Adobe never got me. I left college and saw how much the programs cost. I can not justify paying for a subscription for it. I would have paid $600 for a one off charge, but $60 per month for Illustrator, InDesign, and Photoshop was a joke.
My friend, you are very right, I don’t even want to go into the financial part of it but Adobe ceos are make a very nice chunk of change off everyone’s back. On a different note, I’m a designer that has used photoshop and illustrator for years. Now I’m tired of being milked like a cow. So, what to do? In my case, in order to replace photoshop and illustrator I would need : in Canadian dollars (affinity photo, designer and publisher: 150$ total with free updates )+(Corel paint shop pro :100$+ GRFX studio: 540$, draw 630$and painter 500$)+ ( Gimp + add on g mic filters :Free)+ (Inkscape: free) + (krita: free) , bringing us to a total of 1920$ Canadian, vs the 56$/month (Canadian) or 672$ per year. I much prefer owning my soft ware and upgrading when I see fit rather than this vampiric adobe model, that forces updates down your throat, and by consequence, forcing you to ever upgrade on the actual computer that is running it. In conclusion either adobe brings back the cs model,( possibly charging us for certain updates like new tools and features that we can choose to either purchase or not) or simply boycott them completely. THERE IS LIFE AFTER ADOBE!!!

I jsut spent $67 on Affinity Photo, Free Divinci Resolve, and spent $225 on the latest version of Capture One 20 and I am good! FOR YEARS! Unless I get a new camera, or something forces me to need to upgrade.. there is never a point. When it works, it works. Period. This nonsense that the big companies pull to force people to spend, and spend, and spend. It needs to stop.

I've been using Davinci Resolve as a content creator/vlogger and I absolutely love it. I was considering Lr/Ps bundle from Adobe for photo editing, but it Affinity can tackle that like you say, then I may just skip the Adobe subscription ecosystem all together.

Yeah, exactly! It's sad that most creatives are all "sold" on this "adobe" idea. I guess it all started back when I was in school. That is what the school used, so that's what I also thought was the only way to go. But, eventually I woke up.. lol.
I signed up for the Affinity Photo free trial. It was for 2 weeks, but for some reason they kept giving me an "extend" option(twice), so I clicked on it. Then after about 5 weeks they offered me Affinity Photo for half price($24.99), so I got it. I don't know if that's normal or if I got lucky, but I'm happy with it.
REPLACE PHOTOSHOP?!!! GASP! Replace anything else...anything! It's the only piece of software across the board that I have ever truly loved. I will indeed check out Affinity Photo though, so big thanks for the advice. I do use Photoshop in depth for matte painting film work professionally though (central to my bread and butter) together with loads of personal stuff, so I will admit I'm sceptical. No matter how deep things run however, it's important to keep an open mind no matter how painful the thought.
I have the old Adobe Photoshop CS5.1 for Windows which I run on my MacBook with Parallel. I almost bit the bullet and got the new version for the Mac but I just don't use it enough to justify that subscription just yet. I love the Affinity tools. Especially Affinity Designer! I would rather just $500 for Photoshop and call it a day. I just don't want to create another bill?
l learnt to save my money and then invest and has done wonders in bringing control and sanity. It also encourages me to save money. As you see your net worth growing as well......... I've much more in control this year..... Being with family and having a grip with finances has been a blessing.💪

You should really take my advice and try the other programs I listed. I am a working pro, use this stuff all the time and I am SO HAPPY that I got rid of Adobe! The other programs work better, faster, cheaper and the learning curve was about a day, lol. No more payments to Adobe, and no more spending money that I dont need, which can now be invested into something else ;-) So, if you really want to invest your money as you say... this is a great example of something to consider. It adds up! Either way, if you stay with Adobe try the tips I talk about cause that can also save you some money too. Happy shooting!

I still have the LR and PS subscription but I rarely use them, I keep it because I need PS from time to time when I do some work with other photographers and it is because they use PS, when the subscription expires I'm not going to renew it. I use Capture One and Affinity since 2015 and I don't need anything else. Davinci for PC\Mac and Luma Fusion for iPad is more than enough.

Hey, thanks so much. Yeah, I guess I kinda gave up on my UA-cam channel. Since the pandemic, I just lost a ton of motivation. People love the bts videos, trips etc and I just don't have any of that going on right now. I also lost all my assistants that would video things. So it's many things. I might get back into it one day, but honestly making videos like I was, is just too much work for nothing in return. In other words, I just can't see the point of having a channel anymore? I was never making money, I have no interest in doing "reviews" like so many do, so I'm kinda stuck. It's a little sad I guess. But I guess I just lost passion for it all.

I only use lightroom 6, it's paid and done. I never used photoshop. Maybe one day I will buckle down and learn photoshop. I feel that for now lightroom 6 is all I need. You can't reinvent the wheel but so many times. Continue to keep the videos coming glad to watch your channel and the tutorials you offer.

Lol, nah. When I was younger I did all that stuff. But eventually you grow up and just want to find a better solution. Especially when your in business. But, so far the other programs I talk about in the video are so much nicer to use anyway. I would not even go back if it were free.
I did that as well when young. Now I am earning (not a lot though) and use net banking on my laptop. Not only cracks are illegal, they are risky too as you never know the hacker could have framed a backdoor into the crack / patch. I still have a workaround for that using sanboxie / VM etc. but I just don't don't get into such hassle. It a definitely a theft and also many people are involved in making. It feels bad to get a free ride on their hard-work (for the same reason I don't watch pirated movies) especially when a lot of alternatives are available. GIPM is free. DaVinci looks promising and within budget range. If you earn through photoshop, then it is okay to pay the price. On a side note, yes it is somewhat costly if you use it casually I as do.
Because that is only "Photoshop Elements" it's not the same thing. In my video I talk about how to replace both products and get OUT of the adobe "eco system" which is what many people want :-)

Why do Adobe switch to monthly fees? This is basically a demon-like practice, and them don’t have to say anything that Adobe can update the version at any time. Hi Dane, I switched over to using Capture One years ago. This is BY FAR a more professional photo raw processing tool vs. Lightroom! You can check it out on their website. :-) I have a video where I do a full edit using capture one in my recent videos that you can also watch to see it in action.

click on the magnet, and from there you can adjust how the tracks snap onto the grid. if you want it to be each 1/4 of a bar, click "line"

Hi Dane, I switched over to using Capture One years ago. This is BY FAR a more professional photo raw processing tool vs. Lightroom! You can check it out on their website. :-) I have a video where I do a full edit using capture one in my recent videos that you can also watch to see it in action.

Hey Rene! Thanks so much. Yeah, its been rough for sure. I think for me, im just trying to get a monthly platform together as quickly as possible for teaching (Patreon page) and hope I can get some people in there soon :-) I have wanted to do this for a LONG time.. and never could because of weddings.. so, now is the time for me to really push and see if that will work for me to help pay basic bills that I have.
