thanks for the video! very informative, i learned about the "seasoning" the hard way too, all i do now is just warm water and a plastic brush... NO SOAP!!! way to go iceguy!
The goal is to leave just a thin coating. If there is build up & you are cooking out side it could attract things you do not want. If after wiping it down it feels a little "slimely" run it under very hot water & scrub only with plastic scouring pad or cloth. Just don't use anything metal or soap unless you are looking to reseason.

Yeah, some of us just learn the hard way. I glad I can back to cast iron somehow it just taste beter than with my other skillets.

I clean my cast iron with salt, might sound weird but it cleans the surface and leaves the seasoning. put in some salt and wipe out with paper towel.
Just wondering, doesn't the grease left on the cast iron attract ants or bugs?
