La Bella flats for string-through-body Mustang basses are the best! Tone is killer, and your frets will thank you.
I have the same CIJ bass.
Did you ever have trouble with hum?
@@realbealNo, no hum.
Nice information, thanks. Keep up the great videos!
Thanks so much. I would live to hear any video ideas you have!
I agree that changing them one at a time is the way to go. I just discovered you channel today - Nice videos! I've been playing just a little longer than you, by the way. I started way back in 1979.
Good video. I always change one at a time also. A string winder speeds up the process. Also after you stretch the strings tune the bass and repeat several times. Also grind a pencil with something like a nail file and put the powdered shavings in the nut slots, This helps prevent string slippage.
Oh, I didn't know about the pencil. Great information!
This should be easy-Changing Bass Strings Should Be Interesting-This is a learning experience
Yah! I do it so infrequently, I have to learn it over again every time!
The Chrome XL flatwounds are the only strings I use on all my basses. Long and short scale. I love these. The sound and feel you get with these are so good. I hope you'll be happy with yours. I am and I can't recomend them enough.
That is good to know. What is different about the sound?
@@realbeal It's so round and full yet it got good clarity. Like a modern 60s sound. And the feel of the touch on the strings is so good. Not like the gritty sound you get with roundwounds. But that's just me.
You need a bigger wire cutting tool. I have the same bass and put flats on it immediately (Medium scale length pack for string through body).
That's what I get for sneaking into the garage and stealing the tool istead of asking for a good one!
I change strings one at a time too :)
Oh, good. I think it is better for the neck.
Thanks much! I’m thinking about buying that Bass. Stew Mac has a tool that allows for truss rod adjustment without having to remove the neck. So short scale strings work on that model??😎
No, I use medium lengh strings since the strings go through the body.

I thought it was normal to change your strings slowly and 1 at a time? I treat my bass like a dang baby when I change the strings, like I'm changing its' diaper I clean it and I'm gentle 😂
Me too! It's my baby!
