- A really exciting vlog for you guys! Xc schooling with dad!! And he’s riding Kato!
He’s only jumped Kato once before this and has only ever hacked him so he threw him in the deep end but he absolutely smashed it! Kato was a superstar and looked after dad just a little bit excited to be back out on a xc course as he hadn’t been out xc in about 4 months!!!
I hope you guys enjoy this vlog and keep an eye out for the pairs hunter trial vlog that dad and I did together!

I’m just getting over Covid, too. I took the antiviral meds, which really helped. I hope you’re better. I’m in Central Ohio, USA. I managed to avoid getting it until my husband came home from work one day with it. You really can’t avoid it. But it is a very nasty virus compared to others that I have had. My temperature got higher than it has since I was a little kid.

Kato is such a good horse - he flies around a 2* star course with Ashley but he looks after Dad when he's riding him too! Is Kato still for sale? Well done Steve - I'm impressed and I reckon Ashley is really proud of you! Looking forward to the Pairs at the Hunter Trial.

So lucky to get to do this with your pops! I wonder if Kato would be more responsive and not so strong if Dad kept his knuckles maybe on Kato's neck? Seems like they are both pulling against each other. But then again, I'm not there, and I do know the nerve racking feeling of a strong horse that you cannot stop! Also, it is hard when they are trailing another horse and want to catch up and stay with their buddy! Anyways, well done, what a fun outing on a gorgeous day, can't wait to see pairs hunter trial vlog!

I so enjoyed this vlog, what absolute superstars Zeb and Kato are. Take my hat off to your dad Ashley, sticking with a strong Kato, fair play, and Kato such a good lad for looking after him. I can't lie, all the horses are mega, but Kato is just magnificent both to watch jumping and for his handsomeness. Zeb as ever, superb, he did make me laugh with ears back and looking fierce when Kato was too close, sort of like, get lost! Love your vlogs Ashley simply one of the most enjoyable on here, fun, educational and great quality, thank you.

I think Harry does so well, Kato is a very different horse to Daisy and he rode so well over the cross country and sitting the spooks. He will miss him when he is sold.

I am SO late to this video, so you probably won’t see this comment…. But I LOVED watching you and your dad enjoying riding together. How fun to be able to share your passion with a family member! I admit, I’m a bit jealous. When I was a kid and was first allowed to start taking riding lessons (my dad finally caved when I turned 8), my mom - who was in her mid 40’s at the time - started taking lessons too for awhile. She did very well for someone who only started learning how to ride so late in life; she even learned out to jump cross rails! So cute! We never got to lesson together, but luckily my younger sister and I did get to ride together. That was fun…. Sadly, my sister lost interest in riding a few years after she and I finally got our own horse and pony, and then she passed in an accident just a few years after that. 😰 After my father passed, I had the insane idea to buy my own 85 acre boarding and training facility, and I was so blessed that Mom went for it and we ran the farm together for many years. I DID get her to sit on my gentlest Dutch warmblood while I led her around, but I wish we could have done something like you and your dad did. But I’m grateful that Mom and I could share the farm (she had to retire years ago, but it was nice to share the experience with her, and the love of horses). I’m sure you realize how very lucky you are to have such an amazing supportive family, and to be able to do fun things like this with your dad. I hope you all have many more years of riding together!
