlege will come with experience.
Good day Ted, thank you so much for sharing this video and the excellent knife you used. Could I be considered a recipient of your giveaway? I like going bushcraft in the wood, I long to have that kind of knife set up, blessings.
Estoy de acuerdo, pero si uno sólo tiene un cuchillo, también funcionará. Lo mismo con la barra de fuego, esto fue simplemente un ejemplo de lo que se puede hacer con menos. ¡Gracias por mirar hermano!
If me, I wouldn't choose Mora Kansbol or Mora 2000 (their last version) for trips where I need a reliable knife. Because its tang has a very deep grooves near the begin and many new Mora knives (kansbol, new 2000, new bushcraft, new basic 511, new pros) broke in this position. I would rather go with a Mora companion knife (not the HD version) with a mod spine 90° and feel more confident.
@@TedWeirum I don't like the new improvements of Mora knives (in the tang of many modele hidden tang). Even their new robust knife has this weakness. Mora company know this, but I think they made deep grooves on the tang for easier to set up when heat treating multiple knives at the same time. Moreover, for the many new plastic handles models , there are joints between the blade and the handle. So the water and dirt can penetrate the tang, in the long term it is not good. P/s: Hultafort knives would be a better choice (for cheaps hidden tang knives).
@TedWeirum dream scenario would be a completely unprepared night in the outdoors, As if you were hiding on the run. Had no place to go and no help from anyone.
I’m extremely disappointed with my vidda pro trousers all 3 pairs. My dark olive have holes everywhere after 18 months use I wasn’t aware of the 2 year warranty and I’ve lost receipt so can’t do anything about it. Also my ex British army trousers at £15 per pair are nearly 8 years old with no holes both the German and the British trousers have been worn nearly all the time compared to the fjallravens. On a happier note my orange kansbol is great. Hope mora bring the red kansbol to the uk soon. 🙏🏴
@@TedWeirum I’m in the uk and I wear them several times per week generally just for walking and foraging I sit on a sit mat sometimes with a groundsheet. Do occasionally wild camp but most of the time they have been used just for paths and trails locally.

@@TedWeirum I doubt they’ll do anything because there out of warranty. But I am extremely annoyed and dissatisfied especially at this price point. Anytime brother! I’m thinking that it could be a good idea to write them anyway, just to show the wear and tear points of your trousers, providing them with detailed knowledge of how you used them. That could generate important information on how to improve the trousers, I think that could be worth a new pair.. :) good luck brother!
