Y'know, a 10 hour track of bicycle wheels on wet tarmac (with soft piano and rain background) would see me into a nice deep slumber. Peaceful.

Yes and sadly some have lost their lives too. Thankfully that's well to the west of me at the moment.

Awesome! At least the testament was nice an dry. Those hills to the south look daunting. I guess we'll find out in the next couple of episodes how you and Trinny fared along the narrowing part of the Rhine valley. Keep on rolling!

Lovely weather 🦆Are you finding it easy to get a pitch, or a hotel room without booking ahead. At least you weren't cycling near the road, getting sprayed by passing traffic (happy thought for today)
The trick with camping is leave early and then arrive at the next one early... they always have spaces early in the day 😉
Hotels/hostels I just use booking.com and look for something inexpensive 🤷♂️
No worries about the tough video conditions. I definitely enjoy seeing what you are seeing as opposed to watching you talk. No offense intended but getting to experience some of what you are seeing is what i like. I think you have a pretty even amount of each. I hope your weather gets better for the ride. Nothing worse than spending days riding in the rain.
I appreciate that. Others have previously asked for the forward view rather than my face so I try to bare that in mind.
Though of course I have to show myself occasionally if only to prove its actually me doing the riding 🤣
Guten Morgan - It's been nice and warm here mate, bit breezy though...lol. Garstang today, 40km? about that. Knees hurt, shoulders ache, feet hot, head hot and bitten t' buggery! Where tomorrow? Slaidburn I think over the Trough from me. I have some butterfly bars I should get around to adding.
Ugh! I got eaten alive today too. Hate 'em 😡
Hiya Tim: Had the same experience with Tannus tires on my Scorpion last year: initially great being able to willingly ride over broken glass, etc. , but then got that nagging feeling of not being able to freewheel very far so I decided that the rolling resistance was too high and undertook the rather onerous task of removing them in one piece then replacing the original Schwalbe Marathons. No objective data, but it certainly feels like I can coast further and faster(similarly to the road bikes always passing me!)
Anecdotal story from me ... I completed the same ride twice. Once on tannus and once on the marathons. Over a distance of 40+ miles I had to replace my e-assist battery with the tannus before I got home but not with the marathons 🤷♂️
I can confirm also that they're not easy to get off your rims 😬

What a bummer. I find when it is raining I get wetter on the trike than on a normal bicycle.
I admire you still can make some jokes about your situation. I hope you had the worse by now and it only gets better from now on.
The original tires on my ICE sprint were Schwalbe Tryker. They are good but I found they where very vulnerable for punctures (especialy the sidewalls). So I replaced them with a Schwalbe 365 in the back for better grip on slippery surfaces (grass and mud) and Schwalbe marathon in the front. They are heavier and not so easy to get on the rim, but so far I haven't had any issues with them.

Yes, I get soaked through much quicker and more thoroughly on a trike, why is that I wonder.

They might be an improvement, but marathon tires, although of good quality for longer touring, (except for the racer version) are definitely not fast because of relatively high rolling resistance. For 20 en 26 inch better options are available, like panaracer or continental contact.
I can't argue that point. There are definitely faster tyres out there. But compared to the Tanus... I'll take the marathons any day. I tried Kojaks last year. I enjoyed them but wanted the additional puncture resistance for the tour.
@@TimsTrikeTrips Indeed, Kojaks are nice, but risk of puncture is to high for a trip like this. Marathon is a safe and reasonable choice, but in my experience not exactly the sweet spot between low resistance and puncture risk. Last year we cycled on panaracer pasela (559) with two wheel recumbents in a lot of rain in Scotland, and they did quite well, no punctures and definitely faster than marathons.
Well that was a short ride my friend. Rain can really wear on you, that's for sure. Even so, tours like this are an experience, both good and bad. Hopefully in years to come you'll look at the overall of this one fondly.

Yes, the 360 cam has its uses, but good sound isn't one of them. I too generally restrict using it to on the road shots with music sans dialogue. Are you still using the old Canon as your primary camera?

Yes the Canon still serves me quite well. Though it is the 2nd one I've owned. 👍
Thanks for the subtitles. That music got way to loud. I hope in future video's, you can keep the music to a decent level. Or not have it. Your video's don't need music.
