Rob Halford is such a casual guy. He's a big name in Metal, yet he's the kind of person you can just have a beer with and just be natural. A real testimony to being a decent human being.

@@tonymarshall3978 yeah, you could really tell that his voice was affected by something for the first half of the 80s. His live shows during that era are a shadow of what he was capable of in his prime. Still good though, which is a testament to his amazing ability.

I’ve seen Judas Priest 9 times over the years, starting in 1981 with Point Of Entry tour. Even though the members have somewhat changed, the band is still true to their metal. The latest record, Firepower, absolutely kills, one of their best! Long Live Judas Priest!!

I've loved music made by people older than me for a long time. Had heroes like Dio, Iommi, Halford, KK and Tipton...
Priest, Sabbath, Metallica and many others, all being hugely admired, later in life, is a beautiful thing.
Metal has never had any inherent ageism, that I've ever heard of, whatsoever. This is also a beautiful thing.

This is a fascinating snapshot in time for multiple reasons. First is that the band just wasn't active, in a public sense, in 1989. There was no album and no tour. It is interesting to see the look Rob was sporting in this period between the Ram it Down tour and the Painkiller era. The mustache is unusual as well. Then you have Rob referring to Dave Holland in reference to doing the next album, but they would replace him with Scott Travis. Similarly, you have Rob referring to the band being like a family, but then the Painkiller tour would be Rob's last for quite some time. I assume issues in both cases popped up later. Also cool to see Rob in such a laid back setting and giving a glimpse into his life not typical in interviews. The "Where it's hot Weekly" part was unexpected. I also appreciated hearing his view on his fame and how it's a small price to pay. I do suspect that his level of fame was such that it provided a good balance to where he could go about things without too much hassle. That's what it sounds like from the way he described it.

Rob Halford has put out more amazing music these past thirty years since this interview. Painkiller came out one year after, a few years later he formed the great band Fight with great albums like War Of Words and A Small Deadly Space, by the end of the 90's and the early 2000's he formed the band Halford which was phenomenal with great albums like Resurrection and Crucible, and by 2004 he had returned to Judas Priest and since then has put out great albums like Angel Of Retribution, Redeemer Of Souls, and especially the MASTERPIECE Firepower. Rob Halford is still just as relevant as he was in this video over thirty years ago. Rob Halford deserves to be called the Metal God because in my opinion no other singer has been a bigger influence for Heavy Metal music than he has.

LOL ! It's 2018 April, I just took my oldest son to his first Judas Priest concert here in Utah last Friday April 13th, Friday the 13th !! 30 years later! And the new album Firepower is Fandamntastic !! I honestly don't think they made any bad albums. I admit I wasn't a big fan of the Tim Ripper Owens albums. Jugulator, Demolition. I thought the live albums of this period were better than the studio ones. The Priest has and will ALWAYS fly the flag of Metal. All prayers and thoughts for Glenn Tipton. \m/ ✌from Utah.

Priest was one of the first bands that really got me interested in music and no matter what other stuff I feel like listening to at any given time (I'm really big on ska lately...) I can always come back to them. 50 years' worth of incredible metal - it's an unbelievable body of work and they still deliver.
