I cannot get over how well behaved the motorists are, I was part of a team cleaning up some invasive weeds in rural Australia years ago and no amount of signage would get people to slow down, this was back in the early 2000s..
@The Truth Mexico isn’t a developed country but it is close to a developed one, even though the president loves his country, I’m sure that’s why the country is upgrading.
In Australia, this task would require 2 more vehicles and 4 more crew, doing nothing but traffic control, because our drivers are stupid and don't drive safely at roadworks. Nice to see that modern "basic" road safety systems are all that are needed, when drivers are sensible. Truck mounted attenuator, some flashing lights, and some brains. Although I would add about 4 traffic cones to the scene, directly behind their line of work. Nice work gentlemen.
These are very skilled men and with a simple safe operation. In UK they could have coned off THE WHOLE ROAD - contraflow - 40 vehicles there and EVERYONE sat in the tea wagon smoking or doing nothing. The number of times we drive past MILES of closed motorway without ONE PERSON doing any work? WELL DONE SWEDISH ROAD WORKERS.
In the UK the road would have been closed off 2 days before then a team of workers over the next 5 days and then 10 days to dry,, then 6 months later the cones would have been collected
Fantastic work! But there is one thing that I do not understand: They always hurry to get the powder on the fresh painted lines and arrows, which actually means that the material is still warm and viscous. But at the same time, they can roll over a fresh line without damaging it before it is powdered. For example 10:40. How is that possible?
In California, we usually use 4 inches for the streets, but for the freeways, it is 6 inches. Both of them have that are called road studs. It is uncommon in most countries to have road studs, except for certain situations involving improving visibility and safety.
We can't have those in Sweden because we have snow and the snowplows would destroy them We have reflective road markings (that's the powder they are applying) and small poles with reflective circles on them next to the roads.
Can the material scraped out of the applicator be reheated and used ? Thank you for letting us watch you work. Obviously, you are very good at your job.
On the truck with the flashing arrows, what is the large flat box that raises and lowers? (I saw them raise it in a previous vid). Thank you, very interesting job!
The (yellow boxes) at the end of each trucks are products made by the Belgium based company Stuer-Egghe (one of the world's market leader company for anti-crash in traffic so that a possible collision occurs smoothly). Watch this video, visit: www.stuer-egghe.be/ and you can also see this video ua-cam.com/video/ILuS-Gb4EIo/v-deo.html
Thank you so much for your response! I did suspect that but was not sure. That video link was really interesting. Thank you again from Pennsylvania (USA) for the quick response.
Not to be a PC correct greenie or anything but.. what does these lines consist of? Are they environmentally friendly (as they wear out, it must spill out into nature eventually)?
Melted plastic. Says it in the video title. Nope, not environmentally friendly, because its plastic, and yes it will end up back in nature eventually as it erodes away, just like the rubber on car tyres all ends up back in the environment :-)
Richard Wraith Not saying your wrong in this case, but there are environmentally safe plastics. Some are corn based.. Regardless the lines need painting... I suspect actual paint that would hold up is probably worse than the plastic.
I really like those 2 applicators that look like 8" and 18" , very maneuverable and simple, I can't find any info about that type of tool. do you know the brand or manufacturer, I'd like to use these instead of the full machines marketed here in the US?
Who makes the thermo applicators? In the US we use handliner carts (like Apollo) or self propelled buggies (minimac 400). I can see some situations where the tools used in the video would be really handy. Not sure if they would meet our specs though as I think the bead applicator needs to be part of the thermoplastic applicator. Great video. Good to see how striping work is done in other places. =
That and any DOT violations. Lane closures require message boards a mile back, cones, barrels for night work, crash trucks even if you're doing a small turn lane, ect, etc. But those little hand liners are cool.
Yes. The product is made by the Belgium based company Stuer-Egghe, one of the world's market leader company for anti-crash in trafic (so that a possible collision occurs smoothly). Watch this video and visit www.stuer-egghe.be/producten/botsabsorbeerders/crashtesten/
If i remember right it's a weight, in case you are working for long periods of time you may want to leave it there for a while, but you wont need to leave the car overnight, on the highway for example.
In NZ. We need hundreds of cones twice as many trucks. Limited speed zones and are so anal, I'm sure we forget the road markings. Good to see a few workers doing a lot of work.
Gör man det på samma sätt på vintern om vägmarkeringarna behövs målas om eller det kanske inte görs på vintern alls? Bara på sommaren kanske? So other people understand: Is this performed during winter too or only summer? Sorry everyone for swedish... should've written in english in the first place but oh well.
Could someone put subtitles in english to understand what they are talking (for example in 11:15 or 18:39)? 03:28 - What is second guy pouring on street after painting by first guy?
The second layer is glass powder (%85) for reflection purpose in combination with sand (15%) to make the surface became har quicker. Regarding the translation, in the conversation is mostly about "What are you guys going to do with the rest of the HotMix and Thermoplastic material"? And they answered, "We are going to pour it back in the oven again (at the back of the truck, 1:23) and reuse them, as long as the material are not so dirty/contaminated, (which they are at 11:15) but clean and can be reused at 18:39.
RicoGalassi I would assume because the powder would get covered by the thermoplastic (paint) and the glass/sand mixture wouldn't be reflective which would defeat the overall purpose of the powder.
Желаю вам, друзья, насладиться полноценным отдыхом!!! Пусть выходные пройдут так, как вы себе желаете!!

a officer once every so often in between those road blocks and fines 3x higher then in a normal situation will do the trick
i don't no why i'm watching this but daym is relaxing to watch other people work
Great job, thanks.
In Mexico we paint it with normal white paint and it lasts 1 month. The goverment takes 3 years to re-paint the lines again.
I think the same my friend, jajaja
In argentina they stop doing it.
They should do it more often so the roads can look prettier
@The Truth Mexico isn’t a developed country but it is close to a developed one, even though the president loves his country, I’m sure that’s why the country is upgrading.
Same thing in Algeria

No different New Zealand mate,Nanny state and Taxing the shit out of everyone....Yay.....
Well in South Africa you would even need the military
Well, at least they do it. Believe me, you don't want to hear about Mexico.
In the USA they would close the road and take years to do it lazy people
I remember linemarking back in the day no TMA just a ute to keep cars off the thermo lol These days drivers cant be trusted
Beyond satisfying

WELL DONE SWEDISH ROAD WORKERS.
Great workmanship 👍🏻
Great Job indeed, Used same Thermoplastic paint in Zimbabwe had challenges with applying it on special marking such as arrows.Great Job indeed.
I think it will be easier to use stencils, it's faster and more efficient
Very cool!
True craftsmanship, this is amazing work
Quite relaxing to watch
Great job looks like super clean work guys!
Lot of sloppy work. I reported them to their supervisor.
@@jasonatkins6111 That's not what I seen.
Jason Atkins you cant do this job so shut up
great job guys
They did excellent work
I like how you have that metal board with handles on it so the helper doesn’t have to bend over to cut the edges of the arrows

masterpiece real art making arrows
It’s like one of those whiteout corrective ribbons but for pavement. Brilliant!
det är så snyggt gjort. rena konstverket o måla linjer. rakt o fint o inget spill. bra jobbat grabbar.
I can't believe they are wearing shorts whilst working with 200 degree thermoplastic!!
Great job
I don’t know why but I like this video
You are not alone :-)
Very very cool
In my country this same work is done by a gov funding of multi millions budget project . Nice to see only 2 guys doing it
Which country?

That powder is a combination of glass (~80%) and sand and is used for reflection purpose.
So, the scraped material was put in that glass and sand mixture or was it different?
Thank you for sharing this tutorial. Very detailed. Just missing the subtitles.

Wow 😮
The road markings are 3D hence they look skewed to us. They make more sense to the drivers when they are a few feet away from them.
No matter what, this really satisfy me.
Very good
great swedistan ❤❤
man i wish road workers over here could do this with such a small team and hardly any road closures like this. would get the job done 75% quicker
Where do you live?
Public transportation and carpool Depression is unhealthy ❤
WOW THIS IS VERY INTERESTING THOSE ARROWS ARE REALLY THIN COMPARED TO OTHER ONES AND IF YOUR WONDERING WHY IM YELLING ITS BECAUSE OF THE TITTLE

scared me with headphones lol
The horn was to warn camera man so that he dont go out in front of the truck.
Its quik but in OZ we lay them down as cut out arrows and melt down look perfect when finished beads need to go on quicker too
That's teamwork

Nice work mates..
First painting device in the world that doesn't drip paint between dispensing.

Yes, stating 20:21 you can see this process (scraped and old material gathers together) ready to be put back into the hot oven 1:19 for reuse.
That feeling when you get it on your skin and you have to wait for it to cool down.
This video is asmr-ish especially when the paint thing drags like at 3:34

wtf im doing with my life watching a guy pinting lines...
Whaaaat
franco ahumada fascinating, ain't it ? 😦👍😄
In my country, they don't care the road lines. I have to complain to fix it up
In Greece there are no lines in the road

Here's some of that stuff described.
IN THE UK, this just would not happen, if it wears out, drivers are supposed to remember where they were until the whole road gets re-done !!!
Even though this was done in Sweden I have always wondered how this stuff was laid down on the roads today :)
Ha. They repaint their roads more than us. In the UK you're lucky to see the important road markings.

Ketabedanesh I think he means those buckets with a wheel on that they fill with paint and use to paint with.

One junction and not a pot hole in sight. Roads done propper
that's cool!
In the UK, Our liners (road markers) dont give a crap about TM. They will just start painting a road junction and let the cars handle themselves lol.
Kids, run up and put your hand print in it!
Good
what is this white powder stuff that they use after paint ? what's it for ? thanks for the video :)
It is glass beads/powder (%85) for reflection purpose in combination with sand (15%) to make the surface became hard quicker.
@@MasterWorkers hhmm thanks :)
In USA ..these two will be working while 9 workers will be standing around watching them.
The one job where you can’t paint outside the lines :-)
Here in Uruguay the roads are pothole over pothole and the govt paints over them
Govt send 10 people to do the job and only 2 or 3 are the ones who actually work, the others just stand right there drinking mate and using the phone
Excelente video, donde se pueden comprar esos carritos para pintar?
That's different from the U.S. because they use the MUTCD, whereas most countries have their own under the Vienna convention.
👍👍👍

MrBusDrivr yup slicker than ice when wet.
they put sand on top, to get better grip
@@mrThoreKarlsson no they put down glass beads for retroreflectivity
@@jomloft1 Yes that to

Why don't they mix in the reflective powder in the giant paint mixer before it's painted down and dried?
RicoGalassi I would assume because the powder would get covered by the thermoplastic (paint) and the glass/sand mixture wouldn't be reflective which would defeat the overall purpose of the powder.
grew up in Nyc used to skate allot and , used to love the thick lines with the reflective shit mixed into it
sooo smoooooth
Pretty sure this is living proof that people don’t even walk straight lines sober.
8:37 does it scrape off so easily or did they spray the metal with something
Oil
Im willing to bet my life that those glass beads arent sticking the dudes putting beads minutes after 😂
Isnt it more convinient to pull this thing by going backwards rather than pushing it in front of you
No, because you may not get full control over finish lines. The tools are also designed for being used "forwards".
crude looking arrows painting on the road
Whats the material that they spill before painting
