Tyson i notice that garrett prop turns ccw like the pt6, but does your other thrush turn cw ? my question is, when you jump into a cw turning prop, is it a challenge to use opposite rudder on take off and are the turns to the right easier ? thanks
-6’s turn the right way. -5’s and -10’s turn the wrong way. It’s not so much a challenge using the opposite rudder, as one must always give the aircraft the proper control inputs that it needs.

No, part 141 isn't required for crop dusting. We're not sure anything "requires" part 141? I suppose some employers could require 141 but you can do a lot through a 61 school.
500 gallons that's a lot of weight, couple tons worth. Curious if it'll haul a full load on a high density altitude day? As I recall way back in the day, my Dad's old sprayers had about 180 ish gallon hoppers, but they didn't have the big wings & engines in those days either.

I appreciate your adaptability to the Thrush over the “Cadillac” Air Tractor you’ve been used to. I believe it comes down to the pilot flying it and how well the maintenance is performed. You can obviously get the job done in a Thrush. I know there are Thrush haters out there for whatever reasons ( likely not by too many good ag pilots), and I’m personally partial to Air Tractors because they’re built here in Texas 🤠, but any of them will lose their wings if a load is dumped all at once and you pull up to fast. It comes down to knowing the aircraft and its limitations as well as its capabilities. I believe your Thrushes are in good hands Tyson!! You’re like a modern day WW2 fighter pilot in an ag plane! 😂😂 I look forward to your Stearman one day!
Just a quick note for anyone reading through the comments here. I think the wings falling off incident you're referring to are the viral gender reveal crash(es). Those are the Ipanema aircraft (I think made out of Brazil) and the wing spars time out. The result of the wings failing is likely due to maintenance neglect. That is extremely rare for Thrush or Air Tractors (when maintained properly, especially because we take our maintenance times very seriously in the US. Just wanted to clarify that because a lot of people who see those videos mistake them for Thrush or Air Tractor. Thanks as always for your comments, Rob!!
@@AgAviationAdventures You’re absolutely right. I apologize too for not stressing the maintenance part of the equation enough. I have seen two videos of a Thrush and a Pawnee though, both spraying when the wings failed. That’s why I mentioned maintenance and over loading the wings. But again, I didn’t stress the maintenance part enough. The spars do have a limit to how long they’re safe. The gender reveal was indeed a different aircraft and was mainly due to poor maintenance but also over loading the wings when the weight and balance changes so dramatically by dumping the load all at once and pulling straight up at the same time it increases the g factor quickly and can cause over stress to the wings. A newer, PROPERLY maintained aircraft will let you get away with it. One with cracked or fatigued spars won’t. The C-130 fire fighting aircraft that crashed a couple of years ago was exactly this scenario.

Yeah on hot, high density alt days it can be hard to haul the full 500 gallons but it also depends on the strip, fields, etc.
Love your videos here in my area we have crop dusters spraying for sugarcane lot of old ag cat Biplane and some air tractors keep the. Videos coming 👍

I don't think there's any scientific data to show that Thrushes or Air Tractors are wrecked more. It mostly comes down to the person flying them :)
