  • Cheap and kind Canadian Goose removal
One of the biggest problems we have at the lakes is goose droppings
Geese feces usually contain the parasites cryptosporidium, giardia, coliform, and campylobacter. Cryptosporidium poses the most serious health hazard since it causes cryptosporidiosis, an illness with the following symptoms: watery diarrhea. dehydration.
Over the past several decades, Canadian geese populations have been increasing in North America--as have their messy activities at many of our nation's waterside parks and playgrounds. Herbivores with very few predators, the birds like to take up residence near freshwater sources with fluffy, manicured grass, like a community green space
Over the years we have tried to get rid of them by using lights, neighbors would allow their dogs to run after them when the beach was closed yellow lights and fake owls. Nothing would work. The lifeguards would have to work for 1 hour to remove all the geese' feces from the lakefront. The water often would fail because of them.
In this video, I will explain how to get rid of them very cheaply.
    Materials
    Thin rods
    Green tape
    Silver pinwheels
Every 12 feet put the rod into the sand close to the water’s edge. Wrap the green tape around the sticks. Put the pinwheels on top of each stake.
We always have been very happy that the vandals have not been taking the pinwheels away at night
This is also a perfect video to show your students on Earth Day. Why do they think that the geese will not land on the beach. The reason for this humane method is they need to see a large landing area in order to set down.
This method will cost pennies and because the stakes are right next to the water's edge, they will not land. Goose poop is a huge problem to people trying to go to the beach and it is very hard to get lifeguards especially if they have to pick up goose droppings one hour a day.
