After my brain and eyes were punished with useless information from.a couple of photography channels finally there is some medication. Simon never lets me down. Beautiful video and images. Thanks for sharing.
Brilliant video Simon the photo of the tree was an excellent composition. If I was to give it a name it would probably be the brave warrior still standing after battle with amazing character enjoyed the video thank you for sharing it
Woodlands there look soo much fascinating than what I have close by. Was funny watching the video and getting the Insta notification of a new photo at the same time 😂. Thanks for making this videos... is like a kick in the bum to search better locations. Cheers.
Beautiful Simon! So much character in those trees. Really found the first one connected with me. And the last one "Crawling" too. Thanks for sharing these special trees with us.
Through the chaos comes peace, from peace we gather ourselves and thoughts to make better who we are. Here on Argyll's Secret Coast we have the very best of the Atlantic rainforests. The mists, the twisted trees and wind blow along with moses and ferns... oh its midge heaven for sure but boy oh boy, the vistas we have have are for great times.
Came across similar oak trees in Exmoor, during a walking holiday. At the time I thought it was because of soil conditions and being near the sea air but could be a rainforest since it’s on the Atlantic side of Britain
This is an excellent video Simon, we are happy to have you back. Great compositions, what a great location. I think Meg was having a great time as well. Thank you very much for taking us along on your adventures.
Great seeing you two!! Loved the photos and video of course. Beautiful trees. I so enjoy hearing you talk about the composition Looking forward to the next one. Say Hi to Meg!!!
Hi Simon - What a forest and what a video . Photos are beautiful end I love the horizontal ones more than the vertical. Waiting for the next one I thank you very much and a caress to Meg ( as always)
A wonderful video as always Simon, you've inspired me to get out more on those sunny days that I tend to avoid in the woodland - loved all the images and loved the movement in some of them!
Fabulous, as usual Simon. Will be back scouting early october .... the atlantic rainforests have a lot more to offer and this autumn could be a good one. Looking forward to future episodes.
Great video Simon and nice to see you back out again. I really like your longer shutter speeds where you allow the leaves to ‘brush’ part of the canvas as a matter of speaking. My favorite photos today were Inner turmoil and Good vibrations, where you get that nice softness while still keeping parts of the image sharp. Looking forward to the next installment.
Thanks for sharing these inspiring images and words of advice, Simon. I could relate to something you said in the beginning. I've been trying for some time to photograph a grove of beech trees I discovered in my local woodland. The trees are incredibly stunted - probably quite old given their size - and so full of twisted, contorted character! Two of the trees even appear to be interlocking their long slender branches in a startlingly social gesture. Nevertheless, all my attempts so far (even during those rare favorable conditions like fog) have left me dissatisfied. For one, the really interesting shapes are up near the canopy which often introduce strong specular highlights when pointing my camera upward. Secondly, the trees are on a rather steep slope and all views I prefer seem to be looking up the slope which causes key-stoning and other weird perspectives. But perhaps the biggest problem is, as you say, my heightened EXPECTATIONS. I feel very attached to the trees because 1) they are a bit off the beaten path and it felt incredibly good to discover them, 2) I feel the urge to document their beauty because (to my knowledge at least) no one else has and 3) their strong immutable presence just resonates with me so much. I still go up there quite frequently (it's about a 10 min drive and 30 min hike from my apartment), so next time I will try, as you say, to turn away from the obvious and lower my expectations.
Many thanks! Glad you enjoyed it. I've been in this situation a few times and it often helps to leave them be, and concentrate your efforts elsewhere for a while. You can then return to them with fresh eyes and a new appreciation :).
Cheers Simon, it’s Sean in Atlanta! I love that first image that you named, “Respect“! It also looks like the younger trees are all reaching out to help the older one. That second image, “Outwardly Calm”, I also love because it’s got so much to focus on! And lastly, those images of that low canopied wood are spectacular, just spectacular and very magical! That woodland is going to be amazing in Autumn and Winter! It certainly was today! Sean
One man and his dog! In the woods with a camera….what’s not to like?..❤
Beautiful and I laughed when Meg ate the blackberry ❤️🙏😃
Imagine having boiling, contortion, vibrations, swaying, merging and clinging together in one video. Thank you, Simon, for sharing.
Well done Simon 👍🏻
Respect is beautiful

Hey Adam! Thank you!
I love the inner turmoil photo. Reminds me of an oil painting
Superb video as always simon
Hi thanks.
Really like “Inner Turmoil”

That first tree looked very much like it has an old lightning strike
OMG the "Crawling" Image is an absolute blinder 🥰📷👏🥰
Many thanks 😀
Tree Master!

Enchanted, indeed ... what a lovely place 🙏 Thanks for your videos 👍
My pleasure 😊
What an absolutely stunning location! I'd be spoiled for choice there.
Am I the only one who thought it was Thomas Heaton speaking at 7:36? :D
Great seeing you two!! Loved the photos and video of course. Beautiful trees. I so enjoy hearing you talk about the composition Looking forward to the next one. Say Hi to Meg!!!
Thank you very much Karen 😀
That 1st image had elements of "scream" to me Simon?

Always much appreciated, Enrico 😀
Beautiful images 😊👍
That looks a lot like some areas in Madeira island, Simon. Those twisted trees with mould on the rocks, the steep slopes and the bracken everywhere.
A wonderful video as always Simon, you've inspired me to get out more on those sunny days that I tend to avoid in the woodland - loved all the images and loved the movement in some of them!
What a beautiful woodland, excellent work and love your style of photography!
Thank you very much!

A wonderful video, Simon 🙌🏻 Took me to a really relaxing and mindful place 🙏🏻
Many thanks, Martin! 😀
Is this back in Scotland? The only reason i ask is you didn't seem to be bothered by the dreaded midges..!
Did anyone spot the small crawling Groot creature at 10:19 ? 😄
If only I knew what on earth a Groot is. 😃
Do you have to worry about ticks in that thick underbrush as we would have to in the USA?
Yes we do. Having said that, they didn't seem to be as many as I'd typically expect.
@@SimonBaxterPhotography they are extremely bad here in the Midwest this year
Yup ..... I've had Lyme Disease twice on trips with Mr B..... 😀😀
