“Put the right people in”. Mmmmmh, the objective of gerrymandering is that you cannot put the right people in.
AIPAC do everything they can to block the right people.
Yes and no. It's designed to limit the power of who you can put in but someone still goes in and they still DO get a plurality of the votes. So, while the game is harder, it's not unwinnable if you have enough people on your side to change the system. But it's going to take some true bipartisan power to do it. Or at the very least a coalition of the willing that extends beyond one party.
The truth is the country isn't functional without either two parties who can agree on something or one party + a lot of independents who can agree on something. Ie. The battles have to be picked carefully and the alliances built brick-by-brick with other groups. Maybe after some of those smaller alliances are successful it can help bridge some of the divides but that will take time (decades).

Unfortunately in this country it's a money making machine. The amount of money these candidates spend on ads is astronomical! The political system here is so darn complicated. The person who gets the most vote in the presidential election unfortunately doesn't always win. The electoral college needs to be dismantled imo.

I'm an independent, and the way she doesn't seem to know much about Biden's accomplishments is even more disappointing than when democrats don't know because Dems step in line too. I expect most of my fellow independents to be keen on bipartisanship by this point, and Biden's been good at keeping his policies down the moderate middle.

I got diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer in early 2020, as in "Happy New Year, you have cancer!" My husband and I commonly joke that Trump gave me cancer, but in truth I was angry at that monster for 4 years like I've never been angry at anyone ever before or since, and it took a toll on my health. Never give anybody that much power over you. It's okay to say his name while he has no power over any of us. I'm more afraid of his voters than I am of him. His voters, however, side with a proud r@pist who loves bragging about hurting women, then he cries about it when those women come forward to say he's telling the truth. The people who LOVE him scare me more than anything.

As an independent, it sometimes makes me cringe when Sara says she's an independent. I like Joe for his bipartisanship. I hate how Trump turned the office into a red/blue state thing. I want more of our politicians to quit campaigning and start WORKING once elected. Sara just can't get that into her head, like she has to choose sides. We should be looking for bipartisan candidates, not just right vs left. I look to independents to lead us there, and she falls sadly short all too often failing to see the wealth of bipartisanship we've had since Joe took office. He can't get much more moderate than he's been without altogether changing parties.
Sonny is wrong I don’t think we need to have the party “fall in line” they need to earn the vote of the people. Most of the elections lost federally weren’t due to democrats not falling in line it was the democratic candidate not inspiring those voters who didn’t show up. You get them to show up with good ideas and ways to actually get them across the line not false promises.
I think she means in term of legislation. When democrats have power they don’t take advantage either because some democrats go rogue or some are obsessed with making laws bipartisan. Republicans are pretty much always on the same page in terms of what laws they want to pass.
"Putting the right people in" is not SIMPLE because different folks have different concepts of what is "right"
