Rohullah Nikpai wins first Afghanistan Olympic Medal at Beijing 2008 | Throwback Thursday

Afghanistan's Rohullah Nikpai had his Olympic debut at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing. The Teakwondo athlete claimed the Bronze Medal in the 58 kg category right away which was also the first medal ever for Afghanistan at Olympic Games! At the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, Rohullah entered the 68 kg category and claimed another Bronze Medal for his country.

As an Afghan I can tell you he paved the way for so many athletes that are successful today and he is considered as the living legend today.
Taekwondo was first introduced to Afghanistan in the 60’s by an African American Peace Corps volunteer. He started with a very small group of young school kids. That guy should be very proud.

I as an Indian went to see the Olympic Games with no hope from South Asia.
When India won the gold by Abhinav.I literally cried in the shooting arena.
But when Rohullah Nikpai won the medal I literally cried a lot for Afghan.
Afghans are really the nicest human being I have ever ever known.

We also should respect others opinions not everyone is going to like the same champion.
However, a champion is a champion, and therefore like him or dislike him he must be honoured and respected at the highest level as he has brought highest honour at an international level for Afghanistan, our lovely great country.

How does
1pt: punch/kick in the body
2pt: kick in the head
3pt: round kick in the head
4pt: round kick in the face
I don't know if is it totally correct, but it's something like that
one point, basic attack to torso
two points, spinning kick to torso
three points, kick to head
(there are no 4 point, neither do they differ, between head and face)
One point for a valid punch to the trunk protector
Two Points for a valid kick to the trunk protector
Four points for a valid turning kick to the trunk protector
Three points for a valid kick to the head
Five points for a valid turning kick to the head

needs commntary, 99% of comments dont even know how the sport works, just happy for afghanistan. also want to know why point was deducted for spain? Also what and why do they scream after each point score? it seems unsportsmanlike, the spain guy was screaming a lot, why?
In TKD you lose points by gaining two „warnings“/penalties, incurred by ex. punching to the face, stepping out of the ring, pushing/ holding/ grabbing (here the judges have a bit of tolerance in judging). The spain fighter got his first penalty because he went out of the ring 9:50. the second one, was due to holding his opponent 11:00. thats why he lost the point
the screaming in the fight is some sort of „mental warfare“. Furthermore, the fighter thinks he scored, so he is cheering. but since the judges are accountable for deciding wether there is a point or not, there is no real effect for the fight. why the spanish fighter screamed during the break, is pretty unclear to me aswell.
