I remember my childhood watching these Ag Cats crop dusting where I lived years ago. Rural areas where tractors had limited room to get around in the farmed fields. Seeing the Ag Cats at work are memories I will never forget. Just the sound of those radial engines is music to my ears. I loved the sharp rumble as they went over me. There were some days where I rode my bicycle just to see them. Sometimes I would get quite close to them going by.

Hi Mark. Great memories. Despite owning two Ag-Cats, I haven't seen one spraying for around 40 years! 😀

These are beautiful. I used to watch hallet griffins turbine agcat when I was a child back in the manawatu. When I grew up I did a bit of help with the maintenance of it in feilding. They look proper with the radial. Easily one of the prettiest aeroplanes made which is unusual for a agplane.

The first time I saw an Ag-Cat fly was also in the Manawatu - I pulled over to the side of State Highway One to watch one spraying crops north of Marton in the sunset. Its hard to believe after all these years that I am lucky enought to own and operate, not one, but two of them! 🙂

Would have like to know why there is a B model and if there is a difference in performance.

ZK-CAT is actually a bit of a hybrid. The B model has longer wings and they have a bigger tail (CAT still has the smaller tail). With longer wings, they have more lift and therefore get off the ground quicker than an A model if carrying the same weight. The B model could carry a heavier load. With the longer wings, roll rate is slower. Also, longer wings and greater wing area means the stall speed is slower and it can be landed at a slower speed.
