OBSERVATIONS: Pippen looks as good as Jordan at times, yet Jordan still feels a cut above the rest. Even in how MJ moves its amazing! Pippen can't guard Worthy, but Worthy can't keep up with Pip. Magic IMO is better than Lebron. The difference is Magic for such a high usage rate releases the ball the minute someone is open unless he's posting up. All Lakers are engaged because of this. Lebron's teams tend to lack movement because he will hold the ball for so long, and pass at the tail end of the shot clock. I need to go back and watch prime Lebron to refresh but it wasnt that long ago, I remember thinking he holds the ball too long and his body language was bad for team morale. Magic's team is in sync with him 100%.

Lakers and Bulls were 100% healthy here. They split in the 1990-1991 regular season. In the game at The Forum in LA, the Lakers still won with Magic leaving the game early with a concussion. In The 1991 Finals, the 4-1 final outcome is a bit deceiving. The Lakers took game one in Chicago, and two out of the three games in LA were close, with one going into overtime. Instead of Worthy and Scott being out with injuries by the end of The 91 Finals, if instead it were reversed with Pippin and Paxson being out… Lakers FOR SURE would’ve won! This would’ve given Magic 6 rings (in only 12 seasons), and Jordan 5 rings

Magic had a grip of turnovers and deflected passes in this game. This game was a microcosm of the first 3 games of the '91 Finals when both teams were basically healthy. In this game, the Lakers were down 2 or 3 with about a minute-and-a-half left in the third. When Dunleavy brought him back in the 4th, the Lakers were down around 11pts. The Bulls still would’ve won the 91 Finals but James Worthy got hurt in The Portland series & Scott was injured in game 3 of The Finals. I will always believe if Magic doesn’t contract HIV he finds a way to win another championship.
So sad we didn’t get to see magic for a few years. Larry and Isaiah too. Their bodies broke down. That said, once the bulls got over that hump there was no stopping them. The 1992 team was arguably their strongest team ever (records aside).
Is it me, or just watching this game make everything seem so much more fast-paced? And the game was so much more physical back then, too. I watch these games as a little kid… But of course, I never realized how truly athletic, gifted, and special all these players really were.I know I am a little biased, but it makes today’s NBA seem rather boring. And the defense - my gosh! The defense was almost as exciting as the offense. And this just isn’t the case with today’s game. Everything is designed to benefit the offense, because the thinking is that this is where all the action is.
Notes: Worthy wearing Adidas after storied career on New Balance. must be funny for younger fans to hear the commentator saying that Lakers had eight 3pt attemmpts per game but for most of us this was the way the game was supposed to be played 💪
20:52 Nvm the airball, how tf did he get that off?! It's this sort of creativity and shot-creation that I've never seen matched by anyone except Kyrie. And then Perkins with the lightning quick block with his left hand and the ensuing battle down low to corral the board and then to block Livingston. Just great, effort-full basketball.
They need to bring back physicality in The NBA and limit the amount of 3 point attempts. I want to see big men play in the low post and wing players drive to the hole. Settling for 3 point shots is lazy.
The offensive foul at 4:37 is hilarious in the context of today's game. It's why you need to watch the film. What would Giannis do if THIS is an offensive foul? Would be interesting to see. I say that not to denigrate, but because he's a smart player who would adjust and thus it would be interesting. Like, maybe instead of lowering his shoulder now he sort of swoops in or comes up with some other type of shot. Giannis would be a different player under this ruleset. But he would still be Giannis.
For the youngins watching 3 players from one college team on the floor(Worthy, Jordan, Perkins all on the 1982 North Carolina championship team. #43 on the Lakers is Klay Thompson's dad.
The clear passing of the torch here... You could see the Lakers were outmatched by the Bulls and a clear foreshadowing of the butt whooping they were about to receive in the ‘91 finals.
Did you hear those 3 point stats for the year? The Lakers were averaging over 8 threes a game for the year, while the Bulls were averaging only 3 attempts per game. Wow has the game changed.

I'm tired just watching, unbelievable shots, incredible defense, face paced, all I could do was laugh... bad azz, the skill level was out of this world, Just amazing basketball! I enjoyed it as though it was happening in real-time, smh. today's NBA is a joke everybody wants to shoot 3's no defense, no physicality... it's a complete joke!
Put This Game On NBA TV Hardwood Classic On TV
Hubie would have done their finals series had the NBA stayed on CBS one more season
Glad it moved to NBC
I'm glad NBC is back next season as well but TNT should not be the odd network out and ABC keeps the finals til 2036 🤮@@matthewd84
"Appreciate this comment here, now watch how he cut right to the chase. Typing with both hands. Beautiful comment" ~ Hubie Probably
I appreciate the theatrical aspect that NBC brought. But the crew on CBS were more cerebral, and had a better understanding of the game.
Imma miss the NBA on TNT
no incessant PA noise music. no ridiculous traveling or carrying, no 30 minutes of iso, no 30 minutes of 3s, no obnoxious tatts, no watercolor hair, no purses. interesting game
No cross dressing on the way to the locker room
Damn! I miss this type of basketball.
Grown men playing basketball as it was intended.
This is great basketball, not what they are doing today !!
This was just the start of the 90s. 80s ball was still pretty fast paced. The 90s slowed down the pace year by year.
Man I remember those players back in the 90s. Bill Cartwrong, John Paxdaughter, Stacy Queen, AC Blue, James Worthless. Brings back memories.
Notes: Worthy wearing Adidas after storied career on New Balance. New coach and several new players for the Lakers and they would make it to the finals the following spring against this same Bulls team. You can see here that Pippen and Grant have arrived by this juncture. Mike is Mike - but with the supporting cast now the Bulls are the premier team in the East.
I love this game!😂
Basketball played from the post! Artwork!!!
Versatilitian Pip at his best turn defense into instant offense. Nice take off scoop layup 13:19 replay 15:09
Look at the bigs in the paint. Not shooting 3s. Straight basketball. High percentage shots.
23:58 classic Jordan move to the hoop right here. GOAT
Thank you so much for this amazing upload!!!!
👍
That Wasn't The Show Time Laker's. No Kareem. No Copper. No Pat Riley.
Ah yes, 1987 Lakers at Bulls (referred @ 2:47), the game that Al Bundy was supposed to go to with Luke Ventura but Peg kept him from it--while Bud snuck his way in instead.
Thanks for this.Who didn’t have the purple and gold Converse All Star s and the Green Celtic ones
👍
Man I miss this era of basketball!! 27:06.....what the heck is Byron Scott complaining about?? That was a clear foul kids. Not this I just breathed on you too hard so it's a technical. Lol
This was real basketball things are no longer the same.
I'm a magic fan but nothing and I mean nothing can beat the Bulls introduction music. It was the moment you knew it was going to be a great game and good times.
1:09 passing it to David Robinson in front of the alamo was so cool
must be funny for younger fans to hear the commentator saying that Lakers had eight 3pt attemmpts per game but for most of us this was the way the game was supposed to be played 💪
Is a shame Worthy and Magic couldn't have a longer career.
They need to bring back physicality in The NBA and limit the amount of 3 point attempts. I want to see big men play in the low post and wing players drive to the hole. Settling for 3 point shots is lazy.
I miss those days
They're playing basketballllll!
6:56
That's the first time I've seen Pippen shooting a fadeaway!
Really, he done than that throughout his career...lol😅
can't believe the old game so fast paced
For the youngins watching
3 players from one college team on the floor(Worthy, Jordan, Perkins all on the 1982 North Carolina championship team.
#43 on the Lakers is Klay Thompson's dad.
The clear passing of the torch here... You could see the Lakers were outmatched by the Bulls and a clear foreshadowing of the butt whooping they were about to receive in the ‘91 finals.
16:05 The original stretch five.
U mean stretch 4
@@michaelallen8112 You're right, they have Vlade at the five, so yeah, original stretch six.
The off ball movement is amazing too!!
Did you hear those 3 point stats for the year? The Lakers were averaging over 8 threes a game for the year, while the Bulls were averaging only 3 attempts per game. Wow has the game changed.
3:20 that was the quickest pull-up ever
