The song definitely deserved to be like 30 seconds longer/one final chorus. I think it would’ve made the score, for me, go up by 0.5.
Definitely agree, it got real interesting at the end, then it just ended, it needed one more chorus after that, continuing the beat change, that way the end chorus would be a little different from the rest, and would make it more interesting
Agree. Felt the same way after Jennie's, "Solo." Both songs ended right when it felt like everything was coming together. That said, I like both songs and they get better with repeat listens.
I truly believe it's on purpose. It makes you wanna hear it again.
it's so different at first listen that it doesn't sit as well on the ears as you'd expect but after watching multiple reactions and streaming it a few dozen times, i'm completely onboard with this track now. same goes for the rest of the mini album - took until my third listen to those before i realised i love them.

The problem you guys have with the chorus is that where the drop was supposed to be, there just isn't one. The chorus goes hard but it doesn't work for some people's ears because everyone had their expectations on "the blackpink chorus". It worked for me and I love the song but like I said I expect the chorus to split opinion.
Yep AIIYL and PWF are my two favorite K-Pop songs lol, this song is pretty good but I agree I wanted something with a different vibe
This song is definitely a grower but I do appreciate that the girls are experimenting with different sounds and ways of singing. And yes this song goes hard in the car for sure.

Btw I didnt really like this song because I feel like it is missing something especially at the end but I have grown to like it but I still like ddu du ddu du more. I would give this song an 8 right now

You all should checkout one of their comeback stage performances for the subtitle track "Don't Know What to Do". Much more of a pop sound and concept.
I had the same thing as Oscar. Everything was on point, but the chorus lost me a bit each time, mainly because the prechorus is my favorite part and builds up so well, but since there's no drop in the chorus, it was always a bit anti-climatic there. However, I was always sucked back in. I love the verses and prechorus, and that last section certain ends the song on the right note.

I feel really bad for BLINKS, actually.
They are hands-down the most patient and forgiving fandom in all of Kpop.
"Ddu-ddu-du" was 10 months ago, and after that long a wait they got....
4 new songs.
But they're SO happy to finally have something, *anything* from their bias group that they never even notice that It's *the exact same thing they got last time.*
There is practically nothing different, either musically or stylistically, from their last comeback.
Now they get to wait for another year.... For more of the same. Their songs all follow the same formula and it takes them 3 years to get a dozen songs?
I'm happy for them because they finally have something to cheer about again, but this was really underwhelming.
Anyone who wasn't already a fan isn't going to be passing out over this.
That’s all a matter of opinion, isn’t it? Just because you don’t like the song doesn’t mean there aren’t any fans and non fans that do. I’ve seen a lot of blinks and nonblinks hyping up the song, it’s all a matter of preference. If you don’t like blackpink’s sound, then that’s your view. Don’t try to play it off as you feeling sorry for the fandom because YOU don’t like it.
@@linnyw3423 I think the message riffgroove was trying to get across has more to do with the idea that these are the facts:
- BP for a top 3 group has only 13 songs (if we don't count the collaboration with Dua Lipa) => while this is their image brand and whatnot, one of the things that makes kpop interesting is how a group shows different sides to their image and how they use each comeback to sort of grow their skills and artistry... and riffgroove looked at this and said ok where is that growth?
- YGE is intentionally creating a huge lack of supply to drive up demand but giving very little in return each time i.e. released about 4 songs a year => the statement was "they are hands-down the most patient and forgiving fandom in all of kpop" because no other group has this little input yet gets as much clout and hype as BP... so if we were to discuss the perspective of how team BP conducts business they basically are taking advantage of their fandom's demand (or desperation from how the statement is worded) to just have any content released at all regardless of what was put into it... which is why riffgroove felt sorry
So rather than taking it as an attack, look at it more of as an opinion that was formulated over what YGE & team BP presented from the perspective of someone who followed BP in the past. And yes you are also right it is a matter of opinion at the end of the day; which is all it will be if no further reaction is made.

I agree with you about the chorus - it did feel a bit empty, especially after that lead-up, and I'm not the biggest fan of the trumpets either. I love Jisoo and Rosé's parts though, they give me chills every time I listen to this song.
Also, Jennie's outfit in the first chorus gives me some serious Lara Croft vibes 😄

When I first heard it i hated it, like full on im never going to listen to this again, but after a few (many) listens it is now my second favorite. Its a grower, as the chorus takes a while to get used to, but the versus and pre-choruses were amazing from the get go.
I dont know with the others but this song is a grower for me. First few listens game me a so-so impression. The beat drop is not right where you would expect it to be but yes, it's there. Not that hard but it jives really well with the trumpet sounds.
So, well, ok, I'm replying my thoughts before hearing yours btw. I have to mention I've heard the song now a lot over and over, and in the car, with booming bass, and also the entire album. So I'm giving my opinion after having listened to it a LOT. At FIRST listen, I wasn't sure, to be honest, that I liked it. IT seemed that the "drop" lingered on too long with no drop, it was a lot of silence before the drop. IT also seemed that the end beat change was too short, they could have gone a whole 'nother chorus verse there at the end, and change it up, would have been better, it just seemed to abruptly end (but I kinda feel that way about each song on the album too.) However, now having listened to the song over and over and over, like I said, it's a GROWER, big time. It has really grown on me a lot. I get it now, and I LOVE it. BUT, it did take MULTIPLE listens, to get there. I still think the silence before the drop goes on too long, and I also feel there isn't much melody to the chorus verse, it's very "one note" just drones on. I wish the bassline at least changed during that part. But I absolutely love the vocals, and the rap parts, and the English splattered all over this song. The girls of course are freaking hot, the visuals on point, and the vocals on point. I just think the song could have been a bit more "interesting." IT started to get interesting at the end, but then it just stopped. They really needed to extend that end part to another chorus verse and change it up to sound like the end, would have put a nice cap on the song. I also suggest listening to the entire album, cause ALL the songs are bangin on this album, all of them. They really are good, and DDU remix is SWEEEEET. So yeah, give this one multiple listens, and PLEASE review the album, it's worth it.
and btw, i'm not a big fan of horns in songs, personally
I have to agree with what you guys are saying. I usually prefer more melodic choruses, and jennies "rampapam" lines plus the really simple beat, although impactful, seemed a bit bland imo. They could've gone in so many different directions to make the chorus a bit more fun or engaging to listen to. On the other hand, Rose and Jisoo's parts were my favorite :)
IT's like the end builds up to something, but then it ends :( It needed another verse or chorus at the very end to bring it all together.
I have so many emotions about this track. Lisa/Jennie is my favorite part. The very end of the track, 2:50-end, should have been the chorus. On repeat listens, the trumpets start to get grating imo; it's the same note just in 8th/16th note patterns. I can say more in chat if y'all want lmao
Edit: I think the group needed to have this track as a comeback. The group is gunna get a crazy amount of criticism over any track they put out for a couple reasons: the hype train is huge, it's been a hot minute since their last comeback, and the mess that YG is in rn.
Kpop fans want expecting more comeback from Blackpink yeah because is Blackpink sensational kpop girl group..ppl want hype from Blackpink .. They want beat goes hard especially chorus part.. to me i love this song so much well i dont want complaining about that because this track is masterpiece to me.. Lol i swear because i'm easy listening black side music and not into pink concept..less ingredients but that taste enough and enjoying this song..hope next comeback they cr8 song pink side to attract more new listeners.😊

I completely agree with everything you guys said. It has grown on me a lot since the first listen, I think I would probably give it an 8.5 or 9. Listening to the song without the video definitely helped me enjoy it more. As If it's Your Last is also my favourite Blackpink song. :D Great video guys.

I seen many reaction.. First time non Kpop reaction they kinda like it and many of them really Enjoying KTL and they so impressed the quality production of MV and don't tell about fake reaction i expert with that 😁...and same goes to Music critic, Guitar and Vocal react.. They can absorb and understand why Teddy compose and use minimal tempo bass to cr8 this song..3 of them really like chorus part..

Agree with Serg, PWF was a milestone, it made me fall for Blackpink. I think this MV is better than the song, with lots of fun bits, like Lisa's sparkle glasses and Lady Gaga makeup, and Jisoo's wild headpiece! :) ...But you would think they'd know by now how to build a powerful chorus. This wasn't it. But maybe my desktop pc isn't giving me anywhere near the proper club bass - that can completely change a song's power. And it could have gone one more big verse at the end. Thanks for being kind, guys! I love these girls, they're so sweet and adorable in person, I want them to do well. :)

I really enjoy this song, it's not my favorite blackpink song by any means, but it is still a really good song. The Jisoo and Rosae vocal parts are what sold the song for me. So much tension in their voices it got me crying a bit.
When you check out the mini album you see that Jisoo finally gets the lines she deserves! I think this is definitely her era. I was very impressed by this song/mv and I didn't think they could get any better but this comeback proved me wrong. The song might grow on you over time if you listen to it more :)

I thought it was really good except for the ending. The rumpupum part could've been better but still good. Jisoo is a goddess.
i think the length of the song is fine cuz if the chorus went on for too long it would just be repetitive but i do think they could have filled the chorus up a bit more its a little empty in my opinion and rum pum pum's kind of feel like that last minute throw in to add something that was missing from the song. I also think while jennie and lisa both killed their raps rose and jisoo's parts of the song were my favs, i kind of agree on not really liking lisa's first rap while it was dope i feel like the melodic rap that jennie did in the beginning and her lisa did the second time fit the song better idk if im making sense but i tried lol. Anyway yall are my fav jennie and rosie stans great reaction! :)

Nothing about this song appealed to me. Visually it's appealing (I mean, Jisoo, Rose, look at em) but the song felt...old or incomplete. I wish they'd let someone besides Teddy to give them a song, tbh.

Honestly I love this comeback. I think it is so strong, but just like with Jennie's Solo I think that the song ended too early and it left me wanting more.

Honestly i didn't like dddd that much either but it was times way better than this one bcs dddd was only lacking one thing but this just so empty and i am fed up of them doing same concept over and over again and people all saying that this song will grow on you after listening multiple times then i just wanna say that when u play a song on repeat for so many times eventually u are gonna like it its psycology. So even if they had break records with this song on youtube it was not up to expectations or hype around them.
