Welcome back. Must say that your guides back in the days were very much appreciated, and was what I used to learn the game mechanics and various ships. Far better than the guides WG put out.
Good breakdown of the match. Congrats on your achievement, helluva first step. I never unsub'd hoping you'd come back, thanks, looking forward to your new approach to content.
one outta 30: or my current WR? Greetings and congratulations iChase, it's always nice to hear from a old friend/acquaintance. I made a living for decades as a designer for quite a while, a lot of it on CAD. I just saw the new Spanish cruisers and think they look Gaudi? Looking forward to to updated series, especially How to Play Cruisers nowadays.
I'm glad that you're including material on real-life ship design. I like the subject and have several of Norman Friedman's books. And I play WoWS a lot. Looking forward to your return to UA-cam.
Hell yeah. It's good to have you back. Things went a little crazy around here in the last few years. I can't tell you how much I'm looking forward to listening to you explaining ship design and flaws. I live for stuff like that. I'm an engineer (material science) but I have no clue about ships. And I love getting stuff explained and realising some of the principal challenges and how to overcome them. The Z not being able to reset the Mino probably wasn't all RNG. We still got the aiming bug where a lot of shell land short - especially near islands. It's super frustrating if you're in a situation were it really matters (like, you know, resetting a cap) and you can't get the damn ship to shoot where you actually aim. It's also frustrating that WG won't even consider implementing the most basic fixes for a lot of problems the game currently has: Like stopping carriers from spotting for the team (or at least reduce it to minimap-spotting as it is during a typhoon). Or actually making AA shoot something down instead of evenly spreading the damage over all planes in a flight. You could also go back to the mechanic were the spread of the attack was increased if you managed to go over a certain threshold of damage for a squadron. It would mitigate some of the damage of Nakhimov etc. And make subs slower. I can't even wrap my head around the idea we actually need to say this but going 40+ kts in a sub is the stupidest thing WG ever came up with. The whole sub spotting mechanic is also a joke: No proxy spot and hydro only spots them 2km away? You can hydro torps 4km away but the thing sending those torps is invisible?!? It just doesn't make any sense game-mechanic wise. All those solutions are right there. Instead they gave subs a 50% XP boost compared to any other class of ships so that even the worst player can feel like a king if he does 20k dmg and 30k spot. It's such a joke...
Thank you. Would love to find a way to stay in touch and get your expertise on material sciences. Especially since it plays such a major role in material selection for ships and that factors into overall design stuff. The number of weird bugs in game seems to be kind of mind boggling. I kept thinking these days I don't know how to aim anymore. I keep watching shells aimed at waterline go super high or super low. Very weird. WG is allergic to fixing stuff though hahaha
@@ichasegaming Sure. I actually studied material science with an emphasis on metals but work in NDT (mostly CT) of composite components now. Just ask if you have any questions. Gives me an excuse to read up on metals again 🙂

LCS_Little Crappy Ships. A great idea, but the individual modules like the ASW and Mine Sweeping modules never arrived, rendering the ships useless. I would love to hear your opinion on the new Constellation class frigates.
Yeah, gonna talk about the LCS first and then probably the Constellation class after. Although those ships are likely to go through a bunch of actual changes that people on the outside will never know about
LCS is also unfortunately designed for a unipolar world where US naval superiority is assumed. They are not meant for modern day great-power competitions. If the modules had arrived then there might still be hope for them, but alas we all know where that went.

yeah, the company that operated that sub actually came to my school to recruit interns for that expedition. if it wasn't for the fact that I had already booked my ticket and going home I would have most likely applied for an intern position on that ship that was carrying the submersible. Truly sad day :(
First, I want to say congrats on your accomplishment! Please don’t go back to the CC program like half those WG schills did. Sad how fake some people are and how some of them used LWM to gain popularity with supporting her then going back to the CC program with their tail tucked between their legs.

The good news is that graduate school work is a lot more FUN than undergrad...but it IS more work. There is a reason that MS stands for More of the Same...and PhD stands for Piled Higher and Deeper.
Normally, yes, undergrad is less work. In the case of my naval arch program, I will likely never have as much work as that program ever again. To put it simply, I had to individually start a ship from scratch and then complete approximately 2 turns of the design spiral, complete with all relevant calculations, drawings and at the same time have additional classes (scheduled for 6 courses per term which included the design courses). On top of this I picked one of the hardest ship types to design (cruise ship) and on top of that had to do ice strengthening because of my area of operations. So comparatively speaking, grad school won't be that bad lol.
As for the British Battlecruiser names: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/George_Rooke en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Edward_Hawke,_1st_Baron_Hawke They are named after people, and both should have silent e's at the end.
