YO I noticed there’s been a lot of comments here asking where the inspiration for my Gaster design came from and I’d like to take a sec to explain why exactly he looks so different here from the widely accepted interpretation of him! While his overall design and particularly his face does in fact draw from multiple works of analog horror as some may have guessed (not to mention I’m a huge fan of the genre), there’s a bit more at play here as to why he looks so unsettling. This look for Gaster was heavily inspired by the phenomenon of forensic facial reconstruction - basically, whenever a person is unidentified and their face is in some way damaged to a point where it’s difficult to place what they even looked like in life to begin with, there’s a team of people who will “reconstruct” their face with the bits of information about that person they have. The thing is, at least for the most part, these reconstructions look very, very uncanny. In a lot of cases the reconstruction team makes the person’s features look eerily exaggerated and unrealistic, not because they’re bad at their job, but to accentuate the person’s most significant key features so that it’s more likely that someone who knows what happened will see the image and it’ll stick in their mind. This is why Gaster looks so jarring from his more “canon” design if such a thing exists. His features are purposefully warped and distorted, most notably the cracks, his long oval shaped head, and his mouth. Since he’s always shown to be smiling, I gave him weird teeth to really amplify that. I more-so based this design on what Gaster’s most memorable features are rather than being accurate. I thought this design choice would be very fitting given the circumstances of his disappearance and how shrouded in mystery he is, and for the record, this Gaster design isn’t based on any specific facial reconstruction, it’s more along the lines of drawing inspiration from the field in general. And by the looks of the people in the comments it looks like this guy has done a damn good job at getting under people’s skin sooooo… job well done on my part I guess??? LOL So yeah. There is a level of analog horror inspiration behind his uncanny look, but it goes a bit deeper than that. Just to clear things up :P

1:04 Honestly spamton had terrible “Friends” He deserved it because he tried hard for his work. Then abandoning him because he got popular was down right wrong, and the fact they can’t see that makes it worse.
"He deserved it because he tried hard for his work", I mean... Did he? He took a shortcut by making a 'deal with the devil', and in the long run... Such things never have happy endings. The support left. He continued trying & trying, but once again, he couldn't do it on his own. & now, we find him having to work hard every day just to survive, reduced to digging through trash & trying to make items to sell out of scraps, his twisted mind fogging his reality so he could barely comprehend what he was saying or doing... But he STILL never gave up. Kept trying to get to the basement & get the NEO body, his only chance of escape. I don’t think spamton went insane because gaster left him. My personal theory is that after a few months of talking to gaster spamton realised that gaster was literally controlling him( as in he realised that there were literal strings attached to him) and then tried to escape said control by cutting contact with gaster.( I’m going of the fact that there is a ringing phone in his shop and that it might be gaster trying to reach him) but this led to him ofc having nobody to help him and therefore going bankrupt. he probably realised that there was no way he could break his strings and I think he went mad trying to find a way to break out of gasters control.
I would love a dark, scary and horrifying spin off game where you play as all the people who were taken by Gaster. Also, I really hope Gaster looks like that in the game. It's amazing. It's so fucking mind fucking and terrifying...

We got so jalouis we stopped hanging out with him, i mean hé was a big shot now... Hé did not need us anymore.. right? Ooef... That's really emotionally painful to Hear
1:55 The fact that W.D. Gaster is responsible for twisting Spamton and Jevil's minds (or coding in this case) is very dark and creepy and makes me believe he's finally going to appear in the game at some point.
This is absolutely incredible! I'm at a loss for words, the voice fits so so so well and the cut offs are so unsettling, the way you drew gaster is absolutely straight up horrofying i love everything about this you did a great job capturing the atmosphere! Your artstyle fits it well too!
An idea I've had recently is, actually, what if the 'person' on the other end of the phone, as well as the thing that talked to Jevil, is 'The Player'. Toby's games, and especially episode 2, play a damn lot with the idea of The Player as a seperate entity, voicing their commands to the characters. Maybe through The Player, Jevil realised he is in a game, and through the actions of The Player, Spamton became a big shot. Then 'The Player' stopped playing, and Spamton lost their influence, through which his success decayed. As players of games, our goals are often to 'win' in games, so it makes sense that that is the influence a Player would have on Spamton. Also, we can't forget his words about strings and being a puppet towards Kris, in how they are similar in that regard. The strings are pulled by The Player.
I love this weird design for "The Knight", playing off the Mysterious Man from Undertale (that many including myself believe to be Gaster), however it's far enough from that to be different, in a way. It feels more... Natural for this odd being or person to not exactly BE what we may depict as Gaster, however it's not too farfetched to think that the being is at least some Deltarune-version of them. I love it! It's fucking disturbing, corrupted, and just super fucking original. There's so much personality to this whole comic too as a whole- I just love it all!
Not to spoil too much, but we know who the knight is now, so I think we can safely say who in the story we assume to be Gaster is not the same as The Knight.
I have hyperfixated on deltarune (again) and for some reason, I always and I mean ALWAYS gravitate towards the characters that have in some shape or form, interacted with Gaster. Not sure why, but I love Jevil and Spamton with all my heart. I've made an OC many friends of mine love that is inspired by Jevils design, I even made a small headcanon that my OC (His name is Peppy), is half-related to Jevil and will follow his footsteps into madness as time passes. This made me love Spamton even more than I already do though
to peppy, you are gaster in a ironic way. peppy is your puppet in this world, both kris and spamton would relate a lot because they are in the same condition. without you, peppy will drop and never get back up...until gaster takes control of peppy and becomes another secret boss.
it feels to me like once Spamton got help from 'mike', he left him like as if 'mike' was doing his part like they made a deal or somthing, and once 'mike' was done helping, Spamton had to pay his part of the deal...
I honestly thought this was by Martin Walls for a moment, because it just has that aesthetic... Of course, that's not to brush off that the artist did an INCREDIBLE job. ...I guess what gave me that impression was... ...Gaster's face. _EXTREMLY_ His face. _It unsettle me on a primal level._ *_...Specifically the Eyes._*
This got creepier as this went on then at the end I suddenly got chills down my spine and goosebumps This must've been what kris was feeling and whenever he checked his phone
I absolutely LOVE this edited version of his music. The sudden increases and decreases in speed just feel like they'd be a really good theme to throw you off.
i saw this via it being linked on the og comic on tumblr! An amazing comic and seeing in this format is even cooler! Definitely one of my favorite deltarune things!
It’s not confirmed to be gaster but the music is still fitting. Still I wonder who would even be responsible for that. Both Jevil and Spamton are referenced to having Met someone who helped them realize something or ‘their own potential’ or their goals. Theoretically that’s the Knight but the Knight is also confirmed to have spoken with the King and Queen. So then it must have to do with the sealed door then right? Where else could a mysterious lightener hell bent on destroying the world be
@@JunkedLowTep the chances of gaster being the final boss is slim to none. Knowing Toby's style of story and lore-building I think he'd rather keep gasters existence extremely minimal. Saying that gaster is the reason for %90 of anything in deltarune happens feels like reaching. People also seem to forget Toby is a memer and likes to subvert expectations, so it's probably not gaster (although mike's probably going to be some sort of influence in the story, whether it'd be that smile on the TV at the end of chapter 2 or as a secret boss, but that's just my guess)

0:33whats the name/source of this slowed down version of dialtone? It sounds very depressing and I like it.Could you perhaps upload the whole song?Great video!
I feel like Spamton’s story is more tragic than Jevil’s. Jevil went mad because he learned the world is a fake, a fraud. However Spamton was in the big league, on his high horse for so long, until suddenly nothing, and we meet him in a dumpster and his shop is near a bunch of trash. He went from a big shot, too just plain tragedy.

Yeah, he's only slightly comedic if you only see him on his obligatory encounter, his shop dialouge and picture are way, way worse

He simply was too ambitious for the world he was in: but I have to say he did one mistake. One fatal mistake.

Honestly spamton had terrible “Friends” He deserved it because he tried hard for his work. Then abandoning him because he got popular was down right wrong, and the fact they can’t see that makes it worse.
"He deserved it because he tried hard for his work", I mean... Did he? He took a shortcut by making a 'deal with the devil', and in the long run... Such things never have happy endings.
Not to sound like a christian or a capitalist or anything, but within the story the whole thing is that the person behind the calls was the one making him popular- not his own work.
@@BE-fw1lr They said he tried hard for a long time, but couldn't make sales no matter how desperate he got. He was most likely in poverty. Got to the point where he'd do anything to get clicks from the Lightners. So yeah, he put in TONS of effort... But like so many of us, hard work isn't always rewarded, you also need luck.
Sure, it became easy after he made the deal... But he only did it because nothing else was working. & then as we saw, when in his own words, he "tried to see too far", perhaps trying to find out how the system worked (in the theorized lyrics in "BIG SHOT", "Tell me what you're really selling!")...
Disguises, trying to hire the rebels, then taking any opportunity we provide with our actions (good or evil).
He was tenacious beyond the point that most people would've given up...

I don’t think spamton went insane because gaster left him. My personal theory is that after a few months of talking to gaster spamton realised that gaster was literally controlling him( as in he realised that there were literal strings attached to him) and then tried to escape said control by cutting contact with gaster.( I’m going of the fact that there is a ringing phone in his shop and that it might be gaster trying to reach him) but this led to him ofc having nobody to help him and therefore going bankrupt. he probably realised that there was no way he could break his strings and I think he went mad trying to find a way to break out of gasters control.

this is spot on incredible for a comic, the very Gaster we all know gives off that whole walten files feel, impressive
Atleast Walten files is scary, gaster is scary but also not
1:55 The fact that W.D.
There's so much personality to this whole comic too as a whole-
I just love it all!
Not to spoil too much, but we know who the knight is now, so I think we can safely say who in the story we assume to be Gaster is not the same as The Knight.
I'm sorry but the second chapter have pretty much already revealed that Kris is the Knight
I think you better change this before people start thinking that gaster, who may not even exist, is the knight.

You soon will found HIM and become insane...
to peppy, you are gaster in a ironic way.
peppy is your puppet in this world, both kris and spamton would relate a lot because they are in the same condition.
without you, peppy will drop and never get back up...until gaster takes control of peppy and becomes another secret boss.

@@JunkedLowTep the chances of gaster being the final boss is slim to none. Knowing Toby's style of story and lore-building I think he'd rather keep gasters existence extremely minimal. Saying that gaster is the reason for %90 of anything in deltarune happens feels like reaching. People also seem to forget Toby is a memer and likes to subvert expectations, so it's probably not gaster (although mike's probably going to be some sort of influence in the story, whether it'd be that smile on the TV at the end of chapter 2 or as a secret boss, but that's just my guess)
