Because that’s supposed to be what a good female is like. A man makes mistakes but should be forgiven because he’s a man. The novels are the same, even if the husband is controlling and abssive.

Sooo he's the scumbag who's cheating but instead of reading him the riot act, she's taking the blame when breaking up with him and he's acting like a narcissist.
