Good interview my parents came to cpt in late 60s before I was born and when I was a kid I heard a lot of stories from the og's I had homies from diff sets growing up I member a homie called g"man from carver park that rapped he was dope too and he was already rapping in 1987 he had music out too

Dad had a couple of Run in with the Compton pd coming out to the house pulling up the weed plants then arrested him took the weed plants down to the station all 10 of them they were amazed how big the buds were on plants dad said officer smoked up the evidence then they let him go charges was dropped. That's just one incident.
@ FG, I tried looking up that Jerome Edwards story, was Mayor Bradley saying that Jerome Edwards came off the street, snuck into the stadium went on the Washington Redskins sideline snatched a jersey and scored a touchdown on Monday Night Football, please collaborate that story and if true get that brother on your show. I never heard that, but I'm not from Cali. Secondly, safe to say Mayor Bradley was a Pirou, wonder what Mayor Bradley's opinion is of Reggie Wright Sr. as a Compton police officer, was he one of the few "good ones"!

This was an interesting interview & topic. I've always heard through interview's from brothas who were around during the 1970's, that the Grandees were the first to represent the Crip identity as far as, bringing it to Compton. I didn't know the Carver Parks already had the identity of Crip. Also the former mayor stated, that by getting rid of the Compton PD crime descalated. I didn't get what he meant by black police officers on the force however?
That’s one thing that has been heavily debated. I’ve seen interviews as well, Some say the Carvers were the 1st in Compton & some say it was the Grandee’s.
Carvers was originally part of Raymond Washington EastSide Crip umbrella in L.A …
But since Carver Park kids went to school in Compton, over the years they started pushing Compton Crip after the EastSide Crip faded away when Raymond Passed ….

The compton police force was mostly black and lived within community. But the county Sherrif department was majority white and lived outside the community.

This is a great interview fg and props to mayor Bradley for speaking on the origin of the Ru’s my only discrepancy with this is him saying he didn’t know they were forming into an actual gang . At that time like he said the crips were making their mark in each city and you had to stand your ground to hold your neighborhood down so that’s understandable but to say you were ready to snipe someone means we’re ready to put the brownie’s on and put some work in ,that’s essentially gang banging .
