This is similar to the official XP Mode for Windows 7, not a theme.
Will this work on 8.1?
@@Dom-Likes-Therians-and-furries It should, but I haven't tested.
@@teknixstuff Thanks for the answer
THERES AN OFFICIAL XP MODE????
@@gaster2411 Yep. Microsoft made it for Windows 7 Pro, Enterprise, and Ultimate. Not many users could get it, and very few actually used it.
This is nice for those who want to run their old programs on their new pc and lack the knowledge on how to install a virtual machine. Great video!
Hi comeonwindows ima big fan!
Congrats on the 1K
Great videos, hope you blow up soon!
I thought you'd uploaded the v3 version but surprisingly this thing works with my ancient desktop PC that is 10 years older than me 😅
I can't wait. I remember using this.
Would this work with VirtualBox that I already have installed?
(On a side note, I'm amused by how the Windows XP setup portion used the Windows 2000 installer instead of the Windows XP installer during the second stage, but if I recall correctly, the official XP Mode installer was like that)
Yes, it will detect any existing installation of virtualbox, and as long as you are using VirtualBox 5 or newer, it will use that instead (if you have VirtualBox 4 or older a conflict may occur). Just make sure to uninstall XP mode before removing VirtualBox if you ever want to remove VBox. The reason it uses the Windows 2000 installer is because it displays progress better and has some actually useful instructions in case it freezes.
THANKS for this program and virtualbox I will be able to run XP programs
Very cool, was wondering if this could be done. Is there a version with Hyper-V?
It would be quite easy to adapt it for Hyper-V, however Hyper-V isn't included in Home editions of Windows, and Hyper-V frequently leads to issues especially with older guest OSes. Using VirtualBox (as my tool does) is usually better for this usecase.
@@teknixstuff Ah ok :)
From the bottom of my heart thank you.
Is there anyway to get a 32 bit XP system?? I need it for a POS im running and it will only run on the 32 bit
This is a really good tool. It makes installing a virtual machine really easy. Can you add a version selector on the installer? I don't wanna only use Windows XP with this. And also give the users a choice between 32 bit and 64 bit on the installer as well.
I might add that in a future update.
Great! Indeed I would like to run my favourite old games on XP... would that virtual XP able to support virtual CD/DVD drives/discs, to install those games from disc image?
Currently not, but instead you can just copy the contents of the disc into the shared folder.
@@teknixstuff thank you for the instant support!
just d9wnload virtualbox, this is a repackaged version of it with less features
@@ubahni Actually it has all the features of VirtualBox, just with a helpful automated installer so that you don't have to download and install XP yourself.
@@teknixstuff I made it, unfortunately the installation failed, moreover badly damaged the XP/VM - so the whole stuff uninstalled, no more options:(
Amazing, Tech Stuff!
I need this but with windows 7, instead of xp mode, a 7 mode for windows 10/11
virtualbox
Why VirtualBox rather than Hyper-V?
Also, running a PowerShell script straight from the intetnet is really unsafe.
Because Hyper-V isn't included on home versions of Windows. Also, all the powershell script does is download the setup and run it.
The image file 'C:\Users\****\AppData\Local\XPMode\XP.ISO' is inaccessible and is being ignored. Please select a different image file for the virtual DVD drive..
Any fix for this problem?
Edit: I checked, and by "inaccessible" it seems to mean the file doesn't exist at all... should I reinstall?
Yea try reinstalling it.
@@teknixstuff I did and now i get "Could not read from the boot medium! Please insert a bootable medium and reboot"
@@xamtastic Hmm. That's weird. It might help if you downloaded the ISO manually and put it in the right folder (get the ISO from archive.org/download/xpmodeimage/XP.iso )
@@teknixstuff I put XP.iso in C:\Users\****\AppData\Local\XPMode and I still get the same message I'll try reinstalling again
Awesome man!
can it connect to the internet?
Cant't wait
MAN I LOVE I LOVE YOU SO MUCH THANK U FOR UR WEBSITE
Please do with windows 7 32bit please
When I try downloading sp3, it'd tell me tht updatebr.inf is invalid, can you help, please? i want connectivity! :(
SP2 is the latest available for x64 edition, as included here. It includes most of the SP3 changes, but on a newer codebase. For the connectivity issues, you'll have to add a network card to XP Mode in the VirtualBox manager.
Is it supposed to have internet connectivity? Because it doesn't. I can't get it to work for internet browsing.
The problem is most likely that XP's included browser (Internet Explorer 6) is way too old to work on the modern web. I suggest you install a more modern browser, such as Supermium (chrome fork that works on XP), and try again.
@@teknixstuff No Internet
Try:
Checking the network cables, modem, and router
Reconnecting to Wi-Fi
Running WIndows Network Diagnostics
ERR_INTERNET_DISCONNECT
Can i upgrade this or no? to windows 7 32bit???
You cannot upgrade XP to 7, and you cannot upgrade any 64-bit version to 32-bit. Instead however, you can perform a clean/custom install. This will erase all data inside of XP mode though.
It so cool!
Wow, nice!
I cant unisntall revertplus v2 can you help me? When i run the command it doesnt do anything
Wait for v3. Installing and then removing v3 should clear up v2.
@@teknixstuff Uh might i ask for an aproximation in the progress of the project like when do you launch the v3 just asking
@@BJFPV It will be out on 4th May.
Wow!
dude the windows 7 one i tried broke my entire windows installation and i had to wipe my hard drive and start from scratch with a reinstall of windows
This isn't a theme. It's just like a normal program, but there's Windows XP inside it!
@@teknixstuff oh ok
wait, did Windows 7 have XP Mode?
Yep.
Yes, but only on Professional and Ultimate, not Home Premium nor Starter.
@@kbhasi Enterprise edition also had it. Also don't forget that Home Basic exists (although it doesn't have it)
Nice work!
Hello, can I connect an iPhone to the emulator?
No. Also, it is not an emulator, it is virtualized.
its a VM?
Yep.
wow this is cool can you make one for windows 7
You can just copy the files from a Windows 7 setup disc into XP mode and then upgrade it.
@@teknixstuff ofcourse but i already know vms this script is made for beginners right so it would be nice to have windows7 version
@@Win_7 I might make one in future, but for people who just want to have the W7 UI, there's Revert8Plus, which is a transformation pack I made that lets you put the Windows 7 theme and UI onto Windows 8, 8.1, 10, or 11.
i got an error that said it cant boot from the boot medium
same
Yo, how's revert8plus doing
It will be out in a couple of weeks.
Is there an XP Mode with XP 32 bit? Thank you
XP 64 bit should be able to run all your 32 bit apps. If you have trouble running your apps on 64 bit, I might add 32 bit support.
Well, I actually have a scanner Canon Lide 20, that has no drivers for x86 version of windows. I tried xp64 in vmware but nothing. This is the reason I asked for x86 XP mode. Thank you for your answer
@@teknixstuff I can't imagine anyone having a usecase for Windows XP at this point in time that doesn't support ancient 32 bit drivers. I highly suggest you default to Windows XP on 32 bit rather than 64 bit for this.

Still cool it's automated!
Microsoft's official XP Mode for Windows 7 was just a VM.
That true. I remember it on Windows 7@@teknixstuff
@@teknixstuff now make windows 7 mode lol
What about drivers?
Virtual Drivers are automatically installed for you.
@@teknixstuff Can I go GPU passthrough with this?
It seems like a more convenient VM than vbox and vmware
@@Randtiktok You may need to reboot XP into safe mode and then reinstall VBox additions (making sure to select the DirectX option) if you need DirectX support.
@@teknixstuff vbox addition?
@@Randtiktok Yes.
Is there a github page
No, but there's xp.teknixstuff.com
@@teknixstuff connection timeout 😂
@@teknixstuffbruh make it opensource so people can learn from it and even adapt it
It only oracle vm virtual box running Windows XP guest. Nothing special about that.
Yes, but it's automated, just like the official XP Mode for Windows 7.
🤓
Lol it's good to install windows xp on vm 😅
thats an vm
Yes, but it's an easy to set up VM.

can u make a script to downgrade from windows 10 to 8.1? my pc has been getting rlly slow, and i need windows 8aas fast as possible. but i dont have a product key
dont do that 8.1 is vulnerable to malware, just run a reinstall of win10 or install linux on it
@@ubahni Linux isn't good for my apps cus they don't have support, windows 8.1 has support for all my apps, windows 10 I have it but it's so f*cking terrible and laggy, and I have Norton 360 card to use it so it's ok. Trust me, if I didn't know these, I wouldn't have this comment at all
If you really want Windows 8.1, here are my tips for it:
You can get Windows 8.1 from tinyurl.com/embedblue. You can get updates on it until 2026 by using Bypass ESU Blue.
However, there is a better option instead of using 8.1. You can get Windows 10 LTSC 2021, which is an official edition that has no bloatware included.
You can get LTSC 2021 from tinyurl.com/2021ltsc. It will automatically get updates until 2032.
Whichever option you go with, I highly recommend NOT installing an antivirus, as they can case large slowdowns, and do very little for actual security.
You are better off either using the included Windows Defender, or just being careful before opening downloaded files.
Updates are not critical on either OS, as most of the flaws patched by Windows update are minor bugs that allow for an existing application to gain additional permissions, which you won't have to worry about unless you already have malware running. Any major bugs (such as remote code execution) would be in the news and would affect a massive percentage of computers around the world, but these are few and far between.
You also should make sure to back up your system drivers before doing a reinstall, or else you could be left with many components not being recognised.
Check your drivers support 8.1 also, as many do not.
@@teknixstuff does tnyurl have it activated? cus i cannot buy a product
