Daily updates - projectmoneypits
loving this cayman series. cant wait for the update.
Frank Jaeger thanks buddy 🤙
Amazing work! Found you from Becky Evan’s channel.
Loving what you got planned for the Cayman, I’m hoping to do the same with a 987 too at some point. So finding your content extremely useful!
Keep up the good work! Look forward to seeing more updates on the Cayman! 👍
Looks like it will be a great build. I've just bought a cayman s myself (hopefully will arrive here next week) and I'm loving the videos you have done so far. Your humour is great :D
Hey 👋 that’s awesome man, hope you enjoy it 🙌 sadly lockdown has messed up the timeline on this build but hopefully things get back up and running soon 🤞 thanks for watching!
@@projectmoneypits5204 Friday it should be here. I haven't even seen the car yet. I'm in Australia and my state is headed back into lockdown due to a relatively massive spike in cases.
Have you looked at the work that TPC racing and bisimoto have done? I know TPC increased the capacity from 3.4 to 3.8 as well as lowering the compression to help with the boot pressures, they’re running around 600whp on a single turbo kit.
MEISHO yeeesss Bisimoto is the man 🙌 I did research into TPC, I’m super keen to do a twin turbo conversion as I think it will drive better (more linear plus more instantaneous power delivery), the gen 1 cayman block is probably the worst block to do it with 🤣 but we are going to give it a go 😁
Project Moneypits I’ve dropped Bruno a message expressing my interest, I’ll
Keep an eye on where your at with it but it’s where I’m wanting to go with mine, bisimoto had mentioned doing kits for ages but they’ve never materialised, I’d like 600whp and I’d be a happy camper 😄
Good videos, and interesting project. Keep at it!
John Wick thank you 🙏🏼 more to come 😊
Be sure to replace IMS while at it.... this warm my Porsche DIY heart ! You have done your homework properly
I died when i saw twilight... definitely my new favorite car youtuber
nate stowe dude! Thanks so much man appreciate the feedback 🙌
The editing is amaaaaazing!
Thanks so much for saying that, takes ages 🤣
New subscriber. Nice build and good luck.
When is the next vid gonna be out?
Mel P thanks so much for subscribing! Next video with this eve S coming very soon but my engine is stuck in Portugal with this virus so it’s all about the chassis and more parts that I have bought.
Hi, was there no need to replace the plenum? Or is that replaced as part of the turbo install.. I head mention of a custom manifold.
Is there any such thing as a cheap Porsche ? I think you're going to prove that there isn't, and we're all the better for it!! Love this project - keep the updates coming.
Andrew Radford the Porsche was dirt cheap...the parts are definitely not!!!
@@projectmoneypits5204 yeah......but if a jobs worth doing, do it the way you're doing it OR do it cheap and do it twice!
Where are you at in the build now? Hope Covid didn’t slow you down too much... give us an update.
Update coming very soon, COVID really did mess this up for me but we are getting there now! 🙏🏼
Too bad you didn't go with Hartech in the UK. The only really good/right way to rebuild those flawed cylinders. Putting iron liners in a thinned out aluminum cylinder is not really a good idea, as they have different expansion coefficients and different thermal conductivity. Plus Hartech could've gone up to 3.9 liters retaining full wall thickness. I am not affiliated with them, but I am currently building the same engine as a NA race engine with 3.8 liters and use LN engineering billet aluminum cylinders which is the variant they offer in the US.
The Cayman's Flying Through Space Is Hilarious :D
Love the Batman original soundtrack.👍
This is a really cool build. One question though. How do you baffle a dry sump?
Josh B with reference to what Bruno said, it a baffled sump not a dry sump, May be a deeper sump though but need to counteract the clearance issue for road use.
Cool build👍
Hi. Is there any easy checks for bore scoring i can do? i.e does the engine smoke on start up? There is a Cayman for sale locally so any advice would be great. Cheers, stay cool Rob
Black Van And Robin hi 👋 consistent smoke from start up is a sign (they tend to puff out a small bit of smoke on start up anyway but it should clear up immediately), using oil is a sign (check level on dash), if it has bad scoring you will hear a distinctive tapping onto of the signs above. Best just to get it checked out for peace of mind but hope that helps 🤙
@@projectmoneypits5204 thanks for that 👍
How can i do that with my same car
I could be wrong but I haven’t heard her talk about the crank shaft yet.. the crank shaft in the cayman s arnt really made to with stand a turbo, they are nitride coated and only about 0.20 Mm It’s not filling me with confidence this turbo build, I damaged my crank with a standard engine, ending up basically having to get a new engine. Also what bearings is she using because people spin bearings In these standard engines... sounds to me she needs to do more home work
joseph buckley why do you keep referring to me as ‘she’...I’m right here 🤣 don’t worry poppet, we have things covered.
Project Moneypits I have no idea what your name is, so I dunno what to call you lool I was gonna call you project moneypits but the name seemed abit too long and who would call there child that name 😂😂
Project Moneypits what’s happening to the turbo build
joseph buckley update video coming soon, lockdown has really fudged this up!! 😫
Project Moneypits still no sign of a video,, what’s going on??
I don’t have any fingers so I liked this with my toe and commented with my nose
Patrick Forsyth massively appreciated
How the porsche project is going ?
Lockdown kinda screwed everything up but back on track now and content will resume 😊
@@projectmoneypits5204 great !!! you +ur project are awesome !!!
btw do you know if basic cayman 987 is having same problems with cayman S models ?
Many thanks
Thanks man. Never heard of the 2.7 caymans suffering from scoring, it’s mostly the S models across the range of this generation.
What was done to the boxster.
Simon Kent big bore throttle body custom plenum, custom ram air intake & remap. Don’t think exhaust was done at that point.
I've owned 944T, 996TT 2X 986 and a 996C2. Currently looking for a 987 cayman to turbo myself but i will be putting the Audi 2.7 V6TT RS4 motor in it. Good luke with yours, I will be watching. Vowed to never own a M96/97 engined car ever again after the C2 went tits up!
Nice.
I'm assuming you bought Nickies and the IMS fix..... but just in case, don't forget those lol
Hell yeah 😎
Epic
I almost bought a nice nice cayman s 2012.. but alas i am too big for that car.
Every time I watch one of your videos, I only have one question: (me on one knee)...MoneyPits: will you please marry me?!?😍💍🏍💐🙏🏽💯🏎🔥💋
Haha thanks buddy but I have already been proposed to by an awesome guy that I plan on keeping around 🤙 but cheers for the ego boost 😆 I promise I won’t let it get to my head too much 😁🙌
What happened to this???!
Lockdown happened! Should be back on track in the next couple of weeks 🤞
You know what the score is. 🤣
Bikes 😈
Exactly 🤪
